You can't teach height. If Team Japan is still stuck in the "I mop the floor better than you" mode, I don't see it'll win another world title again. The top 5 elite teams are damn tall. Brazil's avg height is 182/183cm, the other 4 teams USA, China, Russia and Serbia are all 185+. How can you get pass by 5 teams that hit over your block?
This is one of the best teams China has ever assembled. Young, tall and powerful players to complement an experienced squad. No wonder they socked it to the Japanese. Japan needs to find good players fast if they want to make an impact at the Olympics to be held in Tokyo in 2020.
Yamaguchi is a good middle spiker, she is only 176 cm. But she is very efficient in attacking in this match. If she can be a bit taller, she would be able to a valuable player in the world.
i think jpn needs to get E.Araki,BTW what happened to the lineup of jpn? they need the veterans on the court like saori,nagaoka,ebata,sakoda,risa,ishii and Miyashita

What to expect then? :-) I once visited Sikkim and nearby areas incl Gangtok, Phuntsholing, Darjeeling... if they ever mention China, nothing nice come out from their mouths! I'll cut the long story short, China have about 1,400,000,000 mouths to feed on. It's a giant task to take care that many population. At this size, there are just two nations on earth! The 3rd one is quite distant away, the USA have only about 350,000,000 population, or about one fourth of China's account. For those who idolize the "Democracy - Freedom - Human Rights" above everything, they can pick the 2nd largest as a good model, see if they enjoy more the situation there, at the largest democratic nation on earth. I will say nothing about it...let each make his/her conclusion... :-) Some info to highlight here, the life expectancy in TAR has been more than twice longer than in the 1950s. And the population there has been increasing substantially, feel free to research the internet for obtaining the credible figure. Not to mention the material & physical developments there. Nonetheless the life at the plateau with altitude of 3,000 meters and above will never be easy; they can only grow some particular vegetables inside the glass houses, and many other limitations of such high altitudes! That's why I said a personal experience and exposure are irreplaceable to have the proper understanding upon the life there.
