It all depends on how much it's worth to you. Each Designer brand has it's own society and influence/message. If you buy clothing for the name it might never be worth it, but if you feel passionate about the designer's story or a certain piece speaks to you it's worth it. You should look at clothing like art pieces, not clothing.

People will argue quality and rarity make it worth it when in reality quality doesn't matter when you're paying $300-400 for a t shirt. Some items like leather jackets/shoes it's arguably worth spending more to get a better one but for the most part, designer clothing is a huge scam. And this is coming from someone who is super into fashion and has spent a good amount of money on designer clothes. I get more wear out of thrifted stuff than designer items I've bought.
