Sweet little reel. Very light and compact. Mine arrived a few days ago. Haven't had a chance to fish it yet, but it passed all of my usual function and casting checks in the back yard. It has an audible, clicking spool tension knob and star drag just like the Alloy M and Alijoz which I also own. And I didn't even need the centrifugal brakes during testing. The 20-position magnetic brake system worked just fine for me! Another winner, IMO.
I own a Piscifun Phantom and o LOVE it. I ordered the carbon xcs after watching rhe reel test video on it. Cannot wait to get my hands on it. I paid about 52 dollars for my black one on Aliexpress. Enjoying your channel. Tight lines.
Just a heads up, you measured the weight of the reel on the FLUID OUNCES (fl. oz.) setting of your scale, which is likely why it weighed in less than the specification. 1 fl. oz. = 1.04 oz. wt. 5.2 fl. oz. = 5.42 oz. wt. EDIT: Numbers used for conversion represent water density value of 1.0 but that's irrelevant in this situation.
@@joshuagreene9976 I ended up ordering an alloy M. When I recieve it I’ll open it up and put full ceramics into it. I’ll put x2 gauge springs into it as well as swap any bushings for bearings. I’ve been told if I do these things I’ll have a 400 dollar reel. As the tolerances on this reel match any of daiwas.

Mine needed a light dab of grease on the main gear and a drop of oil in the main shaft bearing and am totally stoked with it There's nothing on the market like it.I am also going to get the white. Gonna be great for fishing mini chatterbaits,and small spinnerbaits. The spark pro must be really tiny if it's smaller,I like the look of it as well. Cheers mate.
@@dbbfishing2528 Hi again DBB,the only reel I've seen similar that looks nice is on that Dankung fishing .. It's the fishband clamber hyper 8.1 to 1 has alloy frame and a semi shallow 8 grm spool. Must admit that does look nice Doesn't have quite the drag power of the xcs and only mag brakes. Cheers

Have you looked into the Academy Sports and Outdoors H2O Xpress M3 Mettle? It's normally $50 but on sale they run $35. The Tac 40 is $80 or $56 on-sale they both have aluminum frames and the same brake system as the curado I have. Those H2O Xpress reels are super smooth. They also have one that has magnetic brakes the Ethos HD
I haven’t tried one of them in about 10years. Back then they were the budget of the budget! I’ve been hearing good things about them for the last few years. I’ll stop by there tomorrow and do a review on it. Which one do you recommend?
@@dbbfishing2528 I have the M3 Mettle and the Tac 40 and they both perform the same the tac 40 is just lighter due to the carbon fiber side. I like centrifugal brakes so I didn't even consider the Ethos HD.
Great review there DBB.This may be the reel I'm after, similar in spec to the Kastking megajaws.Which has basically the same braking system but a fancy version of it.I have Alloy M which is also great,and that IMO can cast 5 grm pretty well.In your opinion for a second reel( I am after a high speed) would you recommend this or get the high ratio Alloy M as they are similar in price?
James you can’t go wrong with the Alloy M but I will say I’m impressed with this reel! I haven’t caught anything big on it yet but it cast super smooth and the retrieve is equally as smooth and the lightness of this reel like I said so far I’m impressed!
@@dbbfishing2528 Thank you so much DBB ,now decisions decisions.There is a video on TH-cam where a guy completely strips the xcs showing the inner workings and it is very impressive.I would say as well thought out and assembled if not better than reels 3 to 5 times the price .It's the most comprehensive teardown I've ever seen,he completely takes it down .
@@chepachii yeah I saw that video it was pretty good! I don’t tear down reels anymore because I’m bad about losing the small pieces lol 😂 so I will if I have to. But I don’t think for the money if you’re looking for a light reel this is the one to get. I wish they made different gear ratios
@@dbbfishing2528 hi DBB ,Hi now have both the SP and the XCS The xcs feels like a way more solid reel but the SP casts smoother and winds smoother The xcs is winds as free but feels slightly rougher doing it. Xcs stronger drag for sure. I like them both but xcs definitely feels the sturdier reel. Cheers
They’re a very good reel I’ve been throwing flukes and Senko’s with them testing how they preformed with weightless baits and they’re awesome with them!
I fished it. It’s ok. It’s no bantam mgl. I found the braking system lacking myself. In fact I put a message into Piscifun. Asking them to let me do the designing on an Alloy “HD” I’ve got some ideas for, including a second braking system.

I'm new to baicasters and my Piscifun reel is not even here yet. It was shipped about a week ago, but I'm playing with the idea to make some cosmetic and probably BB changes once that I got it and tested. It has already a carbon handle, a probably pretty good and light one, so that's why I was thinking to change the knobs only. That's the idea if the reel has no problems. What u think?
