We call that Hawaiian Mac salad.
Where I live there are a few Hawaiian places that make it this way.
It is soooooo good!
I grew up on Miracle Whip but moved to IL and my husband is a Hellmann's guy. And I still say "Cook out". Great recipes. Thank you
Your mom's salad reminds me of my mom's tuna noodle stuff (she said that she didn't know what to call it). We use dill pickles instead of celery. I add different seasonings depending on what I'm feeling at the time. Sometimes, I add pickled jalapeños.
In the south a BBQ has slow cooked meat with a BBQ sauce. A cookout is hot dogs ,hamburgers etc
Minty Cantaloupe and Cherry-Plum Fruit Salad:
I tried this recipe! So good! If you can't find fresh mint, peppermint extract will work in a pinch!
These look amazing. I need to quit buying the store macaronis and try some of these recipes this summer🎉
In Texas it’s referred to as a barbecue, mainly because when meat is cooked outside it is barbecue!
I live in the east we call it a cookout
I can’t wait to try the Fruit Salad Citrus Syrup Glaze on my fruit salads. I am a Miracle Whip girl. I cannot stand real Mayo because I grew up on Miracle Whip. The pasta salad with the tuna in it is almost exactly like one I made. The Jalapeño Popper Corn Salad is wonderful. My family loved it!! Thanks all the recipe inspiration. I appreciate it.
All of these salads are so great! Won't lie I and my DIL are the only family members who would LOVE your tuna fish pasta salad. I might just have to make it, split it in half so she and I can eat on it for a few meals!😂 The orange syrup fruit salad...oh my gosh! Yummy! Thank you so much for sharing!❤🍓🍊
It would only be me at my house!
@@maryannmiller135 Same, my husband and youngest son do not like tuna!
I just love summer salads
I'm so glad. I'm working on another summer salad video. Stay tuned.
That corn salad looks AMAZING!!!
It is! You can't stop munching on it.
@@shesinherapronrecipe?
Thanks gonna try these. ❤❤
These all look amazing!
Thanks for sharing!! I just made Hawaiian Mac salad for dinner tonight. It is so good! I definitely grated the carrots smaller. Have a very blessed and awesome weekend!
Hi sweetie, I would recommend thar you use the fine grater for your carrots. Then they get juicy and small enough without getting too crunchy. The lemon zester would work as well 🥕🥕 Good luck from Norway 💚
Thanks for the tip!
I'll be saving this video and trying everything! Especially the fruit salad and the corn dip, so good!
Thanks for those salad ideas they look delish!
I just bought the miracle whip yesterday because I wanted to try your Ma’s macaroni salad and lo and behold it’s in this video lol - definitely going to try that corn jalapeño popper dip too! Love your cooking videos, always great recipes 😋
Being from California we call it BBQ. Were my hubby is from Ohio they call it Cookout. This is where we currently reside. It's crazy how different California and Ohio verbage is 😂
I do like to add some frozen green peas to my macaroni salad.
I do a similar dressing but use manukau honey in place of the sugar. Summer favorite!
I will have to try that fruit syrup next time! I always use a couple teaspoonfuls of either vanilla pudding mix or the cheesecake pudding mix which is my families favorite! It makes that glaze with the fruit juices however, i love the bright taste of oranges in any fruit dish! Yum!
Hey Kimmy! These all look amazing. Thanks for sharing them 😊. Enjoy the weekend. ☺️🕊️
Thank you! You too!
I'm from RI and we said cookout. I moved to CT (and you know RI is small, so not far at all) and they all call it a bbq here. So funny
I lived in Connecticut my entire life and we always said Cookout
Happy fourth ❤❤❤❤❤
Where can I find ur Shrimp dip recepi? I loved it but didn't write it down.
I'm semi new. Been watching u since April 2024. But I love ur channel. Who says u can't teach an old dog new tricks. I just turned 83 a couple of days ago. And I've already learned quite a bit from u.
Thanks for the good wk.❤
It’s on the website
Same here .Being from Texas it's BBQ.
The sweet pasta salad you made is awesome with chopped pineapple tidbits mixed in ♥️🇨🇦🙏🏻
Sounds great!
great video Kimmy as always the dishes look amazing. xxx
Yummy ❤️
Here in Colorado we call it "Grillin." It's the Wild Wild West! Pop them Poppers on the Grill and let's get to Grillin. Call it whatever you want, just don't call me late for Supper! Have you ever tried fine chopped Coleslaw mixed with you elbow noodles? So yummy. And fine chopped pickled jalapenos in your baked beans? So many ways to change things up! I just love it!
I make a macaroni and tuna salad that is nearly identical to yours and it is definitely a winner ! Mine doesn’t have the Bagel seasoning, but I will try it that way. Great salad recipes 😊
Sounds great!
Yummy video Kim. You have given me some great ideas.
Hope you enjoy
The Hawaiian Mac Salad and the corn salad are on my list for this weekend. Hope your 4th of July is fantastic! God Bless and thank you for the recipes.❤
Thank you! You too!
Great video ❤
Love your videos❤
Thank you!
Yummy❤❤❤❤
The corn salad looks great but the recipe isn’t posted😊Love your videos!!! I always learn a new recipe or two to try each time you post a video.😊👍
Please need recipe ❤❤❤
It's now in the description box.
❤❤We say grilling.
They all look yummy. Come on 4th of July!!
These look lovely.
When I was in Utah I loved their jelly/jello salads. I found it really strange at first to eat something sweet with a main meal but got used to it in the end.
Please could someone explain exactly what Miracle Whip is? We don’t have this in the UK & I’ve often wondered what it tastes like.
My family likes it when I make potato salad. I got it from watching Ina Garten on Food Network. It's simple, but delicious. Last time I made it for a group (firefighters), I ended up not getting any. 😂 Today is my daughter's 24th birthday. FYI ~~ Michael's has some Halloween out.
Kimmy, where did you find that cute yellow bowl for the salad with cherries? Can’t wait to try the fruit salad with syrup! Thank you!
Walmart
Kimmy!!! You're from Auburn, we had cookouts!! 😂❤
Love the recipes, will definitely be trying them, minus the green peppers, I can't eat them
We say cookout in wv
South africa it is braai
Loved the different salads, always confused when people call their mac salad Hawaiian. I've never had an actual max salad in Hawaii that loose, or with that vinegar/sugar mixture. That is closer to a coleslaw dressing in Hawaii than mac salad, but that being said potato mac salad, or mac salad with spaghetti noodles are popular here. I love when there is leftover ahi flaked into the salad. Also mac salad in Hawaii is so creamy and thick that you use an ice-cream scoop to serve and it stays in that shape. You will also find most people in Hawaii will swear that you have to use Bestfoods mayo - nothing else.
Im first! Woo hoo. These all look fab. Thank you. ❤
Yay! Thank you!
A box grater would be better for the carrots. They would be much shorter.😊
Cookout all day. Barbecue is sauce covered meat of some sort😀
What is miracle whip? Is it similar to mayonaise? What is the difference between mayonaise and miracle whip? We don't have that here in the Netherlands 🇳🇱
Miracle whip has a sweet taste to it. That’s really the only difference.
@@jeanne9375 thank you, i didn't know that. Here in The Netherlands we only have mayonaise and some other mayonaise flavors. I have never tried miracle whip when i visit the US. Maybe i could order it on Amazon to try.
what is miracle whip?, i cannot seem to find it anywhere in england? xx
Its a sweeter, tangy mayo
Could add a touch of vinegar and a bit of sugar to regular mayo
🥰🥰
Add pineapple to the macaroni salad (chunked) .
Cookout
Americas test kitchen makes a wonderful Hawaiian macaroni salad. You need to check it out. Recipe is on TH-cam.
We call it a cookout or we're grillin out in Georgia
I agree, in GA it’s just we’re grillin’. Hot dogs, brisket, whatever…
A BBQ is when you are actually cooking pork and using bbq sauce! A cookout is when you are grilling anything else!
Oh good grief Karen🙄
@@tinahall2512 excuse me???? She asked us what we called things. I was answering her. So did everyone else. Get a life.
Vanilla should be added off the heat or else it evaporate and lose it's strength.
People who don't like macaroni salad can't be trusted. Lol. 😅
😂
Actually you don't get to tell me what salads I need at a barbecue. You know nothing about me. The things that I need are far and above a salad recipe.
Wow! Rude! Don’t like her ideas..don’t watch. No one is forcing you!
Ok snowflake. It will be ok.😂😂😂
What is wrong with you? Who is forcing you to watch or eat anything you don’t like.
Ok snowflake. It will be ok. 😂
Then why did you click on a video that CLEARLY STATES salad recipes? Do you know how to read?
Spices; must have salt and pepper
Lea & Perrins The Original Worcestershire Sauce Bottle or a cheap imitation.
When looking at spices to buy unless you use a lot of a spices buy the smallest amount you can weather in bulk or small containers. Since a lot of my spices were old I just bought a bunch of new spices at Family Dollar because they were the cheapest here; most were $0.99cents each.
I like to use a salt & pepper grinders and garlic salt or garlic powder and onion powder or onion salt are must haves. Use this easy formula as a fresh-to-dried herb converter: 1 teaspoon of dried herbs for every 1 tablespoon of fresh herbs. In other words, use three times as much fresh herbs when the recipe calls for dried and 1/3 of the amount of dried herbs when the recipe calls for fresh. I tried to buy spices I could use to make things like Italian herb & spices.
