As a student who is studying for illustration, this kinds of videos make more educational for me. 😊 Unless the very recent video is from 8 month ago, If you still running a channel, then please upload more speedpainting or art trutorals. 😢
You can try gradient map for that, u can easily change the colors and the value on gray become dark value on color, not like other its keep being dark gray. Marc brunet make some tutorials for that, really recommend to watch it. But coloring gray layer its also very good, that u can see on this amazing video. Great job Wayne, cant wait for next video keep doing ur amazing arts.
i have a question, if you dont mind ! i'm trying to learn how to paint , and i notice you're plotting one value at a time on her clothes/armor during the block-in stage , and those have mostly very hard edges due to the high opacity, and then when you switch to block-in more of the face, it suddenly gets softer and more gradient-like. did you change brushes while you were doing that ? or do you just control everything with pen-pressure ?
@@waynewu7357ah , i see ! one more question , if you dont mind ! i've tried to understand your grayscale to color process but some parts still elude me. when you're blocking in the colors , you're using an overlay layer above the shading ? its the only one i've managed to get the colors to show through enough while still keeping the render/values intact. and if so - at which point do you go back to normal layers to finish the piece ?
@@waynewu7357 Sorry for pestering you with more questions xD but i was studying your "Archangel" piece and looking at the "timelapse images" you posted on artstation, i'm having a bit of trouble to go from the grayscale part to the colored one. could you explain a bit how did you do that transition ? Thanks for the attention and sorry again for the amount of questions hahah - i really love the way you paint and i'm eager to learn from studying your work.
@@cake869 When coloring the Arc Angel, I used Multiply as my layer mode, and when coloring the Sirris, I used Color as my layer mode, and I will record timelapse to show these two different colorings in the future.
I so so so want to see a break down of your layers and process. So glad you have youtube channel. Hoping to see what those clipping masks do 😋
Yesss I can't believe I get to see work timelapses from you now! I'm so happy! This looks great btw. Looking forward to your videos.
Thanks so much!
Wonderful, so happy to see the timelapse. also if possible please record the full screen, it helps to see the layers mode you are using. thank you

Hello! I don't change brushes very often during the painting process, but I do resize my brushes. A larger brush makes the gradient softer.

I chose COLOR for the BLENDING OPTION of the LAYER when I was coloring it.@@cake869
