Aww she totally came into your life for a reason! What a cutie. I’m happy you’re feeling better about them, loss is hard but know they all felt love before that happened and that’s because of you.
@@tarantulakat I can imagine! Like just one thing after another is always tough. Like you don’t get any time to breathe. Always makes things more stressful especially when it comes to things with pets and creatures we love
My Phidippus audax Tidbit was "wild caught" in my dining room. He's still pretty cautious of me, but seems to be becoming less scared and interested in me sometimes. When I have the tank open, he'll reach out to my finger and jump on, but the fact that it's an alive surface freaks him out and he'll hop away. Still, adorable and such a fierce hunter and loves to hunt mature black soldier flies.
It’s tough loosing ones you love… it’s been a few years since my cat past away and I still think of him often. There are tones of cats, and they are inexpensive, but none will bite my nose at night and eat marshmallows the way he did. Love you Xellos. I really enjoy your content and absolutely love the jumping spiders. I’ll have to find a way to get some. =]
What if God was one of us...? 🎶🎵 Your new jumper looks like a Morganna or Morgan. I almost caught a little zebra jumper the other day. It was soooo tiny and adorable! But I wasn't prepared to care for one that Itty bitty. So I said hello, held it for a minute then helped it carry on its way.
My Lily passed away recently too. I caught her in my house so I'm not sure exactly how old she was. I kept her for about 9 months before I started noticing her slow down and struggle with catching prey. I put her in a little jar( thanks for the idea). She now resides in my fairy garden. Still makes me so sad.
That is so awesome. She is a little blessing for you. She should have a cute name like Joy. 🫶🏽🙌🏽🙌🏽💫 I so love your videos. Thank you for all you do. I'm usually a reptile mama... Hey same kind I caught last month been taking care of her I find lots of jumping spiders in my yard😍 thanks for teaching me about jumping spiders Kat❤️
Jumping spiders are amazing creatures. I do find they are very fragile as well. I do love their cute little faces. Your WC jumping spider is very cute. 💕
Jumping Spiders are ADORABLE but yeah, I feel your sadness when you lose them... I know, even if I don't have you, that would happen to me too! and unfortunately they have a very short lifespan....maybe this is the reason why they have so much babies!! anyways I enjoyed a lot this video! keep on, you are the best!
Keeping up with the drink names.. and she has some white like chai.. what about London, named after a London Fog (earl grey tea, steamed milk, vanilla syrup). She looks so sweet and inquisitive and I can’t wait to hear more updates! (:
Thank you for posting these kind of videos! I had a rough month with 2 of my jumping spiders that ended up dying after bad molts. I tried everything to nurse them back to health. It's sad too, because like my 3 yr old calls them "spider kitties", they have personalities, you get attached. But having raised mantids for a long time, I know things sometimes just happen. I have noticed though, my captive bred ones that I raised from slings do a lot better than the wild caught adults I get, so I think that's what I'm going to stick with for now. But I'm scaling back on keeping invertebrates for now.
YAYYY! so many babies!! I actually saw an Audax in a port-a-potty once and I was so scared. I refused to go anywhere near it for the rest of the day. A month later I found your channel and regret not catching it :(
My jumping spider Cinnamon laid a second egg sack and those babies are nearly ready to come out too! My first group of a hundred babies is now down to 8 that survived, each time we lost one it was so upsetting but the ones we have are some chunky little guys so I'm hopeful they'll be alright 😊 Your new jumping spiders look so happy! I love jumping spiders so much! Cinnamon has so much personality that she makes me laugh daily. Thank you so much for helping me fall in love with them😀
Its so sad. I had 3 P. regius over the course of a few years and they are so cute and personable but just like rats and hamsters they don't live long enough. It makes me so sad :( It was also sad watching my biggest and longest lived girl essentially become elderly and senile before passing away. Her sister died before maturing and then I had an ALMOST mature male who died on a bad molt on his final one. ITS SAD :( Makes me appreciate how long my T's will be with me all the more :) EDIT: OMG Kat Chestnut is too adorable you have the best names for your pets
Making me want to keep a jumping spider 😅 the ones I've picked up around my house I've gotten emotionally attached to they just seem to have docile temperaments and I agree there is something behind their eyes that speaks to me also. *calling it a spine bone is totally valid 👌😂 I also collect bones
Don’t know if you listen to podcasts but Ologies just put one out about jumping spiders and their sweet mating dance moves. I think you’d love it. The doctor she has on the show is so knowledgeable and fun to listen to! Give it a listen 🖤
Whoever takes the time two complain about somebody’s jumping spider video online is a person who has way too much time on their hands you’re doing a great job love your videos
We have twin flagged jumping spiders here in South Carolina. Update: one of my jumpers also died, I knew it was coming as he was a mature male, but it’s still sad to see them go :,).
How I found your channel was through your jumping spider videos and I got into Tarantulas ones straight after. I’ve now got two tarantulas and hopefully more to come soon. Glad to see you’re getting groove back ❤️
Did you separate the babies or leave them together? My momma is still in the nest, they hatched 2 weeks ago. I just don't want to do anything wrong and the anxiety is rough with this
@@twinmommycreations3270 I separated them around 2 weeks. Placed them in individual cups. And honestly...with my 2nd eggssck that came I believe when I separated them I put 2 to 3 in little deli cups together and just kept them well fed with fruit flies and they did great. I had anxiety about it as well, but you kind of get the hang of it after a bit
"something behind their eyes." I agree. My right ear was suddenly ringing real hard for a moment, after I got into bed to go to sleep one night, followed immediately by "oh my gosh, I left a wild jumper in my car, with no water". Hmmm
Oh man. My Kage (male bold jumper) passed away recently of old age too. I just held his little body while sobbing. These little guys really do make their way into your heart.
i caught a jumping spider outside after she visited me one morning and came back to me the next! she jumped on me immediately AND she accepts freshly killed bugs. im waiting for her new terrarium right now! it must really suck to lose them, i know ill take it hard when she passes too.
I recently caught a wild p. regius that is still fairly young when she showed up in my kitchen and set up a temporaryenclosure for her until I can order her a nicer one. It's getting cold here so I figured it would be better than putting her outside or leaving her susceptible to being killed by my cats.
You’re so lucky you have that kind of jumping spider native to where you live, she’s so cute! I live in northern utah and I only ever see black or gray(ish) males with the shiny green fangs. All though I did see one that had a bright red back, that was cool. He took a ride on my car while going about 40 mph. I came to a stop and he crawled down my windshield. I then drove like a grandma until I could pull over and catch him and put him somewhere safe.
I just ordered my first pack of P regius from Tom! These will be my first ever spiders! ....Except the hobo spiders I find in my house (: thanks for the inspiration Kat ❤️
Today I found a Menemerus semilimbatus male right outside my apartment's door. I had heard about their presence here (they're from Europe, I live in Argentina) but this is the first time I see one irl. They're very pretty
Persephone - A goddess of the underworld, outdating even Greek gods. The Greeks hijacked her as the bride of Hades, but she predates him. She's believed to leave the underworld in the summer and spring, reminding her mother to reset the seasons. When she returns to her husband, her mother weeps, bringing the winter. That image of rebirth is quite fitting. That'd be my name suggestion. I recently lost my first jumping spider, which has left me extra mopey. I can only imagine how painful it still is without Chai.
You lost a few, but now you have hundreds!! As sad as it can be, it’s the circle of life. Now you just have to figure out what to do with ALL THOSE CUTE BABIES!!
I have a Phidippus Regius/ Otiosus hybrid. I had 3 others, but since they are hybrids, they seemed to have a short lifespan, but the one I still have has grown so much!
I feel this frustration. We lost one of our first and her last sac of babies are still in the sac and were translucent still. We also lost two of her 1st batch of babies which was a shock as they were coming on so well. 😢 We lost a bunch of her 2nd batch and all but one of the 3rd bunch and we've called that one lucky. It's so hard. Sending you positive thoughts ♥️
You might not be allergic to coco-fiber, it's pretty likely that super fine particles from it end up in your sinuses and just kind of clog up the works. I used to use the expandable blocks of it when I worked for a wildlife educator but if we expanded extra we'd store it dry, and the wet stuff never irritated my sinuses but scooping the dry stuff did just because it's so dusty.
I have lost a lot of my jumper babies too and it bummed me out so much. My first girl Natasha is my chai basically and she’s sitting on her fifth sac, her fourth only contained a singleton sling. I’m hoping to pair my male with my other females soon. Jumpers are the funnest critters. I feel your sorrow when you lose them too.
My p audax Viridian was wild caught as a VERY small juvenile/potentially still sling size and she's been such a joy to watch grow and blossom Jumping spiders really are special 💖
My Theodora HATES coconut fiber! If any gets on her she shakes her little leg to get it off. 😂 so I stopped using substrate altogether. She’s never on the bottom of her enclosure anyway
I had a similar thing happen with my new guinea pigs. I lost our older of the two pigs and one of my younger rabbits on the same day. I lost my oldest rabbit this year as well and my oldest cat. Lost my dog last year, I was just....so done. Then these boys came up and I was just thinking maybe they would be good cage mates for my boy that was left cause he is so nervous....But one of them has totally grabbed me and reinvigorated my guinea pig love. I have fleece pads ordered, a big wooden castle, more stuff saved. I'm so scared something will happen but I just want to spoil him and his brother for however long I have them.
I honestly didn't know that jumping spiders got so big! The ones I typically see here in Florida are all teeny tiny. They get a LOT bigger than I thought.
Girl, you did better than me .. I had a js sling.. for about 4 weeks. I blinked! .. gone, nowhere to be seen. I felt so shitty about it I never got another jumper.

Hey Kat, Phidippus otiosus are a smaller species than P regius, looking at your one from what I can see she is adult or 1 moult away from adult at the most. Otiosus are such feisty little jumping spiders too, they will easily take down prey the same size and even a bit larger than they are. It's so upsetting when jumping spiders pass, such a shame that they don't live for long. I've recently had a few pass away on me, and younger ones too, but I think it was down to a bad batch of feeders 😢 Someone suggested the name Opal, the birthstone for October, what a perfect name 😍

So glad that you found another jumping spider that captured your heart. They make me so happy and seeing them in your content has been a pleasure :)
I've never been a fan of spiders but I have always felt like there was something special about jumping spiders. It's almost like they are self aware.
The spine bone thing reminds me of my anatomy class, where the teacher emphasized that we shouldn't call the skull, pelvis, or spine singular bones.
Making me want to keep a jumping spider 😅 the ones I've picked up around my house I've gotten emotionally attached to they just seem to have docile temperaments and I agree there is something behind their eyes that speaks to me also.
