Thank you for these educational videos although they are a little advanced for me, I am using an LS9-32 console and I want to upgrade to a TF5. I would like more videos about the TF5, such as latency with ear monitors, multi-channel recording, the use of sequences, etc. thank you!!
Quick Config also works really well with the Yamaha DZR-D speakers. However you set the speakers on their own menu is picked up by the TF-1 and patched accordingly (Stereo L, R, Matrix, Mon, Aux). I have set up the system using Dante Controller (and use that for my QL5), but QC on the TF-1 and DZR-D speakers is very cool for smaller events. Makes life much easier for a one-man operation.
@@KINETICPROFESSIONALS I really like them - I have 4 of the DZR-D15", 2 of the 12s and one 10 for a monitor. Really clear, more volume than I would ever need in my situations (church conferences, concerts, school musical productions). We use a QL5 in my church, connected via Dante with 4 Nexo speakers (15s and 10s), powered by a newer Nexo amp and connected via Dante. The amp decided to lose its mind one week and I was able to connect two of the DZR-D15s in its place. Dante is a great thing... The DZR-D speakers each need to have a unique address (programmed on the back of the speaker), and then set for wherever you're using them - Stereo L or R, Matrix, or whatever, and the TF-1 knows just what to do with them. I have a Yamaha DM3-D on order (now pushed back to Jan/Feb - been waiting since last summer!) - I'm assuming that the DM3-D will work similarly. I already got the new TIO for it that can operate at a higher bit rate. Have you been able to get a DM3-D yet? I'm hoping that it will be able to control our Shure ULX-D mics similarly to what the QL5 can do.
@@KINETICPROFESSIONALS Thought I replied - sorry. I like them a lot. Diving back in here because my TF-1/Dante and some of my DZR-D speakers were stolen recently - EDIT: I replaced the TF-1 with a DM3/Dante... quite different. I hope you do some videos on the DM3/Dante at some point. I miss Quick Config... but I'm sorting it out.

Hey, you talk about loosing the HA control. I renamed my TF1 in dante controller and tio as well. I noticed when the tio being renamed after power cycle they change the name to put the "Y001-....". The console does not, i just renamed it "TF1". Is this the reason i losed the HA control ? Is the handshake based on device name that user can modify ? I did dante certification, and just learned an advice that naming is important to make everything clear but if it break the feature of HA control it's not that great x)
Naming is very important . It has hierarchy over the ip address in terms of a virtual handshake. For head amp control it’s all about device control ip.
You should update the firmware in both the TF and the TIO as there have been updates. This requires two separate operations. Dante Controller will now show up labeled with the output busses, and you should save all your settings on the TF so that you can reinitialize the desk after the firmware update. Also, most users would benefit from taking a Dante level 1 certification to familiarize themselves with this new type of connection, before switching out of Quick Config to avoid pitfalls. BTW- Dante can be used in daisy chain mode and will make multiple hops without issue. Network switches need to be configured properly to function with Dante, so again, perhaps a level two Dante Certification course would be helpful.
So if I wanted to keep and use the 16 inputs on the back of the TF-1 and use the remote box to add 17 -32 inputs on the second layer on TF-1. I could not use the easy patch of confige and set the box to box # 2. I would have to get a laptop, network switch and program the 17-32 inputs manually?
@@18tstsound That is not a full answer. If I use 1-16 on the back of TF, can I set the switch to (2) on the stage box to program the stage box to 17-32 on second layer of TF. Or do I have to include a laptop with Donte in the mix to add the stage box to the 17-32?
If you set the TIO to "2," it will function as inputs 17-32 without Dante Controller. Outputs 1-6 default to Auxes 1-6, Ouput 7/8 defaults to Stereo L/R.
I'm wondering if it's an issue with the D2 version of the Tio. We just bought a TF3 and Tio 1608-D2, and haven't had any luck with Quick Config either. Instead we've been using Dante Controller for patching between the two devices, and R Remote for gain and phantom power control. Unfortunately, that means we don't have native gain control (aka Head Amp control) on the board, but at least it all works. I'm going to spend some time at some point in the next couple days looking for firmware updates for everything (TF3, NY64 card, Tio, Tio's Dante interface) to see if having that all up to date fixes the issues. If it doesn't, then I have a tech support call with Yamaha in my near future :(
@@brenekh Hi, I did a bit of research and apparently other people were having similar issues. One of the users on Reddit gave me a solution which fixed the problem. Maybe it might work for you as well. All I did was flipping down the 3,7,8 dip switches and power cycle the TIO1608. That fixed the quick config issue and the TF recognised the TiO. Once it's all good, you can return the dip switches to their original state and it should work just fine. Hope this helps.
Send source into the aux you want, then out of the xlr output port on the console corresponding to the aux. then hit your effects. Return on a channel and route from there.
How can i help, with quick config - shown in the video ( 4:59 ) it shows the first 6 outputs ( aux 1-6 are outputs 1-6, and 7-8 are stereo L/R ). Also stated in the video, if you do not use quick config you need to patch your outputs in dante controller. Hope this helps
Your video is easy better then yahama official ...tq
Thank you. I’m trying to get better.

That’s rad. I was thinking about a couple of DZR-D’s for our inventory. How you like them ?

Awesome! Glad to hear it helped. Have a great show !
Hi! Could I patch stereo buses (like 17-18, 19-20 from TF5) to the 8 outs of the Tio?

I couldn’t agree more. The Dante classes are very useful. Wasn’t aware of the firmware updates. Thanks

Is this process any different for the Tio1608-D2?
Nope. Just instead of dip switches it’s a front lcd screen.
Thank you
