No lie, I used to have my guitar lessons in school right after this guy when I was around 12/13, I'd turn up early to watch him play for a little before my own classes. So cool to see you on here Jack, great content as usual
Dude - no way! That’s crazy! Which year where you in?! Hope you’re doing well man!
Jack Gardiner yeah man I don’t remember if it was 1 or 2 years below, something like that. And yeah, still making music, playing guitar ☺️ btw if you ever felt like doing any kind of lesson on blues music that’s be great!
lol i was refreshing to find this video, waiting for your stuff every friday. some of the best guitar content on youtube
Came here for the lesson, liked the video only because of the solo before the lesson even started. So much feel! ❤
Thank you jack ...world class player !
One of the best players i have seen lately. Playing with meaning and soul. Great tips dear Jack!!
Jack!
You're a great teacher!
Stay well!
Now I feel bent into shape! Another fantastic Friday freebie. Thanks Jack
Great feeling !! Thank you for the lesson!!
You're an excellent teacher, Jack! Love your videos and your playing of course.
Great video as always Jack. Some other possible ideas- vibrato (this often sets the pros apart from the amateurs), building speed- legato fragments, hand synchronization when alternate picking. Would love to get your take on all of the above. Cheers.
Hey Jack I just discovered you tonight and I am really impressed with your material. You have some of the best phrasing I have ever heard. I am definitely following you now and look forward to hearing more of your material.
Very good video! could you do one about vibrato control?
Please release a masterclass on bending
Great lesson !
Hey Jack, I'd love a lesson on rhythms, I feel it is such a neglected area. How do you venture beyond "regular" rhythms in lead playing into much more advanced stuff? (groups of 9, compound rhythms, 32nd note rests etc etc)
Thank you for the lesson! ♥️
Can you please give some info about dialing in this guitar tone?
That b9 into the 9th is stinking haha that's going straight in the back pocket! I've got all your instructional stuff, yours TQ's are the best I've come across and I've got everyone's. looking forward to the guitar summit if fate allows. Stay safe man and thanks for the content.
Thank you Jack, this is great!
Great video man (as usual!) on a technique that seems to get overlooked!
Using bends can really change the flavour of your phrases - helps to create your own style and definitely starts setting you apart from other players!
great playing and content as always, jack!
Scrumptious
thank you jack. i learned a lot things from you. mainly u helped in fixing my different aspects of playing.. and i want to continue to do so.
just a request theres a fast lick u played in 1:01 ..i see a lot of players doing so specially when finishing a phrase. i would really love to have a leson video on those licks.may be 4-5 just to get started and want to know opinion and approache about that particular section.
again thank you❤️❤️🇮🇳🇮🇳
thanks man🙏🙏🙏🙏...learning a lot from ur lessons
Another great lesson. Stay safe always jack! 🤘🏻
Great lesson! I would love a lesson on chromatic notes...
Killer!!!! Thanks for the Lesson Jack.
Mmmm tasty !
Will you also do a lesson about vibrato ? I see around a lot of skilled guitarists who are messing this up
Jack could you tell your delay settings for your tone? I love the delay on your tone. Lol
What strings do you use.. and how long does it usually last...
Hi Jack, what string gauge do you use? Thanks
great stuff!
I'm surprised to see that nobody mentioned how good that solo was
Hi Jack, great lesson. How r u recording your guitar audio? Is it straight from the camera microphone? Was curious how u record your voice and guitar at the same time. Thanks in advance. Cheers and stay safe.
Thanks bro! It’s just the camera mic at the minute for speaking and sometimes the guitar audio (like in this video). I do need to upgrade my voice audio! Sometimes I record guitar audio live, direct into logic and sync them afterwards - for example in the Neural DSP videos! Hope this answers the question man?
Jack Gardiner Thanks for taking ur time to reply mate. Yes that does answer my question. Greetings from San Francisco. I love your playing and always get inspired by your lessons. Let me know if you visit SF anytime, I’ll buy u a beer and ask you to come to my rehearsal space and jam with u 😂. Anyways, always looking forward to your new videos. Cheers!
Actually just discovered you through my Neural plugins and checked out Escipades and these great lessons. Great content. Lots to learn!
As someone who plays bass also I find the slap guitar technique you use occasionally fascinating. Do you play relatively heavy strings or have your action setup a certain way for that?
Ive been postponing buying a guitar with some form of trem for years now. Every time I am just about to go get one I 1 remember a lot of new guitar setup issue might come up that i dont want to add to my regular setup plus I see something like What you just played!
Than I go... Does the guitar needs to be even more potentially expressive than what it is hehe.
Interesting to see you play a lot with your thumb over the neck. So it's not uncomfortable with the endure neck?
I actually didn’t really think about that until you asked haha! Good question man. It really doesn’t bother me at all and in fact, it feels really natural!
Jack what pickups did you install in your strandberg. Also what are your thoughts on the guitar after having had it for a while now. I am considering buying one. Keep the videos coming :)
Hey man! These are the new Strandberg Prog pickups. I think I might have the only set in a guitar outside of the factory at the minute! They’re going to release and announce properly pretty soon though 😉 Since I’ve had these in, there’s not much else I would want different. Potentially a Roasted Maple Neck instead of this one. I just miss the brightness sometimes!
Thanks for the reply.
Are there any physical copies of the Escapades album? I am more of a touch and feel guy, I want a CD.
That is great suggestions, I am trying to improve myself. BTW: Jack, the strap is mounted the way around :P
The strap. Again. Savage.
Nice tone again 👍🏻
I'm planning to get a Strandberg, too. Never played one and am struggling to blindly trust in the comfortability of the neck. Is there something you'd change on that guitar (to your personal preference)?
Hahah... the strap is forever going to haunt you man! It is definitely different from a ‘normal’ neck, but it’s by no means uncomfortable or weird. If there’s no chance to try one first, I still think you’ll be pleasantly surprised by it. The one thing which I would like to try though, is a roasted maple neck on this thing! I do like the darker sounds from this one, but sometimes I miss the brightness of maple. Other than that, it’s pretty much everything I need/want.
I always get my fingers stuck on the string on top of the one i’m bending! I don’t know how you guys get so clean bends, when I do it I get the note I’m playing and also a bunch of extra string noise from the string above :/
I think it’s important to look at how your right hand is muting. Try to always have two ‘muting points’ at all times! I might do a lesson on this during this series!
I just clicked the bell. Never remember to do it.
I feel like excessive bending will cut my strings, the first three. I'm always scared of it.
Don’t worry too much man! If you’re guitar is set up properly, you’d have to pull extremely hard to break them. Strings are super tough! 😉
Not a good idea during quarantine period...haha
Hahahah! Actually - I did have a small panic last week! I must thank D’Addario for coming to the rescue! 😅
This was kinda Guthrie Govan bends and tricks
All the time I wasted playing fast lines, I wish I spent on bending and vibrato. 100% it separates good from great players. Easiest way to detect an amateur
Please mic up Jack!
It’s on the list of things to upgrade 😉
@@JackGardiner Excllent! th-cam.com/video/zm6WCGIQ7ak/w-d-xo.html This may interest you if you use a mobile phone, or want to use a phone, to do the whole job (guitar plus voice). It has two channels and one can be for guitar while the other input takes any type of mic, including a lapel mic. The only hitch is that you have to wear phones to monitor your playing because the guitar goes direct through the device preamp into the phone. Good luck, Jack! So many options out there!
His bending is very Guthrie
