I feel like since grandee is still very healthy and still very capable of having his own troop, there are many small troops in different areas around the monkey Hill, so who's to say the mentality that grandee has right now is that he may be scouting out his own troop just trying to find which one he is more accepted into or to be close to without the current alpha of that particular troop he may be checking out. Like he may be traveling from place to place testing his boundaries, and he always comes back to that area where he has a temporary home until he does find a troop.
I was not worried about him I just wondered where he had disappeared to he's always had a good sense to him and it doesn't look like he's doing to shabby !🙉

All ridge's kids loved grandee especially his daughters. They loved each other so much love but I am glad to see that ridgie is starting to look so much better. Was so worried that she had given up on life but the love of her family has brought her back. Her family and Reddy's family are the most loving in the troop.
I wish the feeders would not given them food with paper atach to it. It would only take a minute to give them food without it and keeping the place clean with no scrap around.

Feeding him bread and sugar? When many monkeys are gluten intolerant? Did they kick Grandee out as he was old? Or did he just find a place to get abundant food and got lazy?
Grandee was kicked out of his troop by the Bossy, the matriarch. It is unknown as to why he was kicked out. The notion that he is too old doesn't fit because Skull Head was old and he was never kicked out.

Moreover, the Skull head troop had ~500 members when he was alpha. This is the largest rhesus macaque troop ever record in history. Furthermore, when Skull Head was a senior all macaques still feared him and demonstrated the fear grimace. He was no typical male macaque. So, using Skull Head as a baseline is not a good idea. One would call him an outlier or one big scary dude. Grandee was a weak alpha. Males and females allogroom and form social alliances in hopes that in a fight their social alliances and family members will help defend them. Grandee definitely made the wrong alliances. His favoritism for Ridgy and her family over Bossy and her family was a fatal mistake. The day he did this, his days were numbered. Bossy didn't just out him, the troop did. So why he was outed is pretty clear cut, but your right, one can only hypothesize. If you watch closely, alpha males will protect the matriarch and typically the high borns. Why Grandee didn't protect Bossy and her clan is the real question. We will never know. I see Grandee as a lover not a fighter. He sure did favor Ridgy before and after he was made alpha. They made some beautiful babies that are thankfully thriving.

Ooo...I'm not sure that's the best area for any human food consumption. There's poo just about everywhere do to the main attraction tracking on everything. It's not something to think of as rude or mean. No too mention Hepatitis B approaches levels up to 80% with our monkey friends there. This is the kind of thing that will stay dormant, and by the time it shows up, One has no idea how they ever contracted it. Or worse, blame something wrong.
I could be wrong but I think the feeder was singling Grandee out so he would stay longer for you to film. Just my opinion. Also, if the feeder had spread all that bread out instead of dumping it in one pile the monkeys and the piglets and their mom could eat it. I have never understood why the feeders just pile the bread and goodies up in one pile instead of spreading it around for everyone to get a chance to eat.

There is no way that every offence can be caught but since this old man is a registered feeder ( one of the 3 still alive, and he is the only one still does so a few times a week ) his details are on the book and he can be identified easily and get fined if someone complains. In fact he had been fined before. Regular feeders are those not registered but who sympathies with the monkeys as they think it is detrimental to go cold turkey on the feeding as this has been going on for more than half a century. Some of them will leave a mess, some don't, I applaud the latter but feel powerless with the former.

If not, they can find their way into human populated areas and cause issues. If this happens the government would then start killing them. I would hate for that to happen. Regular feeders are those not registered but who sympathies with the monkeys as they think it is detrimental to go cold turkey on the feeding as this has been going on for more than half a century. Some of them will leave a mess, some don't, I applaud the latter but feel powerless with the former.
@@thestorysofar That is sad they would fine this man when he is a registered feeder. But I agree, now that the feeding has been going on for so long it is important for it to continue. If not, they can find their way into human populated areas and cause issues. If this happens the government would then start killing them. I would hate for that to happen. I would assume macaque males can mate till the day they die just like human males. We are all primates.
