That is so cool....you always make the best when your out........my child hood was amazing....being out on the water every chance we had.......sometimes life gets in the way....but making the time is the best therapy....Thanks.....Steve
Field and Stream Magazines..my grandpa collected them..he was a master fisherman & my job, when he came back to camp, was to clean the fish. All I have are the sweet memories. Great video and awesome catches..
PHARRAOH yep...my g.pa had piles of them. I used to arrange them for him, by date. My g.ma collected Sunset magazine..weird..lol..sure miss them & all our great camping trips..le sigh
+HB Hiker did you see the spool fishing thing you gave me there? I was going to try it but the moss was so thick, you had to cast 100' just to get past it.
Makes my mouth water !! My brother if you ever make it out to the east coast. (southern maryland) We will make a place for you on the boat. A lot of fresh water fishing, but out here the thing is rock fishing (stripped bass) on the Chesapeake Bay. My pop is 5/6 years gone now. The best memories of my life are fishing with him on our all nighters. I miss those times with him, but the best thing I can do is pass on what he taught me to others. Your videos do this to me. Bring back so many "pictures in my head" of wonderful times. Brings a tear to the eye but better than that a BIG smile to my face.
+Maryland Stuffedham yeah, I know the feeling. All my childhood friends are dead now. three were suicide. I think of them all constantly, I am not sure but that is fact, constantly!
Alan, your story at the end really struck home with me - as does your general commentary in a lot of your videos. I too am both given peace and slightly haunted by the memories of my past. For me, it was growing up in Moab, Utah, and then following my parent's divorce, Grand Junction, Colorado (1 hour and 45 minutes away from Moab). Fishing, hiking the Grand Mesa, the Uncompadre Plateau, the La Sal Mountains, the vast expanse of the Book cliffs, the Canyonlands National Park and all of the "Unimportant" places in between where MOST of my memories were formed. I DEEPLY appreciate the way you make your videos - you simply cannot fake the wonder and wanderlust that you possess, and it carries a deep, abiding tone that makes a LOT of us feel as at peace (if even for a moment) as you must feel when you are there in it all. Thank you.
Beautiful comment . We are all created so beautiful . The Almighty is the master craftsman . A blessing to take a n the wonder of it all . I am so grateful for people as yourself that are genuine and true to yourself . Alan is such a inspiration
Was going there for Labor Day weekend to ride the skis but decided to go to Lake Isabella.... The drought is killing us though... Water levels are super low
Nice fish. I'm going to try that batter the next time I land some cats. I was near that area a couple days ago. Landed a couple nice cats. I posted video on TH-cam. Keep up the good videos.
The angeles forest has been in the news quite a bit lately with the body found and marijuana crops (and guns and ammo) found. You spend a lot of time there, have you ever run in to trouble?
+Junto I no, seen a few small pot farms, just kept walking. it is what you make of it. look for trouble, you can find it. most people up there know me and dont bother me.
PHARRAOH nice thanks also it was my first time fishing there and the only place i got to fish was on the right side of where you rent the boats so how do i get to miller? im pretty confused lol
Nicely done Brother! I certainly miss the fishing and hunting, and prospecting in SBNF, and the East Fork. As I was born and raised in commie country in your neck of the hood, per say. Now Im “FREE” living on the Motherlode of Az. Your an old soul like me that love and enjoy the outdoors! Keep the adventure spirit alive!
+Charles C. when there is, I do but that entire side of the lake is closed, you need hike in and no one there to take care and maintain it, so the inners went home to my garden. thanks for watching. Merry Christmas
+Chad Richardson i dont go that often any more. Its 74 miles from me. you pay if you drive in, do not if you walk. have licence, you WILL be checked 2 or 3 times
