Honestly I prefer mania’s version, same reason why most of the US sonic CD ost doesn’t work. While they sometimes do fit, they’re too slow paced, you’re not supposed to feel a very deep sense of dread when dashing at high velocities.

Chemical plant zone 3 (the explosion) Lore: after sonic and tails defeated robotnik in chemical plant, some malfunction occurred in the plant, causing it to explode..... but sonic and tails don't have much time so They tried their best to get out of the chemical plant... which they successfully did.

Honestly, between both Generations-Modern and Mania-style Chemical Plant remasters, both are good enough that it's hard to pick just one.
generations is better in my opinion
Generations fits modern Sonic to the T, but I love mania act 2.

@@deserted4ever US CD soundtrack isn't funky enough and feels too atmospheric.
Mania's chemical plant just doesn't hit as hard as Modern or even the Original Sonic 2 version.
