I’ve done this before. Used a large chisel I made to chop it down after cutting grooves with the saw. It worked, not well. But I got it low enough to not hit it with the mower.
Back in the day, my dad would take a wood bit and drill hole in the stump, then he would pour diesel mixed with some waste oil, in the holes and let it soak. A bit later he would dump in some more and light it. It would burn and then smolder for a few days.
@@homeprojectswithnick It shouldn't end up in the ground. He would just drill a couple of deep holes in the stump towards the middle, then put enough in to soak it. It would start to burn and then just smolder until most of it was gone. To me it seemed like a long drawn out process.
@mrwhamisrick Yup. It's not leaking into the ground. You're getting more shit in your well from the rain than that. Yes, rent a stump grinder, but my problem with renting one is how close the nearest rental place is to me. I have to drive 1 hour 30 minutes to the nearest rental place in order to rent. Then 1.5 hours back. Not really feasible for me, but a stump remover would be great.

use the circular saq to make checkerboard wide or lots of slits on the stump and pour epsom salt on it and let it sit and rot out on its own... no need for sledge hammer 🤗
I’d be a shame if there were rocks and dirt that could’ve knotted up in the stump, but I’m sure stumps are perfect and solid wood all the way through 🤷♂️
It works of course, but what about when you are trying to get it below the ground level and you are in all of that dirt and rocks around and under the stump and you hit them with your saw blade? A small chainsaw would do the same thing but a little better, but still the same dilemma with the dirt and rocks. Removing a stump most of us want it gone below the yard level so we can smooth it out and plant grass. We want away from the unsightly stump period.

Actually, it's a great idea, thank you. Working on stumps now.
Legend has it Timmy rented a stump grinder the next day and completed the job
It worked to get it flush to the ground… then i started a fire on it.

I’m sure that would work, I don’t want to be putting oil and diesel in the ground near my well though. Might work well for other people though.

I might try this but I'm going to put the blade on an angle a bit and cut from different directions creating triangular blocks.
Hire someone with a stump grinder, save your self a few days

There you go what? You made it 2 inches shorter and now you don't have the flat surface and cant repeat the steps anymore
Well u had a good saw then you did this
An axe would work with this as well.
More likely to have a saw than a stump grinder. So yeah, it’s not the best but will work.
Just because you can, doesn’t mean you should …
Yeah but I need the top below ground level then fill it in with dirt. I'd never run my saw through dirt

Yes a stump grinder is required
If you close you eyes real tight and listen real hard ; you can hear him stll....
Just drill a hole and fill it with gasoline and lay some dirt or bricks or sand around it so it doesn't spread to the grass
