Controls are so bad because the game was ported from the mobile version. In that version changing the controls made sense because it's, well, a mobile game. But they also ported controls to the pc version, and although original pc port was downgraded from the ps2 version, it was further downgraded to the mobile, and then ported again back to the pc. I still get mad to this day when thinking about this.
Actually it’s not the games fault it’s the TH-camrs he choose at the options to sprint by tapping the button instead of holding it this option was added to make the gameplay stimulus to IV/V where you not running as fast as when your tapping the button you can change this option at the settings

The video turned out amazing! GTA San Andreas was designed and developed with the PS2 in mind. I believe there could have been more features for the console, as I saw a "Store" mode similar to the PS3 or even an online mode within the PS2 for GTA San Andreas (based on what I've seen online, including "leaked" screenshots). Although the hardware struggles with certain aspects, the game is incredible and perfect. I wouldn't ask Rockstar for anything more except to create a San Andreas 2 or simply a GTA San Andreas with the removed content (dialogues, missions, items, weapons, and so on). I believe the removed content could make for an amazing and grand game. Your channel is great! I love watching comparisons, but what truly stands out is the fact that the PS2 version of GTA San Andreas manages to be superior in some aspects, though the remaster has its own strengths.
@@s4mmy3 Yep, I agree with what you say. And btw you are right, GTA 3 also had a beta multiplayer and some scripts can still be found in the PC version files. I'm not sure about San Andreas but as far as I remember Rockstar initially planed the game to be with 3 protagonists exactly like gta 5. Ceaser, Sweet and CJ but Ps2 couldn't handle it so it was scrapped. And about the definitive edition, I think it's a shame for Rockstar to have such a product, it has a great potential but needs a loot of work

After all, there are things that were removed that would be incredible today, even with powerful hardware like the PS3, PS4, or even PCs at the time they were released. (And also, for the '10-year anniversary,' they could at least launch some things to celebrate). And it was because of piracy that a few Brazilians got to know this masterpiece called San Andreas! Here in Brazil, unfortunately, the PS2 only arrived almost 10 years later, around 2009. Only people with money to import it from abroad (USA, Europe, China, etc.) had the console. Well, today, it’s more about the 'PS5 or Nintendo consoles,' for example. The taxation in Brazil under the president is really tough!
As someone who has never played the original PS2 version, I think that overall the DE is a solid and fun experience. It may not be perfect, thats for damn sure, but its fun. My biggest gripe with the DE (besides the graphics) has always been the aircrafts. The controls always felt extremely wonky to me, especially with how solid the flight controls are in GTA 4, 5 and Online. And now seeing the PS2 gameplay, it seems like the original SA had controls very similar to what we have now. Its a shame GSG butchered them so bad in the DE.
24:15 PS2/PC has checkpoint too, but only in final mission, for example when you fail to chase Tenpenny, the game will start at the chase when re-launch the mission
Thank you for this! I also feel like the DE SA car handling is really different. I couldn't find anything online about this. The weird thing is VC and 3 DE are exactly the same as the originals but SA is different. Tbf I quite like the DE handling though. The cars feel heavier.
@folev_333 yeah they don't turn as much and slide easier but they're faster. I genuinely like it though. Feels like they improved it. It's just so weird how no ones noticed and they didn't mention it.

One guy pointed out that the original San Andreas had a positions on the map where cars were programed to be slower and he turned out to be right. On some parts of the map like The Strip in LV the air resistance is set higher than the rest of the map which means cars go slower there and maybe that feature is missing from DE, making cars go to their default fast top speed everywhere
I just randomly discovered it too. I knew about it years ago but I forgot about it because I rarely played with the cement truck, and now I just randomly rediscovered it
PS2 version is still the closest to perfect. I never had an actual PS2, so I grew up on PC games, but now I'm (re)playing plenty of PS2 titles via emulator, and I'm blown away how good they are. Despite its obvoius weaknesses (like resolution and draw distance) most games of their time are the best experience on the PS2. GTA SA is one of the good examples of PS2 version being the best one in terms of atmosphere, controls and the overall feel of playing through the game.

The definitive edition is a nice revision of Grand Theft Auto San Andreas. The technology has been a 17 year gap between the original and the Definitive Edition.
18:30 In the original version also you have to pay for medical bills, this doesn't exists in the "definitive edition". 21:30 Also in the original version there is a hierarchy when scrolling weapons which goes from the lightest weapon (katana, micro smg, etc...) to the heaviest weapon (ak47, minigun, etc...), this is broken and messed up in the "definitive edition". And let's not forget that in the original version there is a replay system which doesn't exist in the "definitive edition". But even if there is this option, CJ is still running incorrectly because on ps2 when you hold the button, you sprint normally and when you tap you sprint even faster. On DE the way CJ sprints when tapping is the way CJ sprints normally on Ps2 if you understand

6:06 idk if you know, but in SA some streets have their own speed limits. For example, on The Strip in LV you can't go faster than a certain speed, even if your car/bike is faster. Cars in DE just reach that top speed fsster than cars in OG afaik 5:42 comes from the 2013 mobile versions, to make steering less heavy for who plays on phones

@@folev_333 Search up the Garver Bridge - in the mission Highjack with Cesar you reach the truck faster by driving on the bridge sidewalk than on the street. Becsuse the sidewalk has no limit (except the top speed of your vehicle). Made probably to render zones easier on a PS2, it's on PC too.

I read that there are many zones on the map like The Strip and Garver Bridge where cars are always slower, because the developers increased the Air Resistance in these places, which affects cars speed, making them slower probably to optimize rendering. I never knew that! So, maybe this thing is not present in DE and cars just have the same top speed everywhere which explains why they are faster in the place I tested it
@@folev_333 i don't know if these are present in DE, i'd try the "Highjack" sidewalk and see if i get to the truck faster or not. If these aren't removed, acceleration is simply increaeed in DE meaning you REACH top speed fsster. Which is possible since it runs at higher frames.

If SA DE didn't have those slow and mobile like controls it would easily win tbh. But man the game feels too slow, stealing a car is slow and you can't do the "hold space" trick to kill the driver and get inside car faster while also leaving the door open, a great speedrun strat that makes the game flow so smooth.

I might use PCSX2 for funny videos or other things but not for comparisons, because here is important to see the original games in their original state, in order to be a fair comparison

I'm not defending de but i think these were fixed in the latest versions. also the controls are better optimized for controller than mkb. i mostly play with an xbox controller so i can see the health indication as well. i guess playing with a mkb is really a downgrade. didn't really check tbh

Can you be fat, mascular or skinny? Can you learn different martial arts? Can you play around in 3 big cities and countryside from forest to desert? Can you go to driving, boat, motorbike and aircraft schools? Can you run territory wars and recruit gangs to have fun? Can you use nitro on cars? Can you play with cranes and do quarry missions where you work there? Can you drive the train and do freight missions? Can you do different tournament competitions in different stadiums? Can you do lowrider dancing duels? Is there a fully functioning hunger system with multiple restaurants and multiple menus? Can you buy many savehouses? Are there different bicycle challenges? I don't think you can do any of these things and many others neither in GTA 4 nor 5. That's why people still play san andreas because IT IS THE GAME. I can do much things and it is dynamic. My favorite game is GTA 4 because of its aura and story, but hands down gta san andreas is the most advanced and gameplay wise and fun wise it's my favorite.
@@folev_333 As a gangster simulation, it's probably fine. But in terms of story graphics physics shooting controls, it's already surpassed in everything. For example, the story in GTA 4 is the best in all of GTA 4.

as a gta sa mobile player, I can confirm there had been so many big changes that made that game worse looking.

In DE when you die you still lose all your weapons, I'm playing through the game for the first time right now as I picked it up on sale.
Looks like it is something to do with old savefiles because I have an old savefile in the beginning and when I die I still respawn with my weapons

7:28 Wow, personally i never face an issue like that. I playing GTA SA DE on iOS and CJ easily can jump or exit from moving vehicles without any issues at all.

@patrikkrywult I don't think so. In GTA 4 & 5 Can you drive trucks with trailers and do truck missions? Can you train your muscles by lifting weights? Can you run in the gym? Can you be fat, mascular or skinny? Can you learn different martial arts? Can you play around in 3 big cities and countryside from forest to desert? Can you go to driving, boat, motorbike and aircraft schools? Can you run territory wars and recruit gangs to have fun? Can you use nitro on cars? Can you play with cranes and do quarry missions where you work there? Can you drive the train and do freight missions? Can you do different tournament competitions in different stadiums? Can you do lowrider dancing duels? Is there a fully functioning hunger system with multiple restaurants and multiple menus? Can you buy many savehouses? Are there different bicycle challenges? I don't think you can do any of these things and many others neither in GTA 4 nor 5. That's why people still play san andreas because IT IS THE GAME. I can do much things and it is dynamic. My favorite game is GTA 4 because of its aura and story, but hands down gta san andreas is the most advanced and gameplay wise and fun wise it's my favorite.
@@folev_333 As a gangster simulation, it's probably fine. But in terms of story graphics physics shooting controls, it's already surpassed in everything. For example, the story in GTA 4 is the best in all of GTA 4.
