Russian is my 2nd language - your cursive is written almost exactly as I write in cyrillic! With a few exceptions because the character is different (i.e., кiтап , итд...) , even hard and soft signs, exactly as in Russian! So.. I can read Kazakh so easy , but ... I don't know the meaning :-) .. for that, I'll have to actually study.
@Calvados33 Maybe we'll see a situation like in Chinese where there are thousands of characters to learn but also a phonetic alphabet that's super-useful for foreign students: Pinyin . But compared to Chinese characters (hanzi), Russian or Kazakh in Cyrillic is so much easier.. and I think better actually than any Latin-character Kazakh alphabet. The Cyrillic letters in both languages are much more accurate phonetic representation of the sounds.. once you learn the pronunciation rules, you can read all day without knowing the meaning of the words, and you can be easily understood in both languages. Kazakh should not go 'Latin', imho. I vote for the beauty of Cyrillic over the convenience of Latin characters.
IMO the kazakh cyrillic is beautiful, unlike the latin script, which outside of the lingua latina needs so many diacritics just to say hello... EDIT: the clear example is the polish word 'cześć' (hello), where are two diacritized letters (ś and ć) and a digraph (cz)

No offence but this video is probably going to be redundent in a few years time because you guys are currently transitioning to the Latin script and President Nazarbayev seems very adament to Kazakhanize and de-Russionize as soon as possible.

@Calvados33 Cyrillic is based on the Greek alphabet, not Arabic.
@@wherezthebeef yea but Qazaq used to use an alphabet inspired by Arabic as their writing system
also the switch to Latin is largely political so it’s less about aesthetics and more about...y’know

Do people really write this way? seems tedious and looks more calligraphic than it is for everyday use.
Traditional chinese is crazier the lol. Each character has many strokes
Yes, because it's faster
No, no different really that writing Russian in cyrillic, which is very smooth, fluid and easy.
@@SereVie Haha.. True!! But Chinese people take a lot of shortcuts in handwriting, 15 strokes become.. about 6! Still, a lot...

Why old and real Kazakh language have "Arabic" type of writing? why not now? Why you follow the Russian handwriting style?
Because we were a part of Soviet Union and they changed the alphabet(we actually had Latin alphabet between this two)
