High School Classroom Setup | 2022

In this vlog I go back to my high school classroom for the 2022-2023 school year. This is my first September as a high school teacher. I piece together bookshelves, think aloud about how I want to manage my classroom library, share my class decor, and more. I hope it inspires something new or validates an idea you have in your own classroom.
My name is Alexa Borota and I teach High School English. I also taught Middle School English Language Arts for eight years. I enjoy reflecting on the craft of teaching while providing tips and suggestions along the way. We can all use a little encouragement and humor!

Thank you for appreciating your gorgeous room! My room is old, and basically falling apart, and formerly occupied by a hoarder. It’s a lot but I’m excited to see what I can do! And yes - every teacher needs a toolbox!!

I’ve taught in many classrooms. Most of my experience is in classrooms I’ve had to go above and beyond to hide its imperfections and make it warm and productive. My best tip for you is using your school’s bullletin board paper to cover anything broken or torn. I also spray painted things at home or went in over the summer to spray paint. It changed the whole vibe of my many dated classrooms. Good luck!!
