small fact if an episode ends and there is no "to be continued" arrow it means that there is a post-credits scene
How have I, after watching this entire series, not known this
@@kingpeanut7273 no way bro 😭
@@kingpeanut7273This is simply how it is for anime in general.
Do you know all Jojo episodes where that happens
@Yozora_Verum_Rex Generally it is at the end of an arc or part. This goes for most anime as well. Attack on Titan as well, although AoT has a lot more and some mid season.
Oh God, the subs ruined an iconic line:
"I reject my humanity, JoJo!"
Changed to "cast aside my humanness"
Humanness isnt even a word...
Side note : happy birthday!
most people: watch subs over dubs because engrish funny
this guy: watch subs over dubs because british accents
lmao based
The Jojo dub isn't bad at all, but you miss a lot of content by going dub. A big part of the fun of the series is the exaggerated English words thrown into the sub, and you miss out on that entirely with the dub. Lots of names of characters, stands, and attacks are references to music, but they're mostly censored from the dub because of copyright. The names are still censored in the subtitles, but you can at least hear what the characters are saying to get the references in the sub.
Bump, subs are the way
As good as the dub is, it can't capture the feel of a lot of the random English thrown in since everything's always in English. Like all the "oh my god" moments in part 3 don't hit as hard if the English doesn't come out of nowhere
Subs are overdone in the reaction scene, we need more dub reactions
@@kaialone I sort of agree, but in this case it's mostly because he's said he usually watches dubs cause it's easier for him, which I relate to. You miss out on some things and some very sub specific humor, but you can always do a rewatch with the sub. Seeing as he's taking the time to be a little more analytical than most reactors, I honestly would prefer he does what's more comfortable for him. Besides, while the sub VAs are top notch (especially our boy DIO), the dub ain't bad. It might not be FMAB good, but it's still good for the most part.
I’ll give the dub this: Speedwagon sounds exactly like I heard him in my head when I first read JJBA 15 years ago
Happy birthday! Here’s your present…
IT WAS ME, DIO!
11:44 people dislike the early parts because it’s not what most people are first exposed to. They’re all like “when do we get to X?” “When do they start fighting with X?” But you’re fortunate in that you don’t have that influence so you can just enjoy the story
That's not true because part 2 is mostly everyone's favorite part and it doesn't have stands. But part 1 is just short and more like any other Shonen like hokuto no Ken while the others were based off of western movies like Indiana Jones for part 2 and possibly 3. Part 1 is underrated tho and I believe it is not at the bottom of the best to worst parts in terms of quality.
@@nicolasleal5644 I wasn't under the impression that part 2 is mostly everyone's favorite, usually that title goes to something like Golden Wind or SBR from what I've seen, But I do agree part 1 isn't the worst.
@@nicolasleal5644 I saw a lot of part 2 hate not gonna lie, it was equally hated as part 1, 5 and 6 for some odd reasons
@@nicolasleal5644 I love part 2 but it's definitely not "everyone's favorite part"
you dont know how shocked i was when I learned that the "to be continued" meme was from jojo's I kept on pointing it out everytime it came on 😭😭😂 and you seem so unfazed lollll!
I’ve gotten my excitement out in my outro reactions xD
HAHAHA yes you are right guess that makes sense loll @@Mattables
The colour changes represent mood changes of the characters (ie uncertainty). As a side note it's really refreshing seeing a reactor being very analytical and really getting into it. Part 1 definitely gets a bad rap (though I do agree it's the weakest part) it still can be very enjoyable.
I love breaking the scenes down, so I’m glad everyone enjoys it!
Also thematically to emphasize how at opposites characters are. In the scene with Jojo and Dio, they were green and pink, which are (close to) opposites on the color wheel. In pt 3 during the Jotaro and Kakyoin fight, they are colored green and purple but then swap when it changes from Kakyoin to Jotaros perspective on morality. I think it's done very intentionally because the color swaps with jotaro's flick of his hat.
@@Mattables(might be a bit late for this but whatev) it's also there because of the fact that in jojo's there aren't oficial color's, in some covers johnathan has green and even red hair(the anime whent with blue) it's because araki loves that kind of art(don't remember the name) where things are with different color, like the sky being green or a red ocean
In the original manga, in every volume cover or special colored page, the characters would be painted in different colors each time, having different hair or clothes colors. This is because Araki, the creator, has the artistic vision of representing a "feeling" with the colors he uses in each piece. And thanks to that, except for a few exceptions of colors mentioned in the story, JoJo doesen't have a canon color palette (Jonathan's hair could be blue as much as it could be brown). The anime obviously had to chose a color palette for the characters but decided to add the color changes to represent this aspect of JoJo, and many of the color changes are based on the colors of the characters in actual manga covers, which is pretty cool.
Also, happy late birthday! I hope you had an amazing day!
i adore his love for jojo seeing fresh eyes watching the series is amazing
Really glad that you're enjoying Part 1. A lot of people find Part 1 to be a bit too slow for their tastes and don't generally buy into the premise as much as you have, so I'm glad to see that it's working for you.
Personally I find episodes 4-8 are the boring part
@@shumanbeansThis. The boring part is the training arc, not the first ones
Fun fact: The manga actually started with a scene of a woman being sacrificed in an ancient Aztech civilization, for the leader to then splurt her blood in the mask, piercing his own brain and start shining.
This scene was probably meant to hook the readers right away and make them wonder what does that mask excactly do, but it was skipped in the anime maybe to make the apparition of supernatural things in episode 2 more impactful
References in these episodes.
Ep 2: The university Dio and JoJo attended is Hugh Hudson Academy, named after the Director of Chariots of Fire.
Ogre Street may be named after the Queen song, Ogre Battle.
This is a personal theory, but I think Speedwagon's hat references the James Bond Character Odd Job.
The whiskey Dio drinks is called Cronenberg, after the Horror Director David Cronenberg. It also has the sub-label Dead Zone, one of Cronenberg's movies.
The way the Vampire sucks Dio's blood is likely a reference to a scene in the 1982 movie The Thing.
Ep 3:
Robert E.O. Speedwagon is a reference to the band R.E.O. Speedwagon.
The guy who sold Dio the poison is named Wang Chan, which is a reference to the band Wang Chung.
The story about George giving Dario his ring may be inspired by the novel Les Miserables.
The noise Dio makes (Wryyyy) may be inspired by the iconic violin piece from Psycho.
the reason people find the first part of jojos slow isnt because its actually slow,
its because after part 1 it enters hyperdrive mode and keeps accelerating with every part.
if you thought vampires and zombies was crazy in no particualr order the show will eventually start casually introducing: wayyy too much more dog abuse, aliens, time traveling dinosaurs, superpowerd patrick bateman, space warping turtles, shapeshifting gods, shapeshifting dogs, shapeshifting logs, shapeshifting bogs, italian mafia, telepathic airbender plant cats, banana revolvers, sentient photographs, people without footprints, footprints without people, jesus christ, batman, cyborg nazis and vanilla ice.
and thats only just some of the stuff i can say without providing context that spoils the show and still have it make sense.
so yeah... part 1 does feel kinda slow by comparison.
"and vanilla ice"
Thanks for watching more! I'm really happy you're enjoying it, man! Also, happy birthday.
Damn that thumbnail pic is legit one of my favourite Dio close-ups so dramatic so peak
The strange color pallete swaps and weird patterns everywhere are a reference to the art and color theory of the series creator Hirohiko Araki.
Araki does not use color in his work "normally", characters do not have canon colors (with some minor exceptions like Dio being blonde) instead Araki just colors thing according to the vibe
An art piece could depict Jonathan and Dio as pink haired with purple clothes, and then immediately after it he draws Dio with firey red hair with matching lipstick & zebra striped pants
I do believe this last episode had an after credits scene. The rule for the first two parts of JoJo is that if the ending doesn't have "To Be Continued" before the outro song plays it means there's an after credits scene
HAPPY BIRTHDAYYYYY!! cant wait to see your reactions!! I've been dying to rewatch jojos so I think I'll do so here with you!!! 😆
also for the sub or dub thing I think part 2 has some iconic scenes/lines with sub! but do what you think is best for you!! :D
I am honored! Thank you so much! I’m happy we can go through it together :)
Also, the episode doesn't end until you get the "to be continued", theres more scenes after episode 3
22:00 YOU GET IT! That feeling of exploring the limits of the world alongside the characters that's what makes JoJo's so great!
I love seeing how a person falls in love with Jojo
I love the fact that you love and appreciate part 1 so much already :D Jonathan is very underappreciated.
Yooo happy birthday dude! Loving your JoJo reactions so far, really like when you analyze things and gush out about the things you enjoy so far.
Thank you so much! The show is just SO GOOD!
Being middle class in africa we always had a bunch of spooky traditional masks in the house i grew up in so yeah...😂
iS tHaT a JOJO rEFErEnCe???!!! 😱😱😱
If you get excited just for ep 2, you will go craizy for the last seasons 😂. Everything gets better and better
"I don't think Dio's getting the inheritance" 😂 dude I love watching this with you after watching it myself. It's so fun!!
Technically speaking, there's no fixed colourscheme for Jojo.
DP uses this so creatively when switching up the colour palette when shit is going down. Araki likes to experiment with colours and colour combinations, that's where DP gets all this from and it's amazing.
first of all, HAPPY BIRTHDAY 🎉
second, I WOULD RECOMMEND THAT YOU KEEP WATCHING THE SHOW IN JAPANESE, you can always go back & revisit it with dub but experiencing it for the first time should be in the way it's originally created.
third, IF YOU DON'T KNOW THEN IN THE FANDOM THERE ARE FEW TERMS PEOPLE USE FOR CERTAIN CHARACTERS IN THE SHOW -
Obviously we got our Main Protagonists who all got the nickname JOJO. Then usually every JOJO got a Best Friend or Multiple Homies whom we refer to as JOBRO, Speedowagon is the JOBRO for Jonathan & in the next episode you'll meet another JOBRO. Lastly, The Main Antagonists of the JOJO are usually referred as JOFOE, Dio is the JOFOE for Jonathan.
I have not once heard JOFOE. I'm not sure if thats a common fan term
@@zacharyfewins8087 it's really common but it's actually really possible that you haven't heard of it cuz people don't use it that anymore but usually in alot of Events & JJBA Themed Festivals people use both terms JOBRO & JOFOE quite often, even during certain Real Time Character Polls in Japan the term JOFOE was used but I myself don't use the term as much as I use JOBRO.
Or you could just let him figure this out himself but i guess spelling everything out is cool too
I know this is 4 months ago, but I agree 100%
The 1st time watch should be in Japanese, especially cause of the localization later in the series to avoid copyright issues...
Phantom Blood is honestly still my favourite part just because of the incredibly fast pacing its got no other part comes close to competing in that regard, it gets so much done in just these first three episodes its incredible. I really like Jojo reactors who take the time to stop and analyse stuff so I'm definitely enjoying the pausing. Also there was actually a post credits scene in episode 3, it doesn't happen too often, the only other ones I remember off the top of my head is at the end of Part 2 and one near the end of Part 3.
As an avid dub anime watcher i suggest you watch all of jojos bizzare adventure in sub, thats where the charm of the show comes from, in english it doesn't feel quite right
21:30 actually, in the manga, the first 5 pages is actually some aztec people using the mask, we only discover how the mask works together with the characters in the anime
What I love about watching these reactions, especially this video in particular, is that you're legit dressing almost exactly as Dio will later in part 3. He has a skin tight black under shirt on that has somewhat of a turtleneck design going on but it's using thin fabric (like stretchy tshirt fabric), he has black fingernails, and blond hair that falls down on his face in parted spikey bangs with almost like a spikey mullet going on in the back. The exact thing you're wearing here.
So as a jojo fan watching this is hilarious
>Guy unintentionally coincidentally dresses exactly as dio starts watching jojo without knowing of the future reference he is accidentally making.
Absolutely priceless.
your videos are so entertaining to watch lol ive just gone down a rabbit hole of your videos (which honestly has just been jojo) and you are so cool! i really like how you analyse little things in the videos that ive never noticed before, really cool to see your perspective on each jojo episode! anyways, happy late birthday for october lol
you seem like a really fun and genuine person :)
Thank you so much
I'm gonna say what a thousand people have already said in the comments, but I'm really glad you got to experience Part 1 untainted by the internet perception. I was introduced to the anime back in like 2012-2013 when it was relatively new, and like, Part 1 and Part 2 are so integral to why I fell in love with Jojo that I find it hard to believe people feel the need to constantly diminish how well-written and fast-paced Part 1 actually is. The fact that it goes from a victorian-era murder-mystery plot to supernatural vampire thriller in the first 3 episodes is honestly so peak
Havent watched the video but you could definitely cosplay Dio if you wanted to
Edit: Also HAPPY BIRTHDAYYY
Maybe I will!! Thank you!!
actually he looks pretty much like Dio, and his bangs give Dio vibes, i think i'm gonna try something like that 🤔🤔
@@joaquinaguilera8254 do it!!!
Nooo you missed the after credits scene in episode 3!!! There is always an after credits scene if you don't see "to be continued".
happy birth day man keep going
"Can Speedwagon stay? I already kinda like Speedwagon."
Ah, so he already thinks like a Jojo fan.
Also, happy birthday!
there is an aftercredit scene in episode 3
I saw someone mention the colour change is for the mood change of the scene but I’m pretty sure it is also a reference to the jojo manga covers that would constantly have different colours of the characters on them, most of the time leaving characters with no “canon colours” besides things that are directly said by the author or by one of the characters, and of course the anime colours which people use as the “canon colours”
i used to say that the first part was slow, but after watching it a few times i realized it's actually the opposite, it's so rushed and fast, but i think we meant it's not as "entertaining" as the next parts maybe, but everyone has their own likings. I had to watch it twice and with a friend bc i tried watching it years ago but couldn't get past the 4th episode, and now it's my fave show
also, i bet no one ever guesses that this show is about zombie vampires before watching it, i never knew lol
Just a heads up: whenever there is not a “to be continued” sign at the end of an episode, that means that there is a post-credits scene after the outro.
Happy birthday 🎉🎉 thanks for the jojo ep ❤
I know some people mentioned the color already, but Araki (The person who wrote the manga for Jojo's) Explicitly has no color scheme for his characters, they change due to emotion, which of course, they have fixed color schemes for characters in the anime, but they still change it often to reflect this!
Love watching people go through this series for the first time! Subscribed, and I'm so hyped to watch your journey!
I'm so glad I found you in my recommended you're such a great TH-camr
"Dio just gonna fuck around and find out" 😂😂
Its great youre enjoying part 1! I do really enjoy these first episodes for sure, I’ve not seen the rest in a while so maybe its better than I remember but i think all jojo is great tbh.
Some people like the later parts for a specific reason but you’ll see that when you get to it!
Also happy birthday!
You won’t ever see this cause Im hella late, but the color changes are actually references to Araki’s own work. In the manga, Araki never made any of JoJo’s colors cannon because he wanted the freedom to paint it however he wanted. The colors changing are actually a reference to the many different artistries Araki has made of his own manga, where the coloring is often inconsistent.
I love that you like the first season so much! If you want my opinion about sub vs dub i this that the dub is good.. to a degree. With Araki he likes to put western media and pop culture references into his manga and with the dub its mostly censored out due to copyright while the sub stays true to it. Personally i think that sub is the way to go BUT if you have to dub will work. Btw happy birthday!!!
he uploaded again!
how did a 40 minute video feel so short? you gotta continue man, this is great
I felt the same way with the episodes man xD
@@Mattables I'm definitely gonna be counting down days until Thursday every week. I watched jojo like 6 years ago and read part 6 before the anime adaptation came out. It's a great series to become obsessed with
its techincally supposed to be released on Tuesday, but the copyright battles lasts for awhile xD. I upload them on record day to patreon on Monday nights. @@kortex5130
I'm so excited you like jojos!! I can't wait for your reaction on other episodes
There was an after-credits scene.
Oh yeah David Production love to mess with colour schemes. Hell, they did a great job with the adaptation in general.
all jojos have conviction on justice, that's why the harder u hit them, tougher they gets
I have a friend, to whom I suggested to watch jojo together(I've already watched it subbed) and he watched everything dubbed, but after we watched all of jojo, he never went back to watching anime dubbed, so yeah in my opinion part of jojo's magnificence is their original voice actors :)
they say 1st season is the slower because it does not have really weird concepts, but it actually is the shortest one (just phantom blood, not battle tendency). btw, happy birthweek
glad you're enjoying it! have a happy birthday, man!
Birthday?! Congrats! :DDD
So glad you're enjoying it! I really like the first part. The second is my favorite. imho the only place jojos drags is a bit in the middle of season 3. a bit too much villain of the week, but still amazing. Everything else is pure peak hype.
Happy birthday! I hope you have a great birthday where you can spend times with the ones you love!
Happy Birthday Week. I’m very happy to see you enjoying my favorite anime.
You are gonna LOVE Joseph! I'm just waiting for you to meet him!
Happy birthday!! I enjoy your reactions!
i personally really recommend watching part 2 in dub like you said, it's honestly so much funnier and i think it's better but that's just my opinion. I LOOOOOOOVE Joseph VA in English, he's great!! if you watch any of the parts in dub it has to be part 2! i also like the dub for part 3 but definitely part 2!
DIO screams always top tier
Dude, I spent a couple weeks in a house of the family friend of my then best friend. They had like 3 floors a huge furnished basement and enough for their family, friends family, and me and I found that place creepy as hell because it was just so big and empty. Much less with weird artifacts that react to blood.
So the thing about colors and this anime, none of the characters were supposed to have a fleshed out and defined color palette. The author never wanted one, so that’s why they add random colors. It’s because he just likes color palettes
I've been waiting for this episode! I subscribed because of this :D
So fun, btw happy birthday
one of the best reactors, happy birthday ❤️
35:02 Yes! The JoJo fan base’s beloved waifu Speedwagon is going to stay for the rest of the Season because actually, the creator Araki himself knew that you were gonna ask for it!
(Not a real spoiler because he's just going to be standing besides JoJo to keep cheering him on 😂)
If i lived in a mansion and had a spooky mask, i will research the hell outta of it 😂 too
Happy birthday!! Glad to see you enjoying
If you wanna switch over when the accents stop, that’s part 3. If anything, part 2 leans even heavier into the accents.
Also happy early birthday
Thank you!!
@@Mattables no problem man, wish you the best.
It’s been a while since I’ve seen the first few episodes, and I guess they weren’t as slow as I remembered. However the reason people say it is slow is because it just gets crazier with every part as the writer keeps trying to out-do his previous work. So comparatively, this part is a lot slower than the other parts.
Happy birthday week!! also just strated rewatching JOJOs because for the love of jojos and watching your reactions of the openers and outros got me hyped!! also I like the drip
Oh, the weird accents are in part 2 as well unfortunately
Jojo Fun Fact! Jojos is like... the ORIGIN of so much anime stuff. If you like battle anime, then you have jojo's to thank for a lot of that.
YESSS, a speedwaifu enjoyer!!
happy birthday!!! i like that you liked Speedwagon, about the sub or dub: your content your choice, but an advice as someone who watched it both, you may miss things if you go dub, and the seiyuus do an amazing job
Oh btw episode 3 is one of the episodes that have an ending scene lol
I always said this 3 first eps are the best starting anime i've ever seen. But yeah, now it gets a little slow until Joseph arch
Jojo dub is not that bad but the sub is more iconic and has more memes than you can recognize . And they say actual english sentences in between of Japanese so that makes it even more hilarious to watch. I highly recommend the sub although its your choice
i'd be happy to watch your jojo long ass video every week XD
by the way, you DO look nice in this turtleneck and with your jewelry on 🖤 and happy birthday week!
As a new subscriber and binging your reactions, i can tell you're gonna appreciate season 1 more than others do. It is the weakest season of the 6 animated, but it's still great if you can break it down like you do.
Happy birthday! Enjoying your reactions
So exciting i cant wait for you to watch more!
HAPPY BIRTHDAAAY!!!!!!!!!!!🥳🥳🥳🥳, can't wait to see you reacting to jojo, hope you''ll have a happy birthday week🌻
Thank you so much!!
jojo has now become castlevania
Dio’s Japanese voice is iconic tbh
Also yeah the first episodes are definitely not slow lol I think ironically it gets more “slow” when they start the anime fighting bullshit lol. Cuz this dramatic storyline of the first few eps is quite engaging
Your reaction to the first episodes is pretty much mines towards part 1, I don't see a problem with the pace at all.
It gets better and better, trust :p
Dubs are good dpn't get me wrong, but the series is iconic with the subs.
i love your reactions!
Phantom Blood haters don't know what they're talking about. First part is great.
