That gorgeous stack of cushion covers starting @13:20 is absolutely to die for. Such stunning natural colors and indigenous patterns. The mind reels. I'm going in February and simply cannot wait. Our trip to Antigua, Guatemala and its amazing Mayan crafts markets in March of this year was a revelation, so I'm anticipating Cuzco to be yet another all-time highlight in terms of authentic crafts.
My ex was in the Air National Guard back in the 1980's-'90's. They would go to Central and South Ametuva every year. He brought back llama blankets(queen size) for in beds. After almost 40 yrs, they still look and smell as they did when he brought them home. Super warm. Beautiful. I love the colors the Peruvians use in their textiles. Great choices Meghan!!!
Wow! I loved this so much! Headed to Cusco for my 60th birthday in 28 days. So funny….I saw a bag I am literally coveting in your video. 😂 I’ll be on the lookout. Beautiful family, great vibes. God bless you all richly.
You are both such amazing parents, I love how you take the time to have “dates “ with just the two of you. When you put so much time and mental energy into raising wonderful children it’s important to remember to cultivate your relationship with your spouse.
Amen to that! So easy to get caught up in the kids' lives, parents don't focus on their own relationship at all. This couple is such a great example to us all!
@@ktelise They can probably just make a phonecall and their parents would be there in a matter of minutes. If you would be so concerned about every single thing that could happen you probably wouldn't take this trip at all.
I've loved all of your blogs, but this trip has been especially meaningful to me. You're honest about the "downs" and so appreciative of the beauty and sweet times. God bless all of you!
Beautiful haul of precious hand made items. I love supporting local artists. The sweaters and hat are so beautiful. Carlos has shared valuable information throughout your comments.
👍 👍 For taking care of your sweter made of Alpaca, try to wash them using soft detergent and do not put them into a washing machine. We at the family uses plastic bucket and wash them by hand using shampoo for hair or a soft-type detergent
I really liked the things in your Peru Haul. The cutest though was how proud your youngest son was of his hat. He was even wearing it while they watched a movie.
The best thing I did in Cusco was textile shopping. I bought a number of cheaper textiles that I won't feel bad cutting up and using in blankets and quilts... and one very expensive hand-woven alpaca table runner. It was the most expensive thing I bought in Peru, and as a textile artist myself I can tell you that it was worth every penny of the full price (a number of reasons that the textiles at that location were expensive. I'd researched beforehand and specifically set aside money to purchase there) but I could only afford the marked-down/clearance rack items. Someday I want to take a trip to the Andes specifically for textiles.
Gorgeous sweaters! Hand wash! They do shrink like mad. Those sweaters are the most wonder items you could bring back. Hubby always wishes he brought more back when he went. The are so soft and warm and light weight. Ours are now 40 years old! So they do last. Awesome they fixed for you. The rugs and bags are awesome, I loved seeing the market with you! And the alpaca farm, being a knitted myself, I was drooling over the beautiful yarns and colours. What a wonderful trip! Blessings!
This is probably the most comprehensive and accurate coverage of the Pisac market. I too struggle with just all the variety of craft work for sale at such low to moderate prices when you convert to USA dollars. Thanks for putting together this video and sharing your shopping experience in the Cusco area.
Peruvian textiles! I’m with you Megan. Beautiful. I enjoyed the look into how the wool was dyed too. Those sweaters were a really good buy too. In all... I loved this vlog. X
I LOVE the blue alpaca blanket. It's beautiful. And I wouldn't have been able to resist either the colorful alpaca or the stone one. And I would have had a difficult time walking away from the artwork. I'd never be able to put the rug on the floor - it would end up on the wall! Overall, you make me want to visit Cusco.
Wow, love the things you bought, maybe you could put some in every suitcase, I know they were happy you bought so much and gave them the prices they asked for, you guys are awesome.
So happy to see you vlog, I was having withdrawals..... the alpaca farm was interesting, loved the long haired ones! Shopping looks amazing, I hope Peter can find a treasure to remember this trip! Thanks again for taking us along on your adventures.
Incredible you guys !!!!! Where to start...where to start...okay okay....first, that stunning and absolutely delicious rug !!! So striking on the floor....love that ! Wish I was in that market with a couple of empty suitcases to fill up....speaking of which....your bag is fantastic Megan. Andrews chess set is fab...also his clever pro active thinking ahead of time...eg. bring the old stuff, throw it out and bring home new stuff [yes, that man is gonna be rich someday] Esthers' jersey is divine , uber classic and chic ....we all want that Esther...so lucky you !! I won't ramble too much..suffice to say It was a thoroughly enjoyable experience !!! How cute are the little alpacas !!! Oh yes I really really liked everything you bought...Daniels hat..and Judes'..and in particular the long vertical watercolour !! Hugs !
I had to laugh about your rug story! I did the same thing! My husband and I went to Istanbul but we were determined not to buy a rug. We did and had to buy a suitcase to bring it home! If course, it looks lovely in our home and yours will, too! 😊
AHHHH I love this. You guys are awesome for investing in small businesses like where you got that rug! You guys probably put so much food on peoples tables with your purchases. Love that! love you! hope you had an incredible vacation!!!
Oh my gosh Megan I've been watching you through this whole trip a d biting my lip thinking "is she ever going to by any of these beautiful hand crafts". Couldn't understand how you could resist. So now you've had your spree. Just buy a suitcase and check it through on your flight home. Anyway you are already home now. Live you guys.
About 30 seconds before the word TEXTILES came out of Megan’s mouth, I could see it written across her face! But in the background I also heard “MOM! MOM! MOM! MOM!” And date night was born!!!!!! 😂😂😂 LOVE YOU GUYS! Way to pre-shop MOM! 🤣❤️ Hugs I knew you’d be all over those fabrics! I would be too! Go Mike! You’re my newest fave SUPERHERO! No joke. Both of you! 💪🏼
Nice choices. I loved the water color. I hope you frame it. I used to have lots of pictures that needed framing. When we moved into our new home, we finally framed them. Maybe when you move into your new home you will get all those things Mile mentioned framed. Thanks for taking us to the market. I loved seeing all the colorful textiles. So THAT'S where Jude got his Pikachu hat, Lol! I''ve been wanting a colorful rug to go beside my kitchen cabinets. One of those rugs would be perfect!
I LOVE the Peruvian textiles and that rug you bought is gorgeous. We live in Australia ( our daughter was adopted from India) so Peru probably isn't on the cards for us so I have loved watching you travel. Thank you for sharing your trip with us x
You should go to Antigua, Guatemala. Oh the things you get at the markets there! Each time that we have gone, we got a blouse from each village. The design on them are beautiful and each village have there own design. I will try to get a picture of them, hanging on our fireplace.
Especially love the sweater & the rug. What low prices for all that stuff. I have wool rug on my kitchen floor that I purchased 10 yrs ago and it just lasts & lasts.
Looks so great !!! Awesome advice as I would defs get overwhelmed and just wanna buy everything. That bag to take the rug home was such a great idea. I so agree 're never enough pilows on the sectional. Ha ha.
I’m hearing you......I can’t concentrate here in India with Indian textiles with my children making choices too. Go you......I always come home with soooooo much❤️❤️Those prices too.....are amazing
