I always get a kick out of those who say if John would have just done this or that he would have been more famous. The fact that he's not too famous is just another feather in his hat as to how good he is. Not everyone likes blues. It has to resonate in your soul and I suppose not everyone has lived a hard and interesting life (or is the Sensitive Kind). Personally I think that has a lot to do with it. Historically the truly great artists in many genre's don't become famous until after they are dead. Strange isn't it. John's one in a million with his voice, his keyboards, harp and occasional guitar work and his uncanny ability to attract some of the greatest guitarists in the world. Enjoy for now John's over 80 and still doing it. Most lose their voices long before then but not John. Also being famous or popular isn't what it's about. :Pop culture and Pop music is for kids the common listener. But John's music is for those special souls with an ear to hear that soul touching mixture of notes called the blues.
I cried hard today when i found out about John he dedicated his life to playing the blues and he was a master at it dosent matter if your black or white Mayall owned the blues music in his magnificent way
This is certainly not what I would call 'typical John Mayall' stuff but it sure is good. I'd never have thought he could do a J.J. Cale song as good, or even better - but here it is. Well done John Mayall.
Love Mayall, I had an album of his In 1970....this version is so Sensitive plus+++. MISS musicians like him, Green, I was fortunate to be around the Best in San Francisco. I hope others enjoy the real.
Don't take her for granted she had a hard time don't misunderstand her or play with her mind treat her so gently it will pay you in time you gotta know she's a sensitive kind tell her you love her each and every night you will discover she will treat you right if you believe i know you will find there ain't nothing like a senstitve kind she gets so lonely waiting for you you are the only thing to help her through Don't take it for granted...
When someone asks my favorite song I usually say, well for this week it is .......... Because my favorite changes. However, the more I listen to this song with all its nuances, overtones and syncopations the more I love it. Some songs I get tired of listening to quickly but this song seems different. It seems I go a little deeper into all the subtleties and gradations every time I listen. This is magnificent, wonderful, like a heavenly orchestra, magical beyond words. It is truly special music. The whole is greater than the sum of the parts. Synergy, I believe they call it. I think I just fell in love.
one of the best songs ever written in my humble opinion and the many covers made by the many different artists it lends itself to there interpretation of it, JJ Cale obviously heads the list but this one is a very very close second.....
Got to see him at Biscayne Babies in Coconut Grove in the mid 80s. There was hardly anyone there but we were surrounded by disco clubs in those days. Glad I got a chance to be up front and center. He was great. The blues never get old!
John is and has been quite a talent. He can play so many different styles. This one's exceptional and the added harmonies of using two guitars Coco on blues guitar and Sonny on slide. Most tunes just have one player sort of combining the two but not John. Adds a lot depth to the harmony and then John's keyboard work fantastic as always. You can hear JJ in this song even if he's not there.
Don't take her for granted, she has a hard time Don't misunderstand her or play with her mind Treat her so gently, it will pay you in time You've got to know she's the sensitive kind Tell her you love her, each and every night And you will discover she will treat you right If you believe, I know you will find There ain't nothing like the sensitive kind She gets lonely waiting for you You are the only thing to help her through Don't take her for granted, she has a hard time You've got to know she's the sensitive kind
His voice. Nothin else like it. A real singer doesn't try too hard, or try to impress or have a certain sound or an effect on you. They just sing their insides to the outside, and leave it at that. Just let it all sit there and steep. Take it or leave it.
(4 years ago) I know Mayall's music, from 1964 to 1977, like I know the back of my hand... so, old as this is (1990), this performance is new to me. And, my, isn't he consistent? It's a J. J. Cale composition, I can hear Santana doing it, but it sounds like a Mayall tune, now, and forever. (Addendum, two years ago) In the '60's, he and the Bluesbreakers introduced audiences in Britain, and over here, to Albert King and J.B. Lenoir tunes (among others) that were little known... Why shouldn't he do the same with a lesser-known J.J. Cale tune in 1990? (Further addenda, a year later) In 1990, Mayall would have been around 57 years old... he's around 81 now, and still performing. I believe the fiery guitar solo, in the best Clapton/Green/Taylor tradition is by Coco Montoya.
RIP John Mayall (November 29, 1933 - July 22, 2024), aged 90
You will be remembered as a legend
Been enjoying his music since 1970.

even better WTF R U on about Mic far cough ?
This song has been done by many, but personally, this is my favorite version. So nice.
Check out Eric Clapton and Friends - The Breeze, Don White version. It's pretty good.
Although this cover is very nice, and Mayall absolutely nailed it, I have to go with the original JJ Cale version as my favorite.
Emotional guitar solo!! R.I.P. dear John!!❤🎸
Добрый вечер друзья мои спасибо за музыку ❤❤❤❤❤
One of the best has left us forever. I am so sad and am now putting on his LPs and getting drunk. Rest in peace.

Rip john still listening ❤❤❤❤
I can never make my mind up if I prefer JJ Cale's original version or John Mayall's cover. Both classics at any rate!
This one´s better. Cale´s versions is anemic...
WRONG JJ's got more soul and feeling. But then Again I take that it's a matter of taste ;-D
But original !!
Maybe we can just enjoy listening to both :-)

I rather have a strong, positive and mature woman but this song is amazing
Super!

I just checked out Bluebird Records...some pretty impressive artists...everyone from Artie Shaw to Sonny Boy Williamson.
Still a great interpretation of JJ Cale's song. At par with Santana's version.. Melodic guitar solo. Great song if I may say so.
I treat her bad and I miss her
May he RIP.
Memories - not particularly wonderful - with this great track.

plutôt pas mal tres cool dans l'esprit de JJ
Ako je nešto lijepo i sofisticirano odsvirano. onda je to ovo.
j.j. cale. a vo je dobro. mayall kao uvijek, iz 30
Its a stain on the Cleveland Music Hall of Fame to not include this Artist.
What an awesome song. I think Buddy Whittington is on the guitar. Or maybe Coco Montoya? Hmmmm I'd say this is Whittington playing.
