In retrospect, I think they could have gone a lot further if they could have let their songs breathe more. They never stopped to rest after they start in- it’s just a breakneck marathon of notes and beats. Also, Henry doesn’t have much range. I mean, he has emotions in spades, and it def shapes the bands sound in an exciting direction early on, but he can’t actually sing. Just like Greg can’t settle down and let the rest of the band take the lead much. Greg is great, but when I hear Kira’s intro to My War, I think Kira’s talent was way underutilized. As for drumming, anyone who can keep up is a talent. I always appreciated how Black Flags drums sounded so heavy to Dead Kennedy’s, whose drumming was quick but thin.

"A song about heroin..."? Where do you get that idea? I always thought of it more as a song about paranoia & jealousy, since, no one in Black Flag did heroin. Hell, Henry was practically SXE.

To many, every song ever written is about drugs, especially heroin. Brown Sugar, She Talks to Angels, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Tequila, etc. Often seems a bit of a stretch.
Nope. It's about American slave owners and their sexual appetite for dark meat. Many say that the Black Crowes tune really is about a dope addict chick. Makes sense, I guess. I think most song writers often just scribble down any idea they think sounds cool and instantly add whatever riffs/lyrics that go well with it while in that moment. The song's intended meaning, if any, is best determined later by the listener's personal relationship to the song, which varries greatly. But it often seems that many rock fans say any song was written with drugs in mind. This one sure wasn't.
Straight black coffee off the french press, sitting in a chair staring at a blank wall. Real talk, I wonder what benefit this has for meditation. Trying this tonight.
"Enjoy your hot bean water I add cream coz I love myself." I used to drink black coffee until I heard someone say that and I haven't turned back, haha. To be honest, it's just not that good. Unless you're really hung over and there's literally nothing else to help you get over your hang over, I could see how a fondness would develop.

This is the song I listen to when playing MTG: Arena in the breakroom at my job.
just a kid in high school when this was un leashed. I like it.
"A song about heroin..."? Where do you get that idea? I always thought of it more as a song about paranoia & jealousy, since, no one in Black Flag did heroin. Hell, Henry was practically SXE.
It’s not about coffee?
Yeahhh, the best thing for an energetic breakfast: black coffee + brown sugar !!!
Yo gotta give props to Kira on bass! A girl rockin the bass for Flag? She crushed it! Show me another girl in a punk band that toured as hard as black flag and had crowds like they had! Fuck the Go Go’s! Kira crushed punk rock and no one even knows or talks about it. Lol
And then she won an Oscar.
good mourning ;)
I love how listening to this quality feels like listening to a bootleg
Who are you with, where have you been
Imagination turns thoughts, reason can't change
Staring at the walls, think I know what I see
Anger and coffee, feeling mean
Drinking black coffee, black coffee, drinking black coffee, staring at the wall
Black coffee, black coffee, black coffee, staring at the wall
Black coffee, drinking black coffee, drinking black coffee, staring at the...
Stab through my heart, stab through my heart, stab through my heart
But its all in my mind, mind, mind, mind
Just in my mind, mind, mind, mind
Its just in my mind, yeaaaaaaaaa
My heart is pounding, as stare at the wall
Its my turn to be jealous, now I don't stand for it all
In fact I'm pretty stupid, I'm feeling small
Anger and coffee, feeling mean
Drinking black coffee, black…
For all the people arguing what the song is about let the damn song speak for itself to each individual , let it be interpreted you're own way.
To many, every song ever written is about drugs, especially heroin. Brown Sugar, She Talks to Angels, Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer, Tequila, etc. Often seems a bit of a stretch.
I'm pretty sure Brown Sugar was about heroin. But the rest, no :P
I always thought Brown Sugar was about anal.
Dude Henry Rollins was semi straight edge. If you read his books you'll know how he feels about heroin addicts and potheads.
Nope, Brown Sugar is about five British posers who think they're hip to american black culture.
Straight black coffee off the french press, sitting in a chair staring at a blank wall. Real talk, I wonder what benefit this has for meditation. Trying this tonight.
I like my women like I like my coffee, incapable of loving me back.
you're my hero
Whenever I have black coffee I think of two things, Black Flag, and MSI.
Greg tearing it up.' ' WAW--waw-waw weer-weer-weer..."
Dont have to be on smack to lose yer mind... Coffee.. And sleepless nights is hardcore on its own!

i like my coffee like my soul. black
^^^ Some people just don't get it..... ^^^
guitar solo.
Amazing guitar work!!!!
It's called punk rock, all you got to do is play in key, express yourself, and just fuck it, fuck it fuck you i dont give a shit really
Ginn was a lot more than "not give a fuck". He actually used a lot of advanced jazz chord progressions.
@@tash5540 that guitar solo is not in key though.
I listen to this song on Wednesdays and Fridays when I’m fasting and can’t put dairy in my coffee! 😀
This is the black coffee I want every morning.
