      All the interesting stuff, lol. I'm just learning about this and there were 100s of these little farming communities scattered around, what was then the Northwest Territory. Ohio, Illinois, Indiana were conside the wild frontier. 65000 blacks lived in that territory at the start of the Civil War.

    Very interesting. Makes me want to get out and research some of the smaller towns around me. I know a lot were native american villages just north of here. Seems there were black villages down near Columbus GA. and a couple hours south of Atlanta. HUGS~Donna

    💜 Thank you for filming this area…while researching my family I learned that I’m a descendant of Ephraim Lett, who was part of that founding community (Paynes Crossing) in 1860. (He was from Virginia, and free, prior to the Civil War)
