A great treat to not only hear this from Gene Autry, "the singing cowboy", but to also see this cut from the movie, with a real lamplighter! :)
I remember seeing that movie and particularly the Lamplighter song part. I must have been seven years old then.
Gene was known as "the singing cowboy" and this song tells us why. He was and still is my favorite singer.
Such an incredible voice. I grew up with his hits. Gene was a true musician.
I think that I just found my favorite rendition of my favorite song!

Beautiful song. Jim Ed Brown's favorite song. He said he heard it but did not remember where. He probably like most of us older folks,heard Gene sing it beautifully like he sang most songs.
