Tucker the power fade on your Atom is an easy fix (called out specifically) in a troubleshooting page from (SOUTHWEST AIRSPORTS). Had the same problem (fixed first try with said information) and commented many times on this channel and Kyle's) if anyone reads this let everyone else know it's the fuel metering valve in the WB 8 carb. (SOUTHWEST AIRSPORTS Top 80 troubleshooting). it will not tell you how to fix the visoratti cracking style exhaust cuz the top 80 doesn't have that problem but shares the same carb and engine design of the poor copie inferior atom.
Glad Jacklyn isn't mad and has a good sense of humor about the leaf thing. (And as using a paramotor as a leafblower sounds like something i would do, I glad to learn from your mistakes 😁)

Off the charts video, and, oh yeah, leaf blowers can be had at Lowe's or such and at a relatively modest cost. Just messin with ya Tucker. Great job trouble shooting it! You're epic! 🏆
Honestly, despite not being picked as the winner myself, the fact that he gave his prize to his sister just really warmed my heart and I wouldn't change it! 😊

Thanks for doing that giveaway...you'd been talking about wanting to do something like that for a long time, glad you are finally able. I'm glad you gave the heads-up about using your paramotor as a leaf-blower. I actually did a leaf-blowing demo for my neighbor, so I better check my gear. LOL. Glad Jaclyn took the news well...lol...she's so awesome. Another friend told me to strap my paramotor into the back of my truck bed, like you did in this video, so I can start and warm-up my motor while still strapped to the truck. I'm gonna start doing that.

There is a great product if you wish to check the mixture of any engine and it is called a colourtune. It is a spark plug that has a glass window to see the actual flame front as the engine runs. Comes with a detailed colour chart and accessories so that you can see the plug well away from the prop. We use them a lot for two stroke ultralight engines because the result is very accurate and shows if you are running rich or lean. Unless you want to fit a CHT gauge it will make sure your mixture is perfect and save your engines.
A really good cleaner for throttle cables is chain saver Teflon spray from Walmart. I’ve had race quads and squirting this down the tube and cycling the throttle will help it a lot. Also put a light coat of grease on the barrel nuts at the ends of the cable. Those can bind up and end up breaking. If you happen to worry, buy an extra cable and zip tie it to the framing so it virtually takes up the same space.

Just loved the seeing the look on the flight winner' face as she was flying ... what a nice person and I think she might have some natural skills there ... really loved her reactions!
Look for a very small pin hole in the pump diaphragm. hold it up to a very bright light. May suck air only in the up angle because of the extra force on the fuel flow.
I was told by a small engine mechanic, that the longer it takes for an engine issue to demonstrate (declining power after climbing out for a bit), the further away from the carb the issue likely is. In your case, I'd bet it's something fuel line, primer or clunk related.

I had a very similar problem with my Top80, which I am given to understand the Atom80 is based on. It would act weird on the low end, be a pain to start, and after a while it would occasionally lose high end. I spend a long time fiddle farting around with the carb, but since changing carb settings inherently effects how the engine runs, and the problem wasn't very consistent, I thought I had fixed it even though I hadn't done anything. I ended up losing top end power over a field, and had just enough power to maintain altitude back to my LZ. I took it to Lance Marczak, and had him take a look at it. I ran it with AVgas in the past, and even though I had stopped using it, Lance suspected a sticky ring due to lead buildup. We tore down the top end, and sure enough, that was the issue. If you've ever run avgas, it might be worth looking at that.
Was wishing I won but so happy it went to a guy who could gift it to his sister. She seemed so happy and excited. Nice brother, nice gift, beautiful moment ❤
I had a similar weak mixture mid range power sag. on my chainsaw . i replaced the fuel like you did even went to Motul 800 2 stroke oil.. Nice almost no smoke at 50 to 1 mix. Turned out to be the diaphragm in the carb . I replaced the small filter which comes in the service kit . Now it starts and runs great. I would have thought you should be well tuned into, fuel mixture settings , looking at the model aeros hanging up.
TUCKER! I am an old Harley Davidson Motorcycle Mechanic and have done many High Performance rebuilds from the ground up. When I first started I came across a book put out by SIFTON; Sifton's Guide To Performance And Styling" that had a phrase that stated; "An ENGINE"S HORSEPOWER is DIRECTLY RELATED to it's ABILITY to BREATHE"!!! This statement is TRUTH! With this in mind consider any and all "choke" points that could restrict the flow. One probable point is the muffler. Many recreational vehicles install a "spark arrestor" between the head and the muffler....basically a screen......that can become clogged and is usually caused by carbon from running too rich a fuel to gas mixture. It is easily cleaned by muffler removal and spraying with carb. and choke cleaner.....or by removable altogether. (check your local laws) While you have the muffler off check to see if it flows easily with a high volume of air...like the exhaust hose on your shop vacuum. Then clean it also with lots of carb. and choke cleaner and see/listen for any difference in the back pressure on the shop vacuum. I would love to hear your thoughts on this.
That was pretty cool of Eric Schneider to gift his win to his sister, props to him! As far as my paramotor, I'm still going to use mine for a leaf blower. I'll just check the airbox afterward. :)
The same number of people seem to thumbs down these videos... I suspect they are jealous folks who do a thumbs down only because Tuckers videos are successful. It's literally pointless.
Water in the fuel would cause a very noticeable stumble. I would check your fuel venting. Especially if it takes a lot of full throttle time to reproduce it. Either way, good luck and thanks for the videos.
I really hope Chelsea buys a paramotor instead of a house. She seems like a natural I'm sure her and Eric would have many rad flying adventures together.
Had same problem with mine, intermittent drop in power on full throttle-fresh breeze top 80. It was the metering lever setting, especially if it has the wg8 carburetor with the button diaphragm as apposed to the tang type diaphragm, basically metering lever needs to come up to .7mm from top surface
It'll be interesting to see what is causing the power drop at 100%. Lets see now...Carb ice, tank venting, diaphram lever, spark plug, ignition trouble, bad gasket, plugged in-tank filter (Kyle's Clunk), water in fuel, ethanol, stuck ring, bad crankshaft seal, water in fuel, carb settings, primer bulb, tank sloshing, density altitude, season change, and gremlins are the possibilties so far.
in colder weather you mite have to open the HI end 1/8 of a turn to richen it, if the motor was loosing power at Hi throttle it might be slightly lean.
Surprised to see an air filter in there. I don’t believe my Blackhawk Talon 3.0 has a filter. Just a hollow airbox of a certain shape for resonant tuning. Great way to move leaves, though! 😁 There ain’t a leaf blower on the planet that can come close to the volume this one puts out! 😂 Now if the issue persists, you’re probably having an ignition problem. Those are tough to pinpoint when they’re intermittent like that. Usually just firing the parts canon at the thing ( Replacement of every component ) will fix the problem, IF it is ignition related. Nice of Eric to give his sister the ride! Something tells me she’ll be buying a paramotor pretty soon. 😎 Great stuff, man! 🍻
Huge props to Eric for gifting his tandem to his sister. A flight with Tucker would be an amazing experience, even for someone who already flies. So it’s really cool that he did that.🙌🏼🙌🏼
The seasonal change in fuel blend may have required a change in mixture settings. Affects some motors more than others. Just speaking from motors in general, not paramotors specifically.
Hey Tucker I've been watching you for a long time now. I was just wondering what you thought about the Dubai jet pack wing suit videos? Also in the future when they become available to the public would you want to try it out? Or if you had the chance to test it out would you? in the long run I think paramotors are cooler because they go allot slower and you can take in all the scenery. However I think it would be worth a try.
Your motor is lean on the top end too. Richen 1/8 turn. Get it hot.. And try it out. Also if there is a filtered fuel pick up in the tank or any other fuel filter in the system check that too. Even if the motor is new. Really lay a hairy eyeball on the fuel pick up inside the tank.
If it happens again, and that is a pulse carb rather than a float carb, a leak in that primer bulb or fittings maybe could cause a lean out situation if air is leaking in. If the fuel in the line is always pressurized (gravity?), though, obviously that can't happen. Because the pulse carb is a volume driven diaphragm flow device...it pumps once per stroke, if driven off the case pressure, and if air is present in the line it will go lean. Again, if positive pressure exists in the line, only a gas leak to outside can occur and it would have to REALLY be leaking to cause a problem. I know mechanical problems and their likely causes, I'm just not at ALL familiar with how the paramotor engine is set up. I also on occasion in outboard boats, had the problem of the fuel pump drawing tank vacuum (you could actually see the bulb crush) if you forgot to open the threaded air vent on the cap, so if there is a tank vent check that for blockage, as well. Hope this helps. If the above criteria are met for a possibly non pressurized line, try running it in your hold down rig and if you can get to it safely try bending, pulling, pushing lightly the hoses around, or lightly squeezing the clamped joints and see if you can get it to repeat. In a float carb this would likely make no difference unless the leak was pretty significant, enough that the fuel pump couldn't keep up. For the vent problem, I don't think this would happen until the motor had been run a while, not on first climb out, but removing the tank cap and retightening it before the next flight would rule this out, if it happens again very early on in the flight. This is not something that would be intermittent though, I wouldn't think. I used to see this sometimes in the direct feed RC engines, where the problem is most accentuated, either with leaks or scavenging the last bit of fuel. Assuming you have seen that, too. That is a different type of carb, just venturi driven Bernouli effect, but the same lean out can occur for the same reason. You are thinking right, always recheck something you changed at or just before the problem started. It can sometimes save you a lot of looking around. Obviously not remotely always, though. "I thought I RUINED her paramotor while using it as a leaf blower..." Can I assume you are the problem child of the family? :-) Sure was EFFECTIVE though, wasn't it? "It's so beautiful" "I'm so happy" Yup, seems like you hooked another one.
@@xenonram I do small engine repair for a living. I know some of the small carbs on chainsaws ect have a rubber one way valve in the jet. Carb spray swells them up.
Not enough debris to cause that problem. Check your fuel delivery system - Carb has excess fuel in it, but restricted fuel lines/filter/etc cause a starvation during the heavy fuel use climb out.
I really like that trike of yours. It could carry a lot of batteries flown as a mono trike. One hour endurance plus the 15 min reserve i need seems closer and closer :-)
Tucker you have to buy her a new motor!)))) if something bad happens it will be because you with them leaves bru! )) Thanks for letting us in on this one.
As a former military test pilot, I would argue finding the problem in the air is the worst place possible place to find the problem...but than again, at least your parachute is already deployed!
Great video as always Tucker!! Appreciate the content I really want one of these damn things! Any chance the risky hoodie is gonna be restocked at bigger sizes? Fingers crossed!
Particularly with the foam filter. It wasn't even close to being caked, and stuff would have to get past it first. Not sure if it may be the case with Tucker/Jacklyne's setup, but on most small engine videos the issues with carburetors seem to tie into a diaphragm wearing out or some float or metering rod being a little sticky.
Weird my atom 80 has been doing the exact same thing yours did in the truck. Maybe time for a carb adjustment I guess. You changed the plug before you tested it in the truck?
Funny I used mine as one last week. Had shredded leaves in 4 or 5 bags. Dumped them curbside. Township leaf sucker shredded Them into powder. Blacktop turned brown with leaf dust. I blew that away with paramotor
Did you try taking the spark plug out. That would indicate whether the motor is running lean or rich, as it should be a light chocolate brown coatings on the electrodes..
I have a reflex glider . Can you explain the difference in free flying between a reflex wing and a normal glider? Adventages and disadventages? If the trimmers permit different flying positions for more or less speed., why aren´t all the gliders build with trimmers? thank you!
I was wondering why you use two-stroke engines, with four stroke engines are so much better no pre-mixing more gas mileage and more torque. And specially more dependable.
Power to weight ratio, 2-stroke engines weigh less. I think the dependability concern might not be accurate with the engines used in aviation today. I know a few pilots with 2-strokes that quit in flight, all of them was a fuel issue, not an engine issue. Water in fuel, small plastic piece clogging fuel lines.
Four strokes typically have less torque than an equivalent two stroke, and in addition to the extra weight and complexity, two strokes seem like a better choice to me, but I'm not an engineer
I'm still thinking carb ice. It can happen in warmer weather. How do these engines prevent it? Is there any heated air going into those airboxes? Or it could be electrical if something is partially grounded or shorted it might work fine until full power is needed or it'll be more more random. Still I'd bet carb-icing.
I’m thinking more like too lean on the high end.. don’t know if that carb has an adjustable high needle but if it does a 1/8 turn richer ( turned out) might help.. definitely test at wot on the ground for more than a few seconds... maybe a 1 minute run and see if it runs hot and starts to sag.
Dude your channel really has got me hooked just realized you live in Jersey to you want to trade a 2019 Kodiak 700 got it all hooked up lift kit winch LED lights I need a paramotor I have to fly drones are not doing it for me no more
A two-stroke engine is not as dependable as a four stroke engine plus you do not have to pre-mix your gas plus it doesn’t have as much gas you’ll be getting a lot more air time for how much fuel you burn plus it’s way more dependable easier to start. A four stroke engine will outlast a two-stroke in time. For example look at the reviews on the small Honda engine Honda makes a great engine. 🤔
The power to weight ratio isn't there. Those little 5.5 horse hondas weigh 33lbs. The moster 185 weighs in at 31lbs and makes 25 horse power. Granted they do make 4 stroke paramotor engines. They're just not as popular.

Geez, I can't watch these first-time tandem buddy flights without crying.
I’d love more motor maintenance videos! I don’t fly yet, but they might be helpful in the future!
Seeing the smile of someones first time makes me smile.
You just need another motor for fall cleanup.
Love your channel man
What a great ambassador for aviation! Well done.
that was cool he had his sister Chelsea do the tandem.
Always enjoy your videos!
"I thought I RUINED her paramotor while using it as a leaf blower..."
Can I assume you are the problem child of the family? :-) Sure was EFFECTIVE though, wasn't it?
"It's so beautiful" "I'm so happy"
Yup, seems like you hooked another one.
Dont spray the carb with carb spray. It may have a one way rubber flap on the jet. It will swell. Use ultra sonic cleaner. No harsh chemicals
Won't hurt it.
Tucker, its probably a faulty wire in the throttle when the cable bends in a specific position, that is why you might not feel it all the time.
Paramotor prop air speed not enough to blow leaves compared to 200+ MPH leaf blower. But it's a fun useful time saving prep. before the leaf blower.
I’m looking forward to hearing about a trip with the toy hauler.
Yea, should be interesting! Would love to travel around with a fifth wheel and a paramotor some day!!
Right now the loose plan is to head to Florida sometime after Christmas. 😁
so awesome Tucker!
Not only did you take her for an awesome ride but you let her try flying and gave her some instructions!
That’s barely any debris. That won’t cause it.
Township leaf sucker shredded
Them into powder. Blacktop turned brown with leaf dust. I blew that away with paramotor
Did you try taking the spark plug out. That would indicate whether the motor is running lean or rich, as it should be a light chocolate brown coatings on the electrodes..
"I feel like I fixed something." I'm usually less sure "I might have fixed something". Very cool how the dude gave his ride to his sister.
I have a reflex glider . Can you explain the difference in free flying between a reflex wing and a normal glider? Adventages and disadventages? If the trimmers permit different flying positions for more or less speed., why aren´t all the gliders build with trimmers? thank you!
Might be a good idea to go over the steps (with her )for a engine fail at all different heights?? A refresher course??
You seriously cracked me up.
I was wondering why you use two-stroke engines, with four stroke engines are so much better no pre-mixing more gas mileage and more torque. And specially more dependable.
Ususlly the rpms on a fourstroke of same size is less than a 2 stroke of same size engine
Inappropriate use of an aircraft! I'm reportin' ya to the F A A! Just kidding, Tucker. ;) Thanks for the video, and congrats to your winner. :)
2:19 that super cub came in waaay too fast(me being the one guy that likes planes here)
I'm still thinking carb ice.
Love your videos
wow your in NJ, same!
Dang, best idea yet! Wife wants leaves blown FAST and I want a paramotor... problem solved!!
Could be fuel shutoff clogged or fuel pump going bag , fuel problem for sure.
Busted with a Smile!!!; )
Which siphon are you using? I got one of those shake ones, but it's fatter and I could never get it to pull a flow out of my paramotor.
Hey Tucker, was that "Blairstown Airport" ? It Looked familiar. FOD is never good!
Holy shit.....he's got one leg, and decided to use a foot launched aircraft. What an absolute stud!
i am curious.. how well paramotors do in high density altitude?
Hey Tucker ur my favorite youtuber
