David Byrne of Talking Heads said: The Velvet Underground only sold 11,000 copies of their first album. But everyone who bought it started a band.
I think it was Brian Eno who said that.
@@Raj-gn7xm have you ever seen David Byrne and Brian Eno in the same room at the same time?
@@walterlippmann6292 my life in the bush of ghosts
That's what they say
And I bought one the minute it hit the racks.
One of my favorite songs of all time. Period.
The lyrics are key with this band. Check out Venus in Furs - The velvet underground.
Doug Yules solo at the end is one for the ages imo
Found this song through the scene in Loki. An absolute banger
Check out ‘Rock n Roll’ or ‘Sweet Jane.’ That’s probably the songs I’d play for you after this. Velvet Underground were pretty experimental & some of their stuff is an acquired taste, but they have a ton of great songs & they were incredibly influential to other bands/musicians of the time.
great ill check those tow songs out. thanks for watching
This is my favorite reaction of yours. You truly look like you've gone to a different place and took us with you. A+
The Velvet Undergound - Venus in Furs. Trust me...this is my favorite band of all time.....second wood be Pale Blue Eyes.
Lou Reeds band. Welcome to 1970's music. The Black Crowes covered this and done a brilliant job.
It's funny but it's Doug Yule not Lou Reed on vocals on this song from their last album "Loaded." The irony is that Lou didn't really like this album although 2 of his most iconic songs "Sweet Jane" and "Rock 'n' Roll" appeared on it. Biz, you should listen to Lou Reed's "Sweet Jane" from his live album, "Rock and Roll Animal." The guitar intro is unbelievable.
Thank you both for the Insight 🙌🏿🙌🏿
@@John_Chu Often wondered what it would have turned out like if Lou hadn't left half way through the recording. My guess would be more deadpan; less melodic. It is a great song though, regardless. And while it took 40 years to arrive, The Black Crowes cover is indeed excellent. Sweet Jane off R&RA is a good shout!
Thank you for this! No One has reacted to this, my favorite VU song, that I've ever seen. T Y T Y T Y!!! It's a gorgeous song and sad story.
Yes, “and every night she falls,” is very bittersweet.. We’ve all been there, right?..
My favorite song of all time!
I'm pretty critical of statements like this, about favorite songs, but this one... I get it. It's a masterpiece, and I've never listened to this song and not felt it. Just viscerally related to it. What a beautiful track.
the velvet underground is the greatest band of all time. huge cultural influences and everything. react to every god damn song, regardless if on camera or not
Only band that could use seemingly basic chords and basic structure and make it sound completely original- because it always somehow was in every way.
Yeah, "Jesus" and "Pale Blue Eyes".
Such a great track, this whole album is incredible A+++++
It's November 8th, 2023... It is a blessing to see music appreciated! God bless!
I like this song. You should play SISTER RAY. It will blow your mind . the lyrics are the point. Lou Reed - lead singer and songwriter. Later, he would be inducted into RnR Hall of Fame. Get into Lou's solo efforts. Transformer. Every song is timeless.
Each Velvet Underground is packed with bangers. Specifically "peel slowly and see" "white light/white heat", my personal favorite the self titled, then this album and "VU" is just a cleanup of the best songs they had left. All near perfect
I've always felt this is one of the great underrated jams of rock n roll history. Everyone's all about the Allman Brothers (who are fantastic nd I love them too) or songs like Freebird or Hotel California etc. etc., but to me I'd take this song over the last two anyday. It's not flashy, it's not virtuosic, but it's simple, clean and most of all heartfelt. The vocals are not perfect but the almost 'naive' quality of them is so sincere and emotional.
Some of my fave VU songs are Sweet Jane from the same album, Waitin for the Man, Foggy Notion, I Can't Stand It, and maybe best of all What Goes On. Lou Reed went on to a solo career and sang a lot great songs, but to my ear his best work was with the Velvet Underground.
I agree 100% about What Goes On. It's right up there with White Light White Heat.
I love how you feel this masterpiece
If you like Velvet Underground please react to their song Venus in Furs. It's their masterpiece, I think. Thank you for the reaction.
The Velvet Underground is awesome and very influential. There songs have only become better over time. It’s technically not VU, but Lou Reed Intro/Sweet Jane is spectacular!
Foggy notion, All tomorrow parties, Venus in furs, Ocean, Sweet Jane, White light white heat, Heroin, Temptation inside your heart...
I'm not usually one for guitar solos or drums solos. This had both. And wow!
Biz, check out Lou Reed, Take a walk on the wild side. Lou Reed(Velvet Underground)
Man this guy just vibes 😎 i love it
You are now listening to one of the most influential bands of all time. Never that commercialy sucessful, (like whatever passes for popular music these days, its been crap for 20 yrs now.) But Lou Reed & co. wrote authentic songs, songs from the street, songs from the heart. Go listen to "What Goes On" next.
biz.... "when you listen to the lyrics, you are sad, when you listen to the music, you are happy" i can hear both. thank you for that man.
The velvet underground did some amazing songs. Heroin is a classic, Pale Blue eyes has a very similar vibe, and venus in furs is just epic....
Yeah! First time here. I recommend their song Rock and Roll
🙌🏿🙌🏿🙌🏿
I don't know this group. I do like going on your channel to not only check out music, but see all your different hair styles, for real Lmao! When you have it up you look super young! Love your channel
I give another vote for " Take A Walk on the Wild Side ". Heavy lyrics and a killer upright bass.
I'm so glad you dig it.
I love the Velvet Underground I agree with those who say check out Sweet Jane but I would also add Venus in Furs to the list to check out it is weird and epic
very lovely to see biz m. enjoying this bit of sappy yet all VU
Lou Reed - Perfect Day...he's the lead singer...his best solo song
Lead on this song was Doug Yule
Awesome track my man
The Velvet Underground is my favorite band. I often don't finish this song its really sad. Do one for "Sister Ray"
The Yule Brothers kill it on this track, Billy Yule on drums and Doug on lead and bass probably, with Lou on rhythm guitar? Where does that leave Sterling??Just a guess..
I see where Marshall Tucker got their inspiration
They’ve been told… Play it at my funeral, please..
try doing their song - heroin' ......yeah
the harmonies are gorgeous.
Definitely check out the black crows version! !
is it better than this one?
we miss you lou❤️❤️
Those drums, holy fuck.
Also check out Heroine, also one of their best songs
Best reaction to the song!
Thank You
This group was about the emotional vibe over the lyrics, great band, RIP Lou Reed
Velvet underground-white light white heat
🙌🏿
Best. Song. Ever.
heroin, what goes on, there she goes again, lisa says, candy says, stephanie says, ill be your mirror, im sticking with you. the list goes on and honestly, you will love every album. just step slowly into the inevitable world of the velvet underground.
Andy Warhol art as music spawned the Underground. Breakthrough art and music with a lasting legacy :-)
Lou Reed studied poetry under a well-regarded poet, Delmore Schwarz, at Syracuse Univ. Lou was a serious writer, especially in his early VU days. You should check out Street Hassle, from the LP of the same name. It’s one of my favorites of his.
Awesome band search for a couple of songs 'candy says' and 'Stephanie says'
it's Cool Bro it makes my eyes Wet also
Doug Yule did well, as long as someone told him what to do.
Nice one. . Check out Bad Company self-titled song Bad Company ,70s banger.
thanks for watching and the suggestion ill check it out
😎 Partial to Lou Reed & his amazing wife, Laurie Anderson. My best friend did sound for them for decades so got to see many shows by both Artist. 😁 It was always a treat when Lou did Velvet Underground songs during his shows. 😊🐰 #ENRGYZRBunny
You should check out their song " Rock and Roll " its a great song
Good song man!!! Not the first one would choose...but one of their finest
Amazing song. You guys might like Walk on the wild side.🙂
They are the greatest band ever. I miss Lou…. :(
id enjoy a beer and an adult conversation with you bizmatik.
The drummer is great in this song she deserves more recognition
Moe Tucker didn't play on _Loaded_ because she was pregnant during the recording. This vocal is terrible as well; I don't know if it's Doug Yule or just Lou Reed on a really bad day. I've never considered _Loaded_ to be an album by the same band that did the first three, and it's one I never listen to.
There's a really good You Tube tribute to her by a dude called Cam Forrester
Loved your reaction to the end solo. The song is bitter/sweet - it’s the last song on their last album, and although they were great, they had nothing at all…
This is one of my favorite Velvet Underground songs! 😍 🐰 #ENRGYZRBunny
Lou Reed period. "Waves of Fear"....."Busload of Faith"........(Doug Yule is singing lead on this here song.)
Song is so chill.
Lou Reed baby!!
I echo Susan's comment below about VU, and I would add that you should definitely listen to Satelite Of Love and Perfect Day, from Lou Reed as well. Lou Reed is the only artist to emerge from VU of real note, and he was an awesome artist who experimented with rock in beautiful and interesting ways. And yes to Sweet Jane, for sure, plus Walk On The Wild Side.
"the ocean", "im set free"
The best album of the 70s is David Bowie's album "Low"
More velvet!
Check out After Hours by Velvet Underground, thats my favorite. They were one of the early bands who sang about the more realistic version of life, with all its ugliness on display, unlike the more idealistically happy version of life usually expressed in songwriting, at least at the time. The Legend is, very few people bought the Velvet Undergrounds records back then, but all of them started bands. Punk and later Grunge, was heavily influenced by them, especially lyrically.
😎 The cool thing about being born in 🗽NYC was that I got to stalk The Factory (Andy Warhol & his famous friends) & The Dakota (John Lennon & Yoko Ono plus whoever was in town playing that night). 😍 I love Lou Reed, Nico & The Velvet Underground who were part of Worhols crew. 😊🐰 #ENRGYZRBunny
Can you react to Verve - When Drugs Don't Work
Alex G- pretend 💛
Lou Reed
Candy Says is a great song.
From the same album "I found a reason" "sweet Jane" "new age" Lou reeds music is beautiful and his lyrics are often vulgar.
I suggest you react to "I´ll be your mirror", a killer ballad:

Velvet Underground started in 1964. Lou Reeds band. I've never heard of this song. Didn't do much for me, sorry.
lou reeds is that the lead singer?
@@watchbizmatik Yes, Lou Reed.
Take a walk on the wild side
@@watchbizmatik Doug Yule is singing lead on this song
the normies love this album
This is their best album, idc what anyone says. Nico sucks
