In the end, Dylan was always a womanizer, and 'bad boy' who loved his independence, he didn't truly belong to anyone, at least in his youth. Both Brenda and Dylan were way too young for a serious, dramatic relationship like theirs, and Jim made this point from the get-go: that Brenda has the whole life ahead of her, and giving her all energy to Dylan and to the relationship with him, which Brenda did- was pointless and was going to be painful in her future, and this is what happened. Jim always wanted to protect Brenda, period. Maybe he was too aggressive about it sometimes, but that's what fathers do, it's that simple. She was a teenager, a young adult but still way too young and immature to be this serious about romance. The reason why Brandon maybe got a little more freedom here was that Brandon was way more responsible out of the siblings, at least for the first 4 seasons of the show, and Brandon also wasn't as dramatic in his romantic relationships as Brenda was, thus he didn't create so many problems. Bcs that's what Dylan was missing... The connection. The closeness. Not sex. That's what a womaniser would seek... And do. And he didn't
Right or not, young love is the most passionate and fun. Yes, there are bumps in it, but that is what it's about. Learning. Jim was a pain in the butt, if he was my dad we wouldn't be talking if he tried to come between me and whoever I loved. Thankfully, my dad liked and trusted my HS boyfriend and he was Dylan-ish. We had a lot of freedom and I am grateful to my dad for that. I didn't wind up knocked up as there ARE ways to prevent that. BUT that was NOT for Jim to decide it was for BRENDA to decide! Just like it was for me to decide. Young women do NOT belong to their fathers!! They belong to themselves. It's ok for parents to give unwanted and unsolicted advice, however Jim went WAY TOO FAR! He would have never done that to Brandon because he was a guy. Simple as that! You can't keep a young woman away from who they love. They WILL find a way! I think her leaving him for the summer, even though he encouraged her to do so, was what really made him feel like he was disconnecting from her. She broke with him several times before, almost on a whim each time, totally breaking his heart, her family made him feel worthless, she sometimes made him feel like he wasn't doing what was right in life with school and so on, kind of projecting onto Dylan what Jim was doing to her, obviously because she was trying too hard to please both Dylan AND her father and she thought that by molding Dylan into what Jim would have wanted Jim and D would get along, only pissing them both off in the process. Notice the look she gives her dad at 1:26. They're of the same mind about Dylan. Brenda is more like Jim than Brandon is in many ways. She's judgmental like Jim, whereas Brandon has Cindy's open mindedness about everyone and is less judgmental, but always trying to find the silver lining. Kelly was just there at the right place and time, and D knew she had a thing for him because she said she tried to get a date with him after he got together with Brenda (her slumber party confession). Dylan is an abandoned boy, and the Walshes always gave him that "we're about to dump you for good any second now" feeling, and he just felt more comfortable with Kelly, who also came from a less-than-picture-perfect background than the Walshes, who were sometimes even bigger overachievers than Andrea, and I think Dylan left Brenda before she would be the one to leave him, a third time, and for good. That's why he was kind of rude to her when he and Kelly confessed the summer affair. "Don't we owe each other honesty" being kind of hostile. Brenda wasn't the best gf at times. She always kept a part of her "open for the possibilities" and always wondered aloud whether Dylan was right for her, even in their best of times. As for Kelly's motives, they're clear. She and Brenda are mutually jealous, but Kelly allows herself to cross lines with Brenda because she didn't grow up with a Jim and Cindy. Her boundaries are murkier than Brenda's.. it's not that she's bad, she's broken. That's why Brenda can never hate Kelly for real... Brenda understands Kelly's pain. This is why this whole storyline was so so painful. The layers and layers of all of these relationships were so meticulously crafted... this is why the big scene in the park which is coming up was so climactic and still sends shivers down my spine to this day.
That’s why Brenda never fully went back to him. He made the biggest mistake of his life cheating on her. Yet they stayed friends and found each other in Europe later in life.
To be fair they both cheated that summer, they both were tempted and kissed others. Brenda thought of running off with Reek lol and Dylan wanted to go further with Kelly. Had it been some random girl I would say they were equal, but it wasn't. It was Kelly. So that is just the ultimate betrayal, by Kelly and Dylan. I will say this, people get really mad at Kelly and I do get that but that summer it was she and not him that really was trying to stop things and constantly bringing up Brenda. Dylan on the other hand was more than willing to toss his relationship aside and tell Brenda so that he could keep being with Kelly. Can someone please tell me why Brenda is speaking in an accent on the phone at the beginning of this clip? Was that her version of speaking French? Haha!!!
She was talking to Rick, whom she had a fling with when she was in Paris over the summer. She lied to him and made him think she was French, and then out of nowhere, she bumped into him at a video store in L.A., still pretending to be a French girl visiting her American family in L.A 😂. He ends up finally knowing the truth when they went on their date at the Peach Pit 😂. This was all during when she was still with Dylan. He knew about her fling in Paris, BUT she never told him that she bumped into him here in town, talking to him or agreeing to go on a date with him. She ends up breaking up with him for Rick, but then she breaks up with Rick after she finds Dylan and Kelly out on a date together.
he cheated first, and she never cheated. what are you talking about? Brenda stopped herself and didn't kiss Rick, while Dylan made out with Kelly the first moment Brenda left for Paris.
Dylan and Brenda came over to my moms house the other week and they were playing with their kids and then we went to dinner with the boys and I went over to Kelly’s house to play some music and I got some food

He literally lived down the street and she needed a ride home😂
It was plot writing. And according to the writer of seven seasons it was regretted.
certainly not! these are stories that attract the audience love triangles in series existed a lot after that
@@sarahcrew7132tell the writer don't tell me.
RIP Shannen & Luke ❤🌹🕊
I never liked Dylan cheating on the Brendan story line, too cliche besides I don't see Dylan doing that to Brendan.
Who it was isn’t important really it was her best friend Dylan
I don't know why this came up on my YT home page but...y'all do you know this show has already aired, right? Like, 30 years ago?? 😂
House is in Pasadena
I remember watching this the night it premiered. I was in Dylan’s camp all the way! I said THEY need to prove he cheated!
I always felt this was the worst way to do it. They ganged up on her took her someone secluded and acted like assh**les. I was 100% Team Brenda, their summer fling seemed fun until I saw the fallout. This is how I learned to never betray a friend
Dylan was the Sandoval of 90210 😂😂😂
I Cant STAND her. Not in real life and not on this show. She cheated on Dylan but HOW DARE HE cheat... And she got fired from this show for being a volatile drunk who got arrested and got in bar room brawls. And it wasn't Alyssa's fault she was fired from Charmed either. It was ALL HER. She has always been nasty. YES I SAID IT!
He only cheated on Brenda, not tha test :(
RIP SHANNEN
Okay but Brenda cheated to so their even. 😂but Kelly has always liked and wanted Dylan from the beginning so she was going to go for it. Not a great friend all these years later. It hits differently
Why was Dylan considered hot back then?
I think we were all obsessed with 90210 because of this storyline. Little did she know how significant the "who" was. Dylan, the original gas-lighter.
She was a hypocrite tho let's be honest
she couldn't have been a str8 A student if she was not smart enough to figure out who it was w/o asking.
Book smart and life smart are two different things.
The end of no return.
😂
Seems similar to Archie Andrews and Veronica Lodge.
The writers messed up a couple who were tv gold. I hated this.
Brenda's a hypocrite. What about her French fling?
What happened with the Sat test? Did he win an appeal or did he take it over?
he started it over in honor of his dad
I never liked Kelly always so selfish shallow snd self Center Brenda wss better for Dylan and Brandon snd Kelly domt Match at all Brandon wss too much for her😊
when you are old you see that things are less important
Rest in Peace Brenda Walsh/Shannen Doherty
Brenda was so beautiful ❤
Okay how has no one said anything about Brenda speaking to Rick with her french accent haha
Did everyone forget she was with Rick in Paris and wanted to run off with him.
Nobody forgot it but Rick wasn't Dylan's best friend. And Brenda came clean the minute she got home. Dylan held it because he knew he was screwed. And it was Brenda's alleged BFF. Huge difference.
Did she sleep with Rick? Dylan slept with Kelly.
No she didn’t. It was for fun.
@@valamossno he did NOT sleep with Kelly.
Andrea ❤❤❤❤
Why can we hear the crickets as their talking. That was sways so weird to me
Am I the only one that hated Brenda and Dylan together? I'm Dylan/Kelly all the way❤
Can someone please tell me why Brenda is speaking in an accent on the phone at the beginning of this clip?
She cheated on him first so they are even.
he cheated first, and she never cheated. what are you talking about? Brenda stopped herself and didn't kiss Rick, while Dylan made out with Kelly the first moment Brenda left for Paris.
@@NatDelfin didn't she consider running off with Rick and dumped Dylan?
@@NatDelfin wrong Brenda did kiss Rick though it's just to show how French kiss
if Sabrina carpenter dyed her hair dark and learned how to act she could play Brenda in a 90210 reboot
Dylan and Brenda came over to my moms house the other week and they were playing with their kids and then we went to dinner with the boys and I went over to Kelly’s house to play some music and I got some food
Stacy, Kelly, that Palm Springs girl. And that's just what we know about
Kelly Kapowski
When they put Dylan with Kelly that’s when I’ve stop watching how anyone like them is beyond me they brought out the worst in each other and not in a good way Dylan belong with Brenda Kelly belong with Brandon just saying
I never looked at Dylan the same after the Kelly situation. I couldn’t stand either one. Then I forgave Kelly once she started dating Brenda’s brother Brandon but then she ultimately betrayed Brandon as well for Dylan and I was DONE with them for good! Team Brenda always… RIP to Luke Perry!
