Sandi, I'm absolutely floored by your tenacity and passion as an artist. Mark making even when you felt ill! These videos are simply inspiring and a pleasure to watch. Good friends add the best texture to life. Thanks Sandi and Grady.
I had tears of joy for you. How wonderful it must feel to meet your tribe over there! I love all those ladies and follow them on their respective channels and patreon. Thanks for sharing your trip with us. The paintings are so beautiful
That was 25minutes of pure joy and happiness …… I have followed and admired you Sandi for a very long time and loved your surroundings where you live and where you paint and your home… and now I have experienced your visit to my surrounding where I live and where I paint…. it was like I was right there with you! Hearing you talk about all the things that I love too was just magical❤. Even the cream tea and clotted cream made me smile… Thank you so much for sharing your visit. Xxxx 🥰💝
I loved your England trip videos, thanks for sharing. I'm so glad you enjoyed your time here. How amazing to meet all your art friends, they're all artists I admire too (along with yourself of course). Just so inspiring, your joy is infectious.
My goodness. This was just incredible. I'm so glad you took videos and shared your adventures with us. So much beauty, talent, and kindness in one video. It's videos like these that fill my heart up so much. This is what it's all about. 💚
I get it about the inspiration. I loose a lot of sleep thinking about the next project. It's good to have Art to keep us interested in our surroundings and our lives. I guess I may be having done a lot of art work that will be here after I am gone. We just get to enjoy now!
So beautiful to seeing two worlds come together in friendship and in art. Equally wonderful that you took the time to share your adventures through rain and pressures of time. Thank Grady too, please. He looked like he was having a wonderful time (even if he did drive you through one of the most beautiful areas in England without stopping. Means he must take you back! 😂) You both are such good adventurers!
He’s so supportive but he also does a lot of hiking and walking while I’m painting and he enjoys it. I mean what was up with leaving the beautiful area 🤨😆🤔
Boy this was great - inspiring and just so lovely to see you all enjoying each other’s company. It really made me laugh when you said the seagull was posing for you - as someone who moved from London to live in northern England in the City by the Sea (or Seagull City) as it is dubbed by the locals (officially know as Sunderland) I can tell you that any seagull that is appearing to pose is actually inching its way towards your supplies as they know backpacks usually contain tasty snacks and these birds are super wise to that. In fact here in Sunderland they get on the table or your plate if you are eating outside in town, giving real meaning to the phrase ‘in your face’. So if ever you fancy a gull fest sketching vacation please consider coming to this end of the country.
You know how some people’s vacation videos feels braggy?... This doesn’t! It screams inspiration. I think you must only be sleeping three hours a night. I know i can’t sleep when I get this buzzed about art. I love everyone’s art, including your own, and these are artists I too follow. I’m so glad for you that you got to meet them! My best friend is a woman I met at an art retreat I held for some friends all across the US that were all from an online art group. I live in NC, and my special friend lives in FL. We are still best friends about seven years later and meet one to three times a week to chat and art together on Face Time. Now…if she and I were dropped in England together with all those beautiful scenes to sketch, and chat, and eat together….it would be a lifetime event for me. So i get it. I’m so pleased for you that you got to go to England and meet them in person. These will be treasured memories forever!!! (And for me, the inspiration from this video is off the charts!) Catch up on some sleep now Sandi! LOL. Thank you for sharing!!
Thank you for sharing such a wonderful trip with your audience. It was so nice seeing all you beautiful artists together. Grady is so obviously supportive of your artwork and career which is such a blessing.
I loved watching this so much! How amazing to meet all your arty friends in person and to spend time sketching with them!💖 It's so cute that you called the city of Exeter a village.🥰 I think our cities must seem tiny (apart from London of course!) I'm so happy you had a great time, the paintings you made are beautiful.
I was just thinking how well you looked when you said you felt so ill. When we travel the change of food and water and routine often hits the stomach. So glad you loved England….. you gotta come back. Loved, loved the sketches.
Absolutely loved these painting in England videos, Sandi🥰 I spent my teenage years in Exeter so the scenes were quite nostalgic for me. The Quay was a scruffy, dreary place back in the 1960's. My heart skipped a beat when you showed your painting of the Double Locks. We lived in old orchard workers houses(long gone) on the canal banks not far from the Double Locks. The pub became my dad's local and we had many fun times there. I've lived in NZ since 1970 but have been fortunate enough to have quite a few trips back to England.
So wonderful Sandi to see so much arty goodness - not only in your art making, but your art relationships/friendships and of course the videography by Grady. You are such an inspiration to me as an artist and how your joyful exuberance that you share through each and every video. I love the lessons you teach about embracing uncontrollable situations with weather, travel and sickness and manage to take in stride and make the best of those situations. The lovely gifts from your friends too show how much you appreciate their friendship but how deeply you admire them as artists too. Until next time, thank you for bringing so much joy to me.
Haha, I'm the same in grocery stores when I'm abroad, love seeing how different they are in every country! So glad you enjoyed your trip to England, hope you can come back one day for a longer one (and that you get better weather next time!)
Love the video . Thank you for sharing . The bathroom ,I just loved - green and pink trimmed door ! The grocery store was great too and of course the beautiful artwork and scenery. Thank you for all of your thoughtful inspiration.❤
Love your sweet happy approach. I just took up watercolour ( my first time other than photography) .I’m learning to sketch…mixing colours is something still to learn. I’m 72
You inspire me and broadened my horizons but now seeing your friends work as a bous AaAAaah! So Good! Thank you for sharing. I loved seeing you connect with your friends and the works you made, so much fun. Hopefully you felt better by the time you got back home, ready to get all that good stuff out!
I love this video, Sandi! And I love part one as well! You've left me so inspired to get outside and paint! Also, I just completed your landscape class and I adored it. I love seeing how you use different materials. I learned a lot about letting my eyes adjust, I feel like I didn't do that well before taking your class. Now I give myself time to just sit and look around, let myself take in the details gradually. Your classes have been very accessible for me because your teaching style is both casual and comprehensive. I have ADHD and I find your classes (and online content) very easy to follow. They are structured in a way that just jives with how my brain works. Thank you again for your videos and classes! I'm looking forward to any more classes you launch in the future!
Lisa I’m so glad to hear this! Thank you for taking my classes 😭❤️!!! I’ve had some people say I may have ADHD so maybe that’s why you can follow them 😂🤷♀️. Either way, I’m glad you enjoy them! I STILL have to remind myself to stop and just LOOK at time because I usually just want to jump in!
I started the painting birds class and love it! So glad I decided to jump in and just do it. Thanks so much for all of the inspiration and being such a positive person.
Loved your trip to England videos, I was surprised that so many of your friends are the same artists that I enjoy watching on youtube. Thanks always for sharing everything about your artist journey and also the yummy gifts you brought home, hope some of those gifts are available on their websites!
Thank you so much for sharing your beautiful trip to England, your art, as well the art of your wonderful friends! Loved being there with you even for the length of this video!1

What an absolute treat!! Loved this so much! I'm so happy you guys had such an amazing trip. Sorry you were unwell for a bit though, but even that couldn't stop you from going sketching! Hugs for you and Grady! Oh and I loved the gifts you received from your friends🤗💖😊 I really want some clotted cream now 😉xxx
Thank you for sharing your trip - I loved watching these videos. :) It was so lovely to see you meeting Mel Chadwick too - I met her at her exhibition and saw her work in person - beautiful. Btw, yes, we do call them seagulls in England. Loved your colourful, vibrant paintings. :)
I enjoyed your tip so very much. You made me smile about the scones and clotted cream. First time I had it was in Clovelly by the sea in a little tea shop. Oh my goodness that was sooooo good. It had resh strawberries too. YUMMY. There is so much inspirational views to paint in the U.K. you really need to go to the Scottish highlands. You will never get over it. Thanks for sharing. May have to run over to Mel’s channel and pick up the Zine and Calendar. ❤
That was so much fun🎉 I can see how excited you were to meet them as they were to meet the infamous SANDI HESTER ❤ Thank you for taking us on your journey across the pond. Xo
I know what you mean about grocery stores, I visited Nashville a few years ago and Walmart was amazing but Piggly Wiggly was a bucket list ticked, I even got the T shirt and a hoodie! ❤
I love watching your travels and so cool you got to not only meet your friends but you got to sketch with most of them!! I have a question and maybe you could answer/show it in a future video. (If you haven't done it in the past) How do you pack for painting and creating when you are traveling by air?? what is allowed? Do you put it all in a checked bag? I know you said you painted on the plane> How and what did you pack? I’m going to Key West in a couple of months and want to take stuff to create. Thanks! Have a great weekend!!
I loved that! It was so inspiring to see a familiar landscape through your eyes, and to see how you interpreted it in art. Thank you for introducing your artist friends - I've already enjoyed one of Melanie Chadwick's videos. I had to laugh about the supermarket trip - I'm exactly the same. 😄If you enjoy visiting National Parks we have many more in Britain, including the gorgeous Pembrokeshire Coast National Park, in Pembrokeshire, Wales (where I live) that I think you'd love.
I totally get it with the grocery stores!! I grew up in Florida so I miss Publix, which I know y'all have in TN! But in Texas we have HEB which is pretty awesome 😉
I subscribed to Melanie Chadwick and ordered her zine after your last video. Patiently waiting for your book though! Love the paintings of the buildings and sad but happy for you that they are all sold.
I’m so interested in how you deal with health issues while traveling sandi. I was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and I have always really dreamed of traveling one day and painting (to other countries too) but tbh I’ve dealt with fear. Fear of insulin freezing or whatever lol I would love to hear how you deal with those things honestly. I’m so very inspired!!
We bought a special little cooler for insulin - we’ve had two different ones and they’ve always worked great. I usually get stressed with traveling but this trip was crazy easy
Thanks for sharing your travels, your paintings, your inspirations, and your life with us. Yes, Dartmoor is a special place. How did you guys decide on going to and staying in Exeter?
How wonderful to meet each other and be able to paint with each other! Sandi, you have probably done a video about your art journey, but did you go to school to learn about composition, value, abstraction, and all the elements that go with painting? I have a lot of books to learn, but can you recommend any for newbies? How wonderful to be in the UK at this time of year! XX Trudy
I do actually have a video about my art journey - it’s an older video but you should be able to find it and I also have a video on artists that inspire me
Loved this video, so fun to watch! I pressed the like button, or so I thought I did, but I think I hit the other by mistake. So sorry about thatI I loved your videos from England and I love your channel.
What a fun and inspirational - 2 part video! I loved watching over and over. You are blessed for sure🥰 I am trying to purchase the book from Emily and ran into some technicalities...so I reached out to Emily's IG account. Loved it all soooo much! I would like to know how you managed to bring 1 carry on with all the art supplies :)

Thanks for sharing your travels, your paintings, your inspirations, and your life with us. Yes, Dartmoor is a special place. How did you guys decide on going to and staying in Exeter?
We have friends there
@@sandihester how lucky!
I wish I knew you were in England. I would have loved to see you
How wonderful to meet each other and be able to paint with each other! Sandi, you have probably done a video about your art journey, but did you go to school to learn about composition, value, abstraction, and all the elements that go with painting? I have a lot of books to learn, but can you recommend any for newbies? How wonderful to be in the UK at this time of year! XX Trudy
I do actually have a video about my art journey - it’s an older video but you should be able to find it and I also have a video on artists that inspire me
Very inspiring Sandi.

You are blessed for sure🥰 I am trying to purchase the book from Emily and ran into some technicalities...so I reached out to Emily's IG account. Loved it all soooo much! I would like to know how you managed to bring 1 carry on with all the art supplies :)
I packed most of my art in my checked bag and just carried on some watercolors and color pencils
