I can't believe i was able to understand around 96% of the story! This channel is amazing!

I was looking to see how much Japanese I know but the story really caught me

I'm so happy right now. In the beginning I didn't really understand anything because my brain wasn't switched to Japanese if that makes any sense but in the middle and end I could understand everything.

Thank you very much for the video. It is a perfect material for a beginner like me. I felt satisfied that I was able to understand almost the whole story and could clearly hear the words too.

I have spent this year reading each story when I felt ready for the next one. I found out there is a second book! I know what I want for Christmas, LOL. This book has been one of the most useful tools for me so far.

Nice story and very well presented and explained.
Please correct the last sentence in the summary. It should be Riko told Mai that HE (not she) wanted to go to Tokyo and see her.

Why does the English speaker keep saying Mai's name wrong? It sounds like he is saying Maya every time. Otherwise this is great.

This is called 鼻濁音 (bidakuon)...which can be loosely translated as "Nasal impure consonant/sound" (since consonants like が、ざ、だ、ば、ぱ are called 濁音 ). It is usually spoken by people in Eastern Japan, especially the elderly and is taught in standard pronunciation classes for becoming a NHK anchor or reporter, for instance. This applies only to "g" sounds that are found between vowels, not at the beginning of words, and only if they are not found at the beginning of one of the several nouns that make a compound word....
