After seeing how 50/50 the comments are on the difficulty, I've come to the realisiation that Prototype can be pretty easy, but I maintain there's a problem in that what makes it easy are usually cheeses. Spamming cannonball on Elizabeth Greene for example or destroying the spectre tanks by disguising, hijacking one, then running away and repeating. It's hard (be it good or bad difficulty) when you don't cheese, but boring if you do. That's the problem summarized a little better.
I think cheesy options are fine, because it's fun to find these options and then use them. It opens up the games to a wider audience and imho is a sign of great game design.
I found prototype 1 many times harder then prototype 2 even harder then prototype 2’s insane difficulty the final boss off prototype 2 on insane I find is much better and harder

In the final monologue in the game, the one where he says "I'm something less than human, but also something more," Mercer talks about his relationship with and the revelations he comes to about who and what he is. The conclusion that he comes to is that he's NOT actually Alex Mercer; he's the Blacklight virus, which infected Alex Mercer's corpse and, in effect, was made Alex the first person he consumed. A disguise so perfect, he himself didn't even realize it. He talks about Alex Mercer like a separate person, saying "Alex Mercer... This city suffered for his mistakes, for what he did at Penn Station. And whoever he was - that's a part of me." To him, Alex Mercer is just one of the thousands of people he's consumed, his memories mixing with the thousands of others he contains. And when you view the game through that same lense - that you're not playing as an amnesiac Alex Mercer, but as a monsterous strain of Blacklight wearing Alex Mercer's skin like a onesie - the fact that the game never takes the time to make you CARE about what's going on makes thematic sense. Your character is a VIRUS, not a Human; any cell of a Virus only cares about one thing; surviving and creating the best conditions for its success through mutation and replication. It doesn't care about what it destroys in the process of spreading, doesn't care about other strains of the virus, all it cares about is surviving and thriving. But through Alex Mercer, this strain of Blacklight mutates to both achieve sentience as well as consume MEMORIES in addition to Biomass (something only Mercer's strain can do). And now it's figuring out what benefits that brings and how that adaptation can help it spread, which it does by consuming the memories of others who know about its existence and piecing together what that all means. All of this viral thought process is framed through Alex's human mind, but it's important to recognize that it's NOT Alex's mind at work. Just like he says, "Alex Mercer died in Penn Station." We are not playing as Alex Mercer, any more than we're playing as Randall, or Tagart, or Cross, or Greene, or any Blackwatch solider we consume. We're playing AS the Blacklight Virus, the one strain we're capable of identifying with on any level, and that explains both the unhinged, senseless violence he perpetrates as well as the batshit insane conclusions he comes to at the end of Prototype. It seems insane because sanity is just the average moral compass most people adhere to; but Mercer ISN'T human and doesn't have any use for human morality. In that aspect, I think Prototype is one of the few games that EVER successfully pulled off a game whose protagonist had an alien mind compared to humanity; not only does it become clear your character isn't human, but the actual gameplay REINFORCES that fact and PUTS THE PLAYER into its mindset. Playing Prototype has always made me feel squicky, and it's not just because you can shred human bodies by surfing them over pavement; what you're doing in game and reasoning behind it is so outside of human morality that it's jarring to your brain and makes you feel weird for enjoying. If for no other reason than that really novel experience, I think the game is worth everyone playing, even if they don't like it. ESPECIALLY if they don't like it, because it creates a great opportunity for introspection and understanding yourself better. The game is definitely a clusterfuck in a lot of ways (the dialogue is utter trash, seriously) and hasn't aged super well, but how it handles and presents making a virus the protagonist is absolutely amazing.
I mean that's cool and all but the story is still told poorly. The dialog and writing isn't great either. Still love the Prototype games but one of the best stories ever told? IDK bout that

When I was 13 my gf invited me over to "hang out" we got to her place and I found out they had video games. I found this game and ended up playing it for 3 hours. Virginity protected.

Well I have Prototype 2 on Steam and I never went past the initial loading screen. But I heard I didn't miss out on anything particular, it was inferior to the first.
A girl once asked me "if you could have superpowers what it would be?" I sent her prototype intro cinematic without a second thought...i remember i was at my neibghour's house and we didnt have the hardware to play it so we spent hours and hours just watching the gameplay on youtube and fantasizing about playing it ourselves and just cometing how good the game was it was kinda sad realy but looking back now is a happy memory...and finaly,finaly i got a laptop that could run this game and when i sat down to play it myself i was the happiest i could be...Great Great review it realy brought out my memories and experiences with this game
If I ever become a multi millionaire, I’m gonna buy radical entertainment or open a new company and offer the og devs to come and work on prototype 3. And I’d give my personal input on the game and not just be a publisher who doesn’t make the game and just sees some internal trailer and thinks it might be profitable. The two main philosophies I’d give them are take the parts that are fun from realism and leave the bad parts out, if a game is too realistic it’s not fun to play but if it’s too unrealistic then it’s not immersive. The other one is don’t take anything from the game, just add to it. If people like something and you take it out and try to replace with something that you think will work better, most of the time it doesn’t work out and feels lesser than the previous system. Instead to try and add onto the existing system by recognizing what made it so good in the first place and expanding on that same mechanic to make it even more of what it is
They didn't shut radical studios, prototype 2 didn't have much profit and people started to leave. The rest of Radical are just a support team for Activisons projects but they're still there

actually the muscle mass makes all the basic combat abilitys more powerful, this includes cannon ball attack, the uppercut, air combos and drop atacks, making it the most versatile and powerful power, basically the uppercut can kill a week hunter or reduce his life to the half, same for the tanks, cannon ball can combine whit the air kick to destroy the helis in one or two hits, muscle mass op
It could be done if they market it right with new technologies. It could be the game the crackdown should've been like real time destruction of the city.
Quick note: If you dash momentarily before touching the ground, you'll start your run at terminal velocity. Cool way of maximising speed with the dash. As for the soundtrack, you owe it to yourselves to listen to "memory in death". And finally, I must correct myself. It's run to dash and jump to glide. In the sequel these are reversed.
I used to dash as soon as you release the jump button, it'll propel you in a ridiculously high and long arc (compared to how you normally move). Jesus, this game had me in for so many hours
In Prototype 2, there's also an exploit/bug that when you are running on a wall, jump up and then time your character to turn right or left will give you a massive forward momentum along with the vertical height gained from that jump.
Yeah, it was supposed to be an epic fight, that thing was one of the worst battles I ever saw on a game, run behind building, eat hunters, crit pain devastator, repeat, boring as hell.

I've only had a glimpse of the first prototype game when I was younger because my mom borrowed the game from someone and had to give it back so I never saw it again. And during that time I really liked the gameplay mechanics and the whole tone of the game. Sometimes I wish I was able to play more of it.
I remember playing the shit out of this game. Was really sad when I found out Alex becomes the bad guy in Prototype 2. The 12 year old me was fascinated by the way Alex Mercer evolved LMAO like it was for real. Was kinda proud of ma boi!
Fun Fact about the Hunter Leader mission: I managed to complete the interest part by just flying with a helicopter and shooting it every once in a while. It made it so much easier. FIGHTING THE DAMN THING HOWEVER...
I started with Prototype 2, I thought to myself "everyone is talking about how good the first one is, how could they make it better than this?" Silly me :)
What did u thought was good about prototype 2 before knowing about prototype 1? Im not necessarily saying its super bad or smth im asking because i didnt get to do the same thing as u and im interested how u felt about it
I bought the game because my Uncle had also played it on his old PS3. What I liked most about Prototype 2 (even to this day over the first Prototype) was the atmosphere. It starts right off with a post-apocalyptic NYC and the red zone. After the start it then sends you to the Yellow Zone, free to explore. With civilians all walking around in dirty clothing, many sick, many crying it makes the whole infection seem much more devastating to the city. The story is also much darker than most stories in Action games. Sitting through all the memories of Blackwatch doctors and soldiers while ripping others in half. The only thing that I wished was that i t would be harder. There was no point in my first playthrough where I had any problems dealing with an army of infected/soldiers. Then the gameplay. Even while I didn't know about Prototype 1, the upgrading system was rather lackluster. I mean gathering Blackboxes just to get an upgrade shouldn't be how you get better. Also the movement was only fun (as fun as it can be considering you only hold one button) after getting all the upgrades for it, which happens right at the end of the game. That's why i had a lot more fun on my New Game+ Playthrough, I felt like an absolute beast with all powers and great movement. But then I played the first one on PC and it blew my mind. There was much more detail and effort put into this game which got completely taken out. I still like the second installment more for it's atmosphere. While you have people crying, begging for money, protesting against Blackwatch or just flatout turning into an infected in Prototype 2, you have a normal city with everyone just minding their own business while a Hive just spawned next door. But that is also it in terms of advantages. The story itself (excluding the world it's set in) is much more immersive and dark in the first game, having even Alex Mercer questioning his horrible actions throughout. And I actually had a lot of difficulty on my first playthrough, this game actually is hard compared to the second one. As for the gameplay, once I played the first Prototype I found out what it means to have satisfying movement, something the second part messed up entirely. The starting movement in the first game was like the fully upgraded one in Prototype 2. The upgrading system is much better thought out as well and the powers were much better to use, having two different chargeable attacks for each power (and more with upgrades), in air combos, different devastators, more defensive options and overall a unique combat system. Prototype 2 can't even come close to the superhuman feeling that Prototype 1 gives you. TL;DR Prototype 2 was a step up in Presentation, but sadly an absolute downgrade in everything else, which i didn't know while playing the second one.
Every few years I'll come back to this video just to reminisce about what the prototype franchise could've been , on current gen it would look absolutely amazing
@@wolfofdoom3294 Blacklight(Blackwatch*) was the operation of a group of soldiers involved in the game. I played through the game again recently and the virus is always named "Mercer Virus" by the people in the game because he was the origin of the second outbreak so the superiors named it that and eventually everyone does.
@@wolfofdoom3294 Well I was wrong about it being Blacklight and you're right about it being Blackwatch but otherwise I still heard Mercer Virus consistently in Prototype 2 and no mention of Blacklight Virus. Maybe to make it less confusing amidst chaos when a player is trying to listen to something and they don't accidentally think Blackwatch over Blacklight so its just called Mercer Virus instead. Even Alex Mercer's origins as him being one of the scientists that developed it is never mentioned so you don't really get a good recap on Mercer's earlier history so it would just complicate the story to have a virus called Blacklight and a military operation called Blackwatch.
I really loved this game back in the day. Once you've gotten far enough along Alex really feels like some indestructible behemoth. That pure joy the first time you activate Armor and go barreling down the street knocking people and cars and obstacles out of the way like they're cardboard cutouts is insane. Best description I could come up with for Alex is; he's basically what you'd get if Spawn and the Hulk made a baby.... Prototype 2 was ok, but Heller never felt anywhere near as powerful as Alex did while playing.
Exactly. I think the publisher should be happy that it was not a complete flop, instead of disappointed with the sales figures... I mean the game came out around the same time as the likes of GTA IV, MW2, Fallout 3, Batman Arkham Series, Gears of War, Assassins Creed 2, the fact that this game was not a complete flop and stood its ground amongst genuine titans needs to be appreciated.
25:40 I disagree, I tried hard to always heal myself on infected already dead peoples. Checking into vehicles to see if they were empty before throwing them. I also felt tinges of remorse when I killed web-target that after comsuption weren't bad people (though most of them were psychopaths.) I probably played a kinder Mercer than the canon one, but it helped me identify to Mercer in a way, turn him from villain to actual anti-hero.
Yeah, it would be preferable if there was a soft core karma system. Someone on Tumblr suggested the same thing for a remaster, where the main story stays mainly the same, but the way that the marines and blackwatch mention you is different if you actively don't kill them unless necessary. Over comms, they're less spiteful and more like "dammit it's mercer again", like a dangerous stray as opposed to a main threat. With a high enough karma, you just throw the soldier out when hijacking a tank.

I really enjoy this game, love the story, and root for Alex Mercer always, the graphics is actually a good thing to me because my no graphics card laptop can't even run newer games like shadow of the tomb raider, while Prototype runs smoothly
Well, a TON of games with sequels get comics, they are usually made to tell what happens between game 1 and 2 and are mostly canon, unless it's Mortal Kombat wich is weird

First time I played prototype I killed her pretty easily, last year I replayed the game and couldn't beat her and actually stopped playing the game and never finished it
the crazy part is when i was 12 i rented this game and played it at my friends house when i stayed the night and i rented it for 1 day so i had to beat it while also taking turns playing the xbox with him and some other friends so i got to play 1 hour every 2 hours and i beat that game starting from 6 pm till 3 am first time playing it btw and i did the same with the second one at that same persons house
Everything was easy until "Revenge Revisited", "Nice Guy", "Hard To Kill" on that final run... cause you had to unlock these 4 achievements... ( and had already completed the game 5 times.) "Trail Of Corpses" was obviously the last to open.
the thing is that the way you fought greene is totally different when compared to the other bosses. she has her own rules and she punishes you really hard when you mess up
I remember renting this game from hollywood video (remember when that was a thing) when it came out, and even with all the violent games i had played before, 16 year old me was still shocked at how brutal this game was. i loved it, beat it in like 2 days
I wish there is a Prototype 3. James Heller is attacked by the Pariah. Cornered and defenseless, Pariah is about to deliver the final blow to Heller when he hears a voice in his head saying: "Need a hand?" Then a hand burst out of his chest (a la Alien style) and blocks Pariah's attack. Alex Mercer is back.
the issue with that game was that you were practically invincible by the end, just whip out the shield, nothing will really break it and you're gonna heal faster too
@Whitelight there is one movement skill that i’ve never seen people use, which i have used since forever is When you want to capture a helicopter mid air, do a flying kick towards it by holding left click and just as you’re about to touch the chopper press E, Alex opens his arms in a grab posture and climbs on the chopper much like Pressing E in Prototype 2. At some points on the game it feels really suffocating. Facing bosses, soldiers, infecteds, big fkin ass infecteds, and all at the same time. Really caotic. But all that makes the game so fun.
In my prototype play through I tried to be the “Good guy” meaning I only consumed like 4 civilians (just to many for the achievement) and mostly targeted the Blacklight hives
Sam Etchells well too many time we saw the good guy being the actual bad guy! Plus infamous as no real new mechanics unlike prototype. Ho and yeah with all the money they put in it the result was mostly a meh! No real impact like lets say god of war on psx

Infamous is highly overlooked when compared to other ps games, it’s not underrated bc it’s does receive great ratings just overlooked, the only thing prototype has over Infamous is the sandbox free play, it’s more fun, but considering everything else like characters, plot, themes, music, and mechanics, it towers over prototype

We need a spyro-type remake of this game. Up the graphics, maybe add new mechanics. Maybe add a few things to make the story more... Straightforward. Too many people don't know that he's actually the virus (despite him literally saying it), that the story is 90% in the web of intrigue, ect. Watch the fans flood back - and more coming.
Almost two years ago this is the video that convinced me to buy Prototype despite the bad reviews. It was completely worth it, and I'm glad I found my way to this channel again
I am surprised that many people found this game too difficult. I played [Prototype] 1 for over 80 hours and I never found it particularly challenging. It is certainly true though that almost no other game makes you feel this powerful. The only other game that has given me the same sense of unbridled power is its sequel [Prototype] 2. I know many people dislike it because of its story, but at least I think that its game play is just as fun and in some ways more balanced than the original.
i agree, i cant remember ever really struggling with this game, althoug i remember it being frustrating at times, but nothing compared to dark souls. maybe its something psychological for me, where i got introduced into dark souls as *oh its this really hard game, like its hard bro* as for prototype it was more like yeah you're a god, have fun.
@@Skittles694 I think one thing that prevents [Prototype] from being really difficult is your mobility. Almost always you can simply evade danger by keeping a building between you and your enemy and munching on some fragile humans, which is fairly easy once you get a few movement abilities. Dark Souls would be a cake walk if you had effectively infinite estus and where more mobile than all of your enemies. If you wanted it to be actually challenging you had place limits on yourself, do not eat civilians, do not spam devastators or bullet drop, do not simply disengage by transforming too often. [Prototype] was fun but its mission design was certainly its biggest flaw, personally I do not remember ever being annoyed to the same the degree by the missions in [Prototype] 2.
@@Skittles694 I actually found this one both more skill-intensive and less frustrating than Dark Souls. DS's difficulty, for me, was almost entirely located in its slow pace. I probably died more in Prototype, but it was never as plain annoying, since I could *race* back into the action, whereas DS required a certain degree of methodical play.
@@masterfreeman117 Dark souls IS a cakewalk once you understands its systems thou. You kill bosses in 1-2 minutes, less than 1 if you use have a decent build, and less than 30 seconds if you use sorcery (vast majority of the time). Further more, if you simply run away basically nothing can catch you. I personally never found estus limiting except for the early game and even then really only during your first play though because you don't know where bonfires are. I can't even remember the last time I died because I ran out of estus. Also you CAN simply outrun everything. On the other hand my fight Elizabeth in prototype was REALLY aggravating. I would run 2 blocks away (one horizontal and 1 vertical), heal up, maybe take care of the hunters she spawn, run back, and do 1, maybe 2 attack before i'm forced to retreat again. The entire fight took likely took an hour. Not a single boss in dark souls took me that long to complete.

A ridiculously underrated masterpiece, awesome fluid gameplay, and the powers..Dear God they are so satisfying, pure carnage. Mercer is just so badass. I highly recommend it to everyone I know who never played it, they are missing a lot!
19:15 That whole thing is where they realize you don't have their memories and try to trick you. They tell a throwaway that she's your girlfriend so you go looking for her once you eat their memories, and she's an agent for blackwatch out to trick you, and get you killed. She has you do some dangerous missions, destroy the infection, and then fight a bossfight. It was a trap, not a girlfriend.
@@Ostrid1 Alex didn't use all of his powers to trick him,make a fight somewhat of a challenge but not too much for Heller not to win.Why? Because Alex absorbs,you become one with the virus,Heller absorbed Mercer and it will probably take a year or two for him to break and Alex taking control.Think about how easy would it be to beat Heller as Alex in prototype 1 using all of your powers.
Prototype was the first game I bought on day 1. Prototype 2 was the first game i'd ever pre-ordered. These 2 games are wicked fun and I'd recommend it to anyone.. if Prototype 1 worked on my PC.

It seems insane because sanity is just the average moral compass most people adhere to; but Mercer ISN'T human and doesn't have any use for human morality.
In that aspect, I think Prototype is one of the few games that EVER successfully pulled off a game whose protagonist had an alien mind compared to humanity; not only does it become clear your character isn't human, but the actual gameplay REINFORCES that fact and PUTS THE PLAYER into its mindset. Playing Prototype has always made me feel squicky, and it's not just because you can shred human bodies by surfing them over pavement; what you're doing in game and reasoning behind it is so outside of human morality that it's jarring to your brain and makes you feel weird for enjoying.
If for no other reason than that really novel experience, I think the game is worth everyone playing, even if they don't like it. ESPECIALLY if they don't like it, because it creates a great opportunity for introspection and understanding yourself better. The game is definitely a clusterfuck in a lot of ways (the dialogue is utter trash, seriously) and hasn't aged super well, but how it handles and presents making a virus the protagonist is absolutely amazing.
In short. It feels good to be a monster.
And there still aren't any new games of this genre. Prototype 1 and 2 and Hulk ultimate destruction are the only 3 ever made. 😢

If I ever become a multi millionaire, I’m gonna buy radical entertainment or open a new company and offer the og devs to come and work on prototype 3. And I’d give my personal input on the game and not just be a publisher who doesn’t make the game and just sees some internal trailer and thinks it might be profitable. The two main philosophies I’d give them are take the parts that are fun from realism and leave the bad parts out, if a game is too realistic it’s not fun to play but if it’s too unrealistic then it’s not immersive. The other one is don’t take anything from the game, just add to it. If people like something and you take it out and try to replace with something that you think will work better, most of the time it doesn’t work out and feels lesser than the previous system. Instead to try and add onto the existing system by recognizing what made it so good in the first place and expanding on that same mechanic to make it even more of what it is
They didn't shut radical studios, prototype 2 didn't have much profit and people started to leave. The rest of Radical are just a support team for Activisons projects but they're still there

Quick note: If you dash momentarily before touching the ground, you'll start your run at terminal velocity. Cool way of maximising speed with the dash. As for the soundtrack, you owe it to yourselves to listen to "memory in death". And finally, I must correct myself. It's run to dash and jump to glide. In the sequel these are reversed.

I used to dash as soon as you release the jump button, it'll propel you in a ridiculously high and long arc (compared to how you normally move). Jesus, this game had me in for so many hours
In Prototype 2, there's also an exploit/bug that when you are running on a wall, jump up and then time your character to turn right or left will give you a massive forward momentum along with the vertical height gained from that jump.
The Elizabeth Green boss fight was easy, when you get low on health, run behind a building out of her line of sight and nom on hunters.

I've only had a glimpse of the first prototype game when I was younger because my mom borrowed the game from someone and had to give it back so I never saw it again. And during that time I really liked the gameplay mechanics and the whole tone of the game. Sometimes I wish I was able to play more of it.

What did u thought was good about prototype 2 before knowing about prototype 1? Im not necessarily saying its super bad or smth im asking because i didnt get to do the same thing as u and im interested how u felt about it
I bought the game because my Uncle had also played it on his old PS3.
What I liked most about Prototype 2 (even to this day over the first Prototype) was the atmosphere. It starts right off with a post-apocalyptic NYC and the red zone. After the start it then sends you to the Yellow Zone, free to explore. With civilians all walking around in dirty clothing, many sick, many crying it makes the whole infection seem much more devastating to the city.
The story is also much darker than most stories in Action games. Sitting through all the memories of Blackwatch doctors and soldiers while ripping others in half. The only thing that I wished was that i t would be harder. There was no point in my first playthrough where I had any problems dealing with an army of infected/soldiers.
Then the gameplay. Even while I didn't know about Prototype 1, the upgrading system was rather lackluster. I mean gathering Blackboxes just to get an upgrade shouldn't be how you get better. Also the movement was only fun (as fun as it can be considering you only hold one button) after getting all the upgrades for it, which happens right at the end of the game. That's why i had a lot more fun on my New Game+ Playthrough, I felt like an absolute beast with all powers and great movement.
But then I played the first one on PC and it blew my mind. There was much more detail and effort put into this game which got completely taken out.
I still like the second installment more for it's atmosphere. While you have people crying, begging for money, protesting against Blackwatch or just flatout turning into an infected in Prototype 2, you have a normal city with everyone just minding their own business while a Hive just spawned next door. But that is also it in terms of advantages. The story itself (excluding the world it's set in) is much more immersive and dark in the first game, having even Alex Mercer questioning his horrible actions throughout. And I actually had a lot of difficulty on my first playthrough, this game actually is hard compared to the second one. As for the gameplay, once I played the first Prototype I found out what it means to have satisfying movement, something the second part messed up entirely. The starting movement in the first game was like the fully upgraded one in Prototype 2. The upgrading system is much better thought out as well and the powers were much better to use, having two different chargeable attacks for each power (and more with upgrades), in air combos, different devastators, more defensive options and overall a unique combat system. Prototype 2 can't even come close to the superhuman feeling that Prototype 1 gives you.
TL;DR Prototype 2 was a step up in Presentation, but sadly an absolute downgrade in everything else, which i didn't know while playing the second one.

I played through the game again recently and the virus is always named "Mercer Virus" by the people in the game because he was the origin of the second outbreak so the superiors named it that and eventually everyone does.

Even Alex Mercer's origins as him being one of the scientists that developed it is never mentioned so you don't really get a good recap on Mercer's earlier history so it would just complicate the story to have a virus called Blacklight and a military operation called Blackwatch.

I really loved this game back in the day. Once you've gotten far enough along Alex really feels like some indestructible behemoth. That pure joy the first time you activate Armor and go barreling down the street knocking people and cars and obstacles out of the way like they're cardboard cutouts is insane. Best description I could come up with for Alex is; he's basically what you'd get if Spawn and the Hulk made a baby.... Prototype 2 was ok, but Heller never felt anywhere near as powerful as Alex did while playing.

Exactly. I think the publisher should be happy that it was not a complete flop, instead of disappointed with the sales figures... I probably played a kinder Mercer than the canon one, but it helped me identify to Mercer in a way, turn him from villain to actual anti-hero.
Yeah, it would be preferable if there was a soft core karma system. Someone on Tumblr suggested the same thing for a remaster, where the main story stays mainly the same, but the way that the marines and blackwatch mention you is different if you actively don't kill them unless necessary. Over comms, they're less spiteful and more like "dammit it's mercer again", like a dangerous stray as opposed to a main threat. With a high enough karma, you just throw the soldier out when hijacking a tank.

First time I played prototype I killed her pretty easily, last year I replayed the game and couldn't beat her and actually stopped playing the game and never finished it
the crazy part is when i was 12 i rented this game and played it at my friends house when i stayed the night and i rented it for 1 day so i had to beat it while also taking turns playing the xbox with him and some other friends so i got to play 1 hour every 2 hours and i beat that game starting from 6 pm till 3 am first time playing it btw and i did the same with the second one at that same persons house
Everything was easy until "Revenge Revisited", "Nice Guy", "Hard To Kill" on that final run... cause you had to unlock these 4 achievements... ( and had already completed the game 5 times.)

the issue with that game was that you were practically invincible by the end, just whip out the shield, nothing will really break it

When you want to capture a helicopter mid air, do a flying kick towards it by holding left click and just as you’re about to touch the chopper press E, Alex opens his arms in a grab posture and climbs on the chopper much like Pressing E in Prototype 2.

i played this game when I was 8-9 years old and I had fun
it wasnt really that hard
At some points on the game it feels really suffocating. Facing bosses, soldiers, infecteds, big fkin ass infecteds, and all at the same time. Really caotic. But all that makes the game so fun.

In my prototype play through I tried to be the “Good guy” meaning I only consumed like 4 civilians (just to many for the achievement) and mostly targeted the Blacklight hives

Sam Etchells well too many time we saw the good guy being the actual bad guy! Plus infamous as no real new mechanics unlike prototype. Ho and yeah with all the money they put in it the result was mostly a meh! No real impact like lets say god of war on psx

Infamous is highly overlooked when compared to other ps games, it’s not underrated bc it’s does receive great ratings just overlooked, the only thing prototype has over Infamous is the sandbox free play, it’s more fun, but considering everything else like characters, plot, themes, music, and mechanics, it towers over prototype

I actually dont hate Dad of War. Not a huge fan but neither am I of the old GoW's. But i dont care for Sony games' obsession with being movies and story over gameplay.

We need a spyro-type remake of this game. Up the graphics, maybe add new mechanics. Maybe add a few things to make the story more... Straightforward. Too many people don't know that he's actually the virus (despite him literally saying it), that the story is 90% in the web of intrigue, ect.

I am surprised that many people found this game too difficult. I played [Prototype] 1 for over 80 hours and I never found it particularly challenging.
It is certainly true though that almost no other game makes you feel this powerful.
The only other game that has given me the same sense of unbridled power is its sequel [Prototype] 2.
I know many people dislike it because of its story, but at least I think that its game play is just as fun and in some ways more balanced than the original.
i agree, i cant remember ever really struggling with this game, althoug i remember it being frustrating at times, but nothing compared to dark souls. maybe its something psychological for me, where i got introduced into dark souls as *oh its this really hard game, like its hard bro* as for prototype it was more like yeah you're a god, have fun.
@@Skittles694 I think one thing that prevents [Prototype] from being really difficult is your mobility.
Almost always you can simply evade danger by keeping a building between you and your enemy and munching on some fragile humans, which is fairly easy once you get a few movement abilities.
Dark Souls would be a cake walk if you had effectively infinite estus and where more mobile than all of your enemies.
If you wanted it to be actually challenging you had place limits on yourself, do not eat civilians, do not spam devastators or bullet drop, do not simply disengage by transforming too often.
[Prototype] was fun but its mission design was certainly its biggest flaw, personally I do not remember ever being annoyed to the same the degree by the missions in [Prototype] 2.
@@Skittles694 I actually found this one both more skill-intensive and less frustrating than Dark Souls. DS's difficulty, for me, was almost entirely located in its slow pace. I probably died more in Prototype, but it was never as plain annoying, since I could *race* back into the action, whereas DS required a certain degree of methodical play.
It's actually extremely punishing on harder difficulties.
@@masterfreeman117 Dark souls IS a cakewalk once you understands its systems thou. You kill bosses in 1-2 minutes, less than 1 if you use have a decent build, and less than 30 seconds if you use sorcery (vast majority of the time). Further more, if you simply run away basically nothing can catch you.
I personally never found estus limiting except for the early game and even then really only during your first play though because you don't know where bonfires are. I can't even remember the last time I died because I ran out of estus. Also you CAN simply outrun everything.
On the other hand my fight Elizabeth in prototype was REALLY aggravating. I would run 2 blocks away (one horizontal and 1 vertical), heal up, maybe take care of the hunters she spawn, run back, and do 1, maybe 2 attack before i'm forced to retreat again. The entire fight took likely took an hour. Not a single boss in dark souls took me that long to complete.
Hey I've got an idea! How about you make a Venom game with as much darkness and brutality as Prototype! It would be bloody amazing!

There's a helicopter near the Leader Hunter during the lead mission you can steal. Same for the Hammer escort mission, makes them both a breeze.

This game was brilliant, and so was hulk when it came out, very similar games in terms of gameplay
A ridiculously underrated masterpiece, awesome fluid gameplay, and the powers..Dear God they are so satisfying, pure carnage. Mercer is just so badass.
I highly recommend it to everyone I know who never played it, they are missing a lot!

That whole thing is where they realize you don't have their memories and try to trick you. They tell a throwaway that she's your girlfriend so you go looking for her once you eat their memories, and she's an agent for blackwatch out to trick you, and get you killed. She has you do some dangerous missions, destroy the infection, and then fight a bossfight.
It was a trap, not a girlfriend.

@@Ostrid1 Alex didn't use all of his powers to trick him,make a fight somewhat of a challenge but not too much for Heller not to win.Why? Because Alex absorbs,you become one with the virus,Heller absorbed Mercer and it will probably take a year or two for him to break and Alex taking control.Think about how easy would it be to beat Heller as Alex in prototype 1 using all of your powers.

Prototype was the first game I bought on day 1. Prototype 2 was the first game i'd ever pre-ordered.
These 2 games are wicked fun and I'd recommend it to anyone.. if Prototype 1 worked on my PC.
