  • In this video I show you how I work on my graphghans by working on an already ongoing project. 2 rows only. This is not part of the graphghan Series. I will do a much smaller graph from start to finish in an upcoming video.

    ~ 3 MAIN PARTS OF COLOR CHANGING ~
    11:58 - New Color comes early. Solution: Loosely finish Stitch and pull new yarn THROUGH diagonal line created
    13:17 - New Color comes on time. Solution: Loosely finish Stitch and pull new yarn THROUGH vertical line created
    9:25 - New Color comes late. Solution: Tuck under old color until you reach new color.
    Only use for small lateness, if its late by more than two stitches, start a new bobbin

    I love your blanket! I love cardinals. I noticed you yarn under when you bring the yarn from the back and yarn over to finish. Does this make the stitch tighter/better? I do the opposite; yarn over when pulling thru and yarn under to finish. Should I be doing the opposite? Also, I use the extra large plastic clothes pins from Dollar Tree as bobbins. I saw someone on TH-cam using them. They are so convenient because you can clip them to your work and it makes it so easy to turn your work.

      Ok so I've been going crazy over this comment for months! I've reached watched this. Watched how I normally crochet and watched tutorials on yarn over and yarn under. So I think I've been doing it wrong for years. Ahhhhhhh! For some reason naturally I yarn under when pulling yarn back though. Not sure why but I'm working to fix 30 some years of bad habit. 😅

    • @catlady9123
      @catlady9123 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@micaelacrochet it slightly changes the look of the stitch but personally I prefer it the way you do it. I do a lot of amigurumi and it does make the stitch slightly tighter so the stuffing doesn't show through (which is wanted in amigurumi, even some do yarn under/yarn under vs yarn under/yarn over like you do). Honestly it's about comfort and preference.

    Your work is so very nice! I notice that when you pull your yarn through from the back to front your hook goes over the top of it, not like when I learned I grab and pull with my hook under the yarn. Is this how you always crochet, or is this way better to use with graphs? Thanks for this video - not sure how old it is but I will look for your next smaller graphghan tutorial…I need all the tips possible😊

    Hey, I found your video and it's looking great.
    I have my first graphghaan pattern and I was wondering, how do you manage the large gaps between colours from. Right to left etc. did you use two shekins of yarn, one for each side of the blanket??
    Say for the black outline?

    • @micaelacrochet

      Yes I actually now use bobbins but yes two separate bobbins, balls, skiens for each color change

      So I have not run into this because I either buy pre done graphs or have them made for me at the size I need. That being said I went to a Facebook group and asked. I wanted to find the answe for you. The response I got was....
      You could add more stitches per "block" to increase the size. So if you did 1 sc per square, you could do 3 sc per square or make it hdc or dc.
      Does that make sense for you? Also if you are not apart of Graphgahn Crochet for Beginners 101 on Facebook I'd join. They are a wealth of information. It is not my group.
