    I want to thank you for posting this. My parents are from Cairo and haven’t been there since I was 3. This is an amazing visual insight into Egypt and also what my father did for me by migrating from Egypt to the US in the early 70a. Thank you, Baba.

      Houses and gardens, I suppose. One can see that besides poverty there are rich neighbourhoods as well. High walls protect them....The piramids are a bit out of Cairo, in Giza, which is part of the city but in fact another little settlement. He is walking around that area.

    This is a great WAILK!!! Thank you for sharing the beautiful scenery of Cario. Cario is a beautiful city of Egypt. I visited Cario and other places of Egypt in April of 2023. I visited Cario, Luxor, Kermit, and Aswan. The people there are very friendly and welcoming. The places we seen such as the great pyramids, the Sphinx and the Temples in Luxor and aling the Nile River. We really enjoy the sails on the Nile River to Aswan. Egypt is a beautiful place worth visiting. Thank you for sharing. 🇪🇬 ❤️ 😊

      that's the "roman well". very unknown and unexplored place, probably a burial site. the staircase most likely leads to a system of underground burial chambers but they are all hidden since at the staircase's bottom lies water, hence nobody can go there and see what's further in

    Living in hot Arizona, it's an experience to view the Mideastern heat, urban to rural to desert. It's also an experience to view the scenes of life in a completely different part of this world. Ironically, I am writing this comment on day three of the Hamas invasion of Israel and I suspect these scenes in Cairo would be similar (sort of) to Israel and Gaza. So sad a situation for both sides. By the way, I love this video and your occasional comments.

Enough to imitate picking up something and move your arm as if you are flinging something at them...They immediately run away....

    The subdivision of your hotel location was quite a labyrinth of crooked streets and dead end roads, taking over 20 minutes to exit to the main street ! And those buckets of cement with metal poles in the middle was a real curiosity. It seems as though they use them to secure their parking spaces. It was a clever idea, though a stunt like that would land ya behind bars in Los Angeles :) At the 24 minute mark, you passed a golf course. At first I thought it was Mena House, but not sure. Do you know the name of the hotel? I'm just a tourist in Egypt, so it's great to have a hotel reference to get orientated. I've stayed at Mena House twice, but remember a busy street behind it, not a secluded subdivision. Awesome walk !

    • @oceanq
      @oceanq  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hiyah! That was one long walk! Had a destination in mind and just kept the sun in roughly the same place as I walked! I have no idea what the hotel was called, just went there for some coffee before starting! Decent view there though👍👍 The cement poles seem to be a feature here. I think the bawabs are in charge of them, ensuring the spaces don’t get taken by anybody else. Cheap and it works I suppose! Oh and yeah I didn’t expect to walk past a golf course, but this is Egypt so wasn’t that surprised😂 Off to Saqqara this weekend and maybe to the airforce museum. Need some culture in me!

    Eu sei que meus comentários escritos em português do Brasil não serão lidos. Bom entanto, muito particular, fiquei chocado com a periferia da cidade do Cairo. As periferias das cidades do mundo sofrem muito o abandono e o lixo. O meio ambiente do entorno das cidades nos causa muita dó e as populações tradicionais sofrem.
