Ricky Skaggs came to sing in Juneau Alaska several years ago. We went to the concert. The next day I called my mom who lived in Colorado. I said, “guess who we saw in concert.” She said, “ give me a hint”. Hint- “country, gospel and blue grass”. She said “that would be Ricky Skaggs. ❤

Music is a powerful evangelist and can seep through and break down walls of the nonbeliever. Worked for both my sons (along with constant prayers,of course), but once I was saved we listened to nothing but worship music and it helped bring them to faith. I come from a musical background in hard rock and metal, but I was floored when I first heard Ricky Scaggs. Exceptionally gifted musician, yes. But it was something more. His music was always good in the larger sense, it was clean, warm, and inviting (as well as often raucously fun and humorous!). After I came to the LORD, I felt that Ricky’s music in general was Godly. Now I see in this great interview that he carried the elements of his childhood faith through his career, even if his songs didn’t overtly mention God. Amazing! I love a fellow Kentuckian. Funny sidebar. I know Eric was on Chynna Phillips California Preachin. Her famous Mom, Michelle Phillips told us on her bucket list was to meet Ricky Skaggs. We arranged him to call her on her birthday & it made her giddy. Hope they meet in person & Ricky can introduce her to Jesus.

I’m such a music fanatic and have not yet to meet Ricky! A music artist from my own hometown! I still do hope to meet him one day!

Wow I didn't know Eric Metaxas's spoke in tongues. I got the whole thing too. Believe it or not Mrs Billy Graham taught Sunday school for the college age kids at Montreat Anderson Jr. College where I was a freshman and she gave me a bible and and told me to believe everything in it. I did. Salvation at 18 and Baptism in the spirit at 19.
I started listening to Blue Grass music when I was a teenager at a time when it wasn't cool. I've loved the old style blue grass harmony and always wished I could sing with Ricky Skaggs. I will in heaven someday.

I got to see Ricky Skaggs in concert in the mid 80’s and it was one of the best concerts I ever went to (a triple feature with him, Merle Haggard and George Straight.) What an amazing performer and humble man. And what an incredible testimony! It’s incredible the singers he performed with and yet he didn’t seem to fall into the bad paths that some of them did. I always loved the great Keith Whitley’s singing , and didn’t realize that he and Ricky had that close relationship. What a difference their paths ended up on. Thank you so much for reaffirming what a Godly man he is. (By the way, Eric sounds exactly like my accountant😂)

Have always loved Ricky. My uncle used to work him on their job sites doing painting and such on places in Nashville and those surrounding areas I believe. I was so glad to actually finally see and hear him in person. Still great.

There name is Southern Raised. Have you had them on your show? So my event is to raise awareness to the community and especially the churches of the devastation of addiction and how Jesus can break those chains to bring recovery.
