I made an expensive mistake, I put my faith in these diagnostic flow charts. 2012 freightliner cascades After treatment control module offline Def fluid gauge showing empty
Really appreciate seeing a Diesel Mechanic working on Class 8 stuff from the diagnostic perspective. There are plenty of automotive diag guys but not a lot of class 8 truck diag guys. Good Stuff. 👍
I love these "seek and destroy" (fault) missions. I think you did a great job; taking the honourable path by solving the issue on your own dime. Keep 'em coming. Great video!
Sometimes you have to update acm software, update cpc4 software, if the truck have been deleted it say acm not communicating, because the acm have been enabled
@@diagnosticnorth Yes that’s what I had thought initially, Great video thanks for sharing . I have software but no access to troubleshoot side of it, Is there a website you kno that has troubleshooting? I tend to work without it but in this case I could of used some help with the diagrams and stuff . Luckily I ran into your videos
These videos are aweosme question for you what do you use for wiring diagrams for the chassis side of things I work on lots or Cummins stuff but some times it would be nice to have schematics for the trucks
Sooo i just replaced cpc4 on 2019 freightliner cascadia due to no crank no start. Still got no start for about 15 to 20 mins. Truck fired right up. Im wondering if the truck needed time to read the new cpc? Im up and running now but open to all the knowledge i can come across
Interesting.. the last cpc4 I changed worked as soon as I plugged it in. This was on a 18 western star. It had throttle issues but always started. So it would be hard to compare. But normally no it shouldn't take any amount of time to read. All can bus signals should be instant. Did you have the cpc4 programmed before install? Was it new or used?
@diagnosticnorth yes brand new and programmed by freightliner. I didn't think it needed any time, just double checking. Just makes me nervous at the thought of anything else being the problem especially since these modules cost so much.. thanks anyway man!
@diagnosticnorth I'm doomed again! But I'm starting to think it's not cpc4. Have the exact same problem after only 4 days of function. The "check" light came on. Then once I shut the truck off, no crank no start🤦♂️😫
@@jaydawg7200 if we were anywhere near each other I would recommend having me come check out your truck! It sounds like you need some diag done. The problem you describe sounds like a can bus issues. Start by checking for 60 ohm resistance between can hi and can low ( with ignition off).
Sometimes the modules need to see so many drive cycles before it allows it to clear. Also depending on how long this code was active for and how much the engine ran without the aftertreatment module online, it may need a regen.
Good video ! I ran into similar problem !! it end up being like a 12-16 wire connector located on drivers side frame rail so if your looking at drivers steps middle . the connector was not on right but it got so corroded i bypassed connector - pain because it was dirty dirty dirty ! fuck those charts experience is the true teacher of all things !!!

Much appreciated 👍
I literally just did this today. Minus the past through our horse.

Thanks for the tips 👍 do you mean bcz the ACM has been disabled lol?
If the truck has been deleted will you still get these codes?
You replaced the harness going to the power distribution box?
Yes, I replaced a length of wire that starts at the power distribution box and goes to the acm behind the drivers side step.

I can help you, reach out to me through my bio links . There is also a link to my website there.
Did you only have 625 or was 1232 fmi 9 also in display?
I don't recall exactly what other codes it had but there were some others
I repaired the power issue and the truck runs but engine light stays on.. The same code is stored permanently in history. Any suggestions?

Are you talking about the oem connector ? I had followed the wires as best I can visually and did not see a connector.
those charts remind me of those old school books choose your own adventure !! 😅
Lmao😂 dude that is soo true
