    Well said I’m from Australia so I do bass fishing. But I really think all animals are in a no win battle with all the technology out there now. I love hunting and fishing. But it’s getting unfair. 👍🏼 keep up the good work

    Integrity and ethics are the base of all fish, hunting and trapping . The erosion of these foundations are evident to those that hold them to heart. These foundations need to be instilled in the youth entering the sport above all else.

    At the end of the day it all comes down to people really don't love fishing for the purpose it is truly intended. People just want to catch the tournament winning bag, and really don't appreciate the joy of just throwing a line, cruising the lake, and taking in all the beauty nature has to hold. Sorry for their loss! 💯🤔

      So, if you watched the original video. They would replace the 50 bassboats doing what they love with 50 wakeboats just because of a phantom safety concern. USACE has no hand in the fishery or conservation. Their actions oversaturated the lake with boats and now ramp issues are the fault of bass fishermen who don't cause them.

    This is how this needs to happen. Randy, your first conversations need to be with the IFGA and any other organization that certifies world, national and state record fish. Perhaps they can take the same approach and not honor fish or allow catches to count as established record if used with live sonar (?)
    This would be closer aligned with the B&C comparison.
    NOW…..it doesn’t have to stop there, if they are to take that stance then the trickle down effect is a lot more ammunition against the tournament leagues and organizations
    Just a thought

    Interesting interpretation. If FFS is live imaging, do you classify 2D sonar as something other than live imaging? It is still a real-time view of what’s happening beneath your boat.
    I have FFS (original Panoptix) and I love seeing structure changes. That earlier tech wasn’t great for identifying fish. That being said, I use downscan, sidescan and 2D sonar idling around the lake as my go to method of finding potential fishing holes.
    Whether that’s cheating or not isn’t the point, just curious where the line gets drawn on live imaging? It would seem all sonar would fit the description. We would be back to dragging sinkers .😅

    I’m not defending FFS but would have to ask a question. In the memo you read it states several things (night vision, heat seeking devices, rage finder scopes, etc) is an unfair advantage to the game and devices that provide life imagines will not be recognized. So put that into bass fishing terms, FFS should not be allowed (and I understand that), but the question is should down scan, side scan, conventional 2d sonar and all the advances in GPS mapping be allowed?

      I agree with this comment. Also I am not defending FFS by any means but if you go to a lake with FFS that still doesnt mean you are just gonna catch fish. You still have to be a fisherman at the end of the day. You need to evaluate weather, water temp, time of year to still catch fish. Just because you see fish on FFS doesnt mean you are gonna catch them if you dont know what to use for that particular time.

    I think your arguments are very valid here. I do wonder though, what is the difference between using electronics to get on fish vs using another fisherman to get on fish? Guides basically do the same thing as our electronics, even to the point of what and how to cast/retrieve in a given situation. Ex: find the fish easier cause the guides knows that body of water, choose the lure/color/retrieve cause the guide knows what has been working on that body of water. FFS just takes the guide out of the equation. Honestly I'd like to see both go away, as well as tournaments. I honestly think tourneys and guides do as much or more harm than FFS does. Take tourneys and guides out of the equation and you'd see improvements to fisheries too.

    I'm not a big time hunter but i do hunt. Fishing is my passion, but when the freezer is empty and deer season starts it is time to shoot a deer. I have never used a trail cam but I'm sure this guy that's talking did. Don't let this guy full you. I have looked at pics from a trail cam but never from the spot that i'm hunting from. I'm sure Randy has. When I'm hunting, I'm hunting for meat. So a 6 point would satisfied me just as much as a 15 point would. These big deer that are shot shot on ranches. That is private property, fenced in property, where they feed these dear to get massive. Don't take count in record books. I think they do but I could be wrong. In the woods, I have eyes and binoculars so I can see. At the Lake I cannot see in the depths. That's why I have forward facing sonar. Isn't that the same? When you see deer in the woods that are bedded down and they're not moving. Doesn't one your members of your hunting party put on a drive to get The Dear to move towards the hunting party so it can be shot. That's what forward facing sonar does. It allows you to see the fish so that you can move up on them and TRY to catch them. Remember we can't see in the water. Like we can see in the woods. Put a blind man in the woods and tell him to shoot a deer. That's like fishing without forward facing sonar. It doesn't make sense.

    I agree 100% I was the first woman to fish Crappie Busters in Topeka, KS, a good 20 yrs ago (no livescope back then). My husband and I fished hard at these tournaments, and we had a blast doing so. Rain, cold, sleet, snow, hotter and windier than heck days and we found the fish ourselves. We didn't need a video game to do our fishing for us, and at ages 64/65 we still don't, and we wouldn't have it any other way. And we are like many others - we are proud of what we can do without livescope! Technology is ruining so many things, including fishing. You said it well, it's taking the magic out of fishing. I question the skills, patience, integrity and ethics of livescope users who know nothing more than to push the ON button and look at a screen just to get instant gratification for catching the "biggest" fish, without using their own brain/skills. In my personal opinion, they are being lazy. They don't want to do the hard work, they want to reap the monitary rewards and say hey look at me. The amount of fish caught with livescope is significantly increased and there will be issues with the reduction of fish populations in the future, most definitely in smaller lakes. I also worked at the Kansas Wildlife and Parks and I was able to see/hear the mind set of some of the decision makers. I chimed in on occasion but unfortunately had retired before most of the livescope hoola took place. It's a good thing I no longer work there as they'd probably fire me for speaking my mind on livescope! LOL Fish on......

    I don’t own a forward facing sonar unit but I don’t believe that just because you know the direction of the fish you will automatically get hooked up. It’s no different than sight fishing with polarized glasses, also almost every bass tournament I know of requires live weigh in and live release, therefore there is no detrimental effect of targeting the fish with a live sonar. The fish will still only take the bait it wants and on the way it wants it presented. The amount of pressure on these lakes is increasing with recreational boating making raw angling much more difficult and obtaining a creel in the allotted time Drawing in bigger fish to entice and entertain new prospective fishermen is how we grow the field. It’s not like Homer Simpson using crack for bait to draw them in, if anything, the live directional sonar repulses bass lateral lines making them harder to catch. Just my thoughts from a guy using a single head unit, doing it the traditional way.

    If Forward Facing Sonar is too expensive for some high school anglers to afford then eliminate spot lock trolling motors and shallow water anchor systems too. You can’t bring price into this and pick and choose which is acceptable and which isn’t when they’re all expensive. I can promise they have one of these items on their bass boat.

    Hold up, let's actually talk about this I've been watching everyone go back and fourth about this. I've been in the woods and on the lake my entire life. I've caught bass crappie and bream in john boats with no electronics and I've caught bass crappie and bream in bass boats with the old hummingbirds, I've caught all of them with 2d I've caught all of them in my boat with SI and DI, I've never used SI or DI to catch a fish I always stay on 2d with my Garmin, what I can tell is this the fishing has changed on a lot of these smaller lakes, and me and some of my buddies have beat foward facing sonar with what we have. Now I'm getting foward facing sonar because I see it as a tool not to waste time and throwing at fish that won't bite. I've been in boats with people who use it and none of them have used it as a game changer but as a tool. Now let's go to the Boone and Crockett I'm all about the sport of hunting I've owned some cameras but never used them where I hunt, but how many deer are scored every year that were killed in a pen, while using these high tech cameras and range finders. The thing is fishing has changed. Hunting has changed, technology has advanced and do you have people who abuse and use it yes but do you have people who are using this as a tool to put food on the table instead of a dollar in their pocket yes. Let's compare apples to apples not apples to oranges

      When they start trying to catch deer on a hook, we'll take a look at it. Fish do not have to bite any lure, and snagging fish is prohibited in tournaments already 🤷

    What does B&C have to do with fishing tournaments? We aren't talking about bass records, we are talking about tournaments. B&C doesnt run hunting tournaments. Its not the same thing. And I can still hunt with whatever I want within the law, who gives a fck what some record book keepers think? I think all sonar should be banned and wouldnt mind if they banned the tournaments either. This crap isnt what hunting and fishing is suppose to be about.

    • @joshwhite9211
      @joshwhite9211 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      He's stating that if you use it to seek and find a record bass it will not be accepted so therefore it shouldn't be accepted in tournaments. And I also agree with toney stuff too but that would be tough to do and wouldn't want to have all the anglers unemployed either but the fish are paying the price either way. And my children and grandchildren cause the resources will be majorly impacted.

      Yep. I live in Southern California ( small, highly pressured lakes ), and one of my favorite lakes has become overrun by weekend tournaments and people using FFS! 10-15 years ago, on an average day on the lake I would catch anywhere from 10-20+ bass. A few maybe 4-5lbs. Over the past few years, I’m lucky to catch 1-2 bass, typically around 2lbs. Either somehow I all of a sudden suck at fishing ( been fishing salt and fresh water for over 40 years ), or, FFS and tournaments every weekend have ruined a once incredible bass lake!

    • @Steve-ev6vx
      @Steve-ev6vx 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      @@stevencaldwell838Yeah my main issie with Randy is he seems to only care about getting ffs out of tournamnets, but we need outright bans in order to save fisheries. I have said it before, but we should sart pushing to ban them on idividual lakes like they do with gas powered outboards on some lakes.

    • @Steve-ev6vx
      @Steve-ev6vx 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@joshwhite9211But you COULD use it to catch and then register a record bass. He is referring to not being able to register a buck deer in BC is you ise a trail camera or a drone, and he is equating that to sonar. If that analogy holds then 2D sonar would be cheating too, but he uses 2D. That still takes an image. I just think its splitting to many hairs. If the fisheries need, ban sonar. The tournaments can be managed better too. They can put a scale and a judge on each boat so the fish can be released immediately, or just use length like the kayak tournaments.

    Imagine what a 1940s angler might have said about you now.
    That you were using all kinds of unfair tech!
    Carbon fiber rods & finely machined reels!
    GPS + precise electronic depth mapping!
    2D 'live' sonar on an electronic screen!
    Side imaging 300+ ft wide swaths!
    Foot controlled 112 pound 36v electric trolling motor!
    250hp 4 cycle motors!
    Braided line!
    Fluorocarbon line!
    Chemically sharpened teflon coated high grade steel hooks!
    Weight transfer crankbaits!
    Why not have tournaments ban ALL electronics? Maybe require all rods made from natural materials & lines from natural fibers? Heck ban all motors & seek fish the way of native Americans in paddled canoes?
    Your whole pro fishing career was tied into, dependent on, and helping drive the commercialization of bass fishing. All your channels are commercialization. That's what has driven the never ending development of more & more expensive gear. If you want to see who brought this all about check your mirror.

    I run mega live and it’s just another tool. GPS, sonar, mapping and side imaging was more of a game changer than forward facing sonar. So how far do we back up. Topo maps, floats, landmarks and cane poles that we used to find elevation changes. We are constantly advancing. That’s our nature. Forward facing sonar has not made me an elite champion. So it still comes down to the angle in the box. I can see restraining the number of transducers. Maybe we do like NASCAR and have tournaments that are limited like running restrictor plates to make all the cars equal. Everything in our lives have advanced. Boats , outboards, trolling motors and our tackle. My first boat was plywood with 7.5 Sears pathfinder outboard. So again my question is how fare do we want to back up!

    I fish out of a 201 pro stratos. My trolling motor is cable steered only with Livescope Lvs 32 attached to the shaft. No spot lock and no shallow water anchors. I can promise you people like Dustin Connell and Jacob Wheeler and new generation dominating anglers would not be catching the same bags they currently are these days in my rig. It’s all about boat control. Always has been and always will. A fair trade off to level the playing field would be all FFS units are on cable steered trolling motors and no shallow water anchors. Non FFS units can. Just my opinion. I feel like the older generation is just mad because they can’t compete anymore because shallow water fishing is not as hot as it used to be. Tell me I’m wrong.
