I made myself Most uncomfortable getting out of debt. I found I no longer even want the things I used to buy on credit. I went without tv...now have one (pd with cash) and don't watch it. I don't have to plan a No Spend Month. I just only buy what is needed- and I'm totally comfortable with so much less! I turned my heat Way Down to the low 60s in Midwest winters. I've turned the thermostat Up during the heat and humidity of our summers. I don't buy clothes cept for very basics. I cook at home and bring leftovers for lunch at work. I used to Hate leftovers! So much food went to waste.
The trainer I follow on TH-cam says, we have to workout to the point of discomfort to see results. We have to be willing to do hard things in order to grow. Excellent video.
This is soo good! I may be considering lessening comfort in the near future-relocating to a place to live that actually decreases rent over time…but have been torn because I’m used to the comforts of an attached garage and washer/dryer…wondering if life would be miserable without these conveniences. I think I should check out that book!
Yay, it's in my Libby. Thank you for the recommendation. If I ever feel like I don't have enough comforts, I watch ThruHikers or Laura Try. ThruHikers walked from Mexico to Canada. Laura Try rowed across the Atlantic and lived on an island. It's very motivating.
After your dad had Michael on his show with Mike Rowe, I listened to it on Audible. It was convicting. I started the cold shower in the morning, taking the stairs all the time vs just sometimes and looking for a rucking backpack.
Thanks for summarizing this! I tried to read the book, but by maybe 1/3 of the way through I just couldn't handle any more talk about killing animals. I tried to push through, but it just grossed me out so much. I guess the book did its job - testing me with discomfort, ha.
My wife told me she keeps learning impactful things from her yoga instructor. I'm glad to pay for the lessons it seems to make her really happy and relaxed.
We did a book with our sons called "Created to Work". From the time God created Adam & Eve and said, "Tend the garden" we've forgotten our purpose. We now believe that kids lives are about playing and fun. As adults it's about comfort, recreation, and vacation life. That was never God's plan.
Rachel, it would be so great to have your mom on the show 🤍
Yesssss!!!!
I agree
Dave always says when they went bankrupt, Sharon would have left, but they didn't have a car

I would love you to suggest books more often! Currently reading the psychology of money from a previous video of yours and love it!

Teen of the 80s. We were the frost latch key kids ! People cringe at that now. Lol. We came up with all kinds of ideas then. Lol.

I just started this book.
On my list already as a next read 👍 thanks girl.
Super episode. Great ideas for eye opening, simples changes to get out of your comfort zone.
Just added this to Libby, looking forward to reading it.

The Bible is truth, yoga is Eastern religion. Not of God, Jesus wants our worship.

Of course! You think a mattress company should advertise a rocky and uncomfortable mattress?
It was an example of comfort in our world.
