This is the most informative video on this topic I have seen. You cover all the difficult parts with clear, concise video and narration. Thank you, sir.
Great video. I was wondering how to get some of the wires and hoses off of this pump it looks like a tight squeeze. I found an easy way to Route The Wires. I just cut the old electrical plug and when I rerouted the new one on the pump I didn't put it through the strap on the gas tank so I didn't have to loosen the strap at all I just put it in front of it using the clips that were included and it worked out perfect and was simple.
Your camera is all close-up shots, what wheel did you take off the passenger wheel or the driver side wheel? I took off the wheel on the driver side but there's no clip
@Itsdazeni Oh okay, I took off the wheel anyway to make it easier, I installed the pump in a 2003 Mercury Grand Marquis and it was pretty simple. I made it even easier by cutting the old pump wire and when I rewired the new one I didn't put it through the gas tank strap I just put it on the side and in back of it using the included clips. Thanks for the video
Thank you for this video...may have to do this job on my 03 crown vic which has been sitting in my garage for 10 years, the fuel pump no longer primes when turning the key on...maybe a mouse chewed some wiring or the pump froze up because of stale gas, excellent video!
what made you have to replace it? I'm suspecting mines needs to be replaced, I have the 2000 year model same pump design. I had about half tank of gas one day, came out the very next day to no fuel light and gas hand stuck on E. Im suspecting either the gauge cluster is acting up or the fuel pump floater is the problem?
@@Itsdazeni ok one more question I heard those fuel tank strap bolts can be a pain after you loosen them their too short when tightening ? Did you experience that or did the fuel tank strap tighten right back in with no problem?
Hey question. I’ve got a 99 Mercury grand Marquis is the process the same? And if I didn’t have a lift and I was just using a Jack and Jack stands would you recommend I take out the exhaust? Or just try to move it over
I was able to just shift my exhaust over and hold it with a ratchet strap without removing any bolts. I strapped it around the rear wheel and was able to get the few inches I needed. All turned out well
Thanks for this informafive vid! Getting a PO462 code regarding the fuel level sensor but the gauge reads accurately. I was going to do this job but i keep getting whiffs of fuel vapor in the vehicle but no visible leaks. Working full time i just dont have the time to take the tank down and look into it in a timely manor so its going to have to go to the shop. Hopefully the next house will have a garage then i can go back to doing all this myself hah!
Do all grand marquis make the sound of the fuel pump priming? My car has a hard time starting and dies if I give it fuel unless I run it for 10 minutes after it sits overnight. I never hear the fuel pump prime either.
I would never admit this online but I cut an access from inside the trunk so I could get that old plug clip off..I subscribe and you don't tell anyone...deal?
Happy to report that the car is now running great and test drove it down the road and even the transmission shifts perfect..very grateful that I found this rust free Florida car for 200..and thank you for the advice

This was just as informative and a bit more entertaining than a dealership training video!! Nice work sir.

This is the correct method for replacing the pump. So many other videos stating to cut the harness instead of doing it the correct way. Nice video!
Lol really that’s funny. Thanks

I didn’t take off any wheel I used a lift
And it’s in the passenger side

Thanks I hope you get it fixed
What does that connector go 2 on top the tank that you removed? Is it pressure valve?
Thanks Davion , Really Like Your Very Well Done Video , Very Easy To Follow & Helped Me Make A Difficult Job EASY !

I’d say the floater, but I don’t remember why this one was replaced tbh

Mmm the process may be the same you’d have to check
You could just move exhaust to the side don’t need a lift c

Nice!
What's the name of the blue tool do you use to remove gas hose ??
The fuel line? It’s a lisle 3/8 fuel disconnect tool they’re like $8 at auto parts store
Thank you, your video was a great tool for me to replaced my fuel pump
Glad it did!
Gas leaks while driving 2011 mercury grand marquis from top of tank what part would it be
Where exactly coul be filler hose or tank itself or the sending unit gasket
I did one of these too bro not too long ago pretty cool to see someone working on the same car doing the same repair
I’ve done many lol I. Work on a lot of fords/Lincoln/Mercury etc
@@Itsdazeni oh ok lol that’s cool keep up the great work

Did the hanger nut go back on or did you have to get a new one
platinumplusceo went back on
Great video sir. Quick question, Is this the same process for a 2010 lincoln towncar?
Pretty much same concept
Thank you!
Dude! So perfect. Thanks.
Awesome how to video brotherman!!
The maintenance Man ha thanks bro!

Great video!
Thanks
Notice he didn't show the trouble he had actually taking the unit out of the tank.
It’s kind of hard to record and pull a sending unit out with one hand 🤡
Muy claro
This has to be a hassle on a regular jack. Don't forget people he's using a lift which helps immensely for this. But great how too video.
Gas leak on my 2011 mercury grand marquis waste more gas when driving
Leaking from sending unit gasket?
