Rinpoche isn’t a noun, as though one can refer to ‘rinpoches’. It’s not the name of an official qualification, degree, or otherwise standardized designation. It’s just an honorific that Vajrayana traditions relay to various lamas for being lineage holders or otherwise for being notable proponents of their respective traditions. I know that I’m making a pedantic point but from a linguistic standpoint it’s worth pointing out.
