I bought an Ascend 128X last fall and when I finally received it a month later via freight truck (Rona had the carrier hubs backed up), I inspected it and I came to realize every screw in all 3 round hatches were stripped from the factory. The gaskets underneath weren't even lined up and were mangled. Ascend get your QC together and fix that shit. I instantly replaced all 3 hatches with twist lock hatches using stainless screws with a washer and nut on the back of each. I also used marine silicone under the flange to seal it as well as under the screws. Works out because now it also gives me quick hull access which, I like. And yes (from your other video) my rear cargo area is slightly dished in the middle. I added thick foam blocks (like the black foam blocks that come in it factory) inside the hull under where it dishes to raise it up to where it should be and self drains.
I’m enjoying all these kayak mod videos. I just ordered an ascend 128x. It’s a brand new model and I haven’t seen any reviews on it so I’m almost worried.
Yea just make sure you don’t pre drill the holes in the neoprene, it’s better to drill straight through to create a better seal. Just reverse drill first then drill them in.
Hello, in the end, what happened with the kayak? Is everything going well? I plan to do the same as you. Do you think it's the best combination? Have you had any problems with the motor?
We no longer know anything about how your kayak is doing. Do you recommend that I do it the same as yours? Everything is going well because I like how you set it up. Please tell me something. Thank you.
Haha, I’ve been cutting a video for the past day and a half trying to make is as short as possible. Sunday I had a couple hour window to take it out and do a mini test. Should be uploading tonight. 🤪

Thanks! Yea hopefully it can give everyone insight on how to get a build going and what it takes.
128x nice! Didn’t know they released a new one!
I realized the same thing. It’s so new it hasn’t given anyone chance to “review” them yet lol or simple most don’t know about it.
I just got mine (128x) last month, haven’t got it wet yet.
I’m planning to pick up the same kayak soon. It’ll be my first kayak so I’m learning a lot from the vids. Subbed!!
It’s a great starter platform! I took it out today on the water with the outboard setup. Hopefully I can get the footage edited quick!!
@@thejuanderdude7911 Great! looking forward to the vid!
I like the speed clip idea..Good call
Nice tip, have been digging into mine alot lately, will order these now

Thank you
I replace that with old ascend twist hatch from 12t and then I marine silicone to complete the seal.
The speed clips alone are a necessary accessory by themselves!!!
Honestly should be included in all kayak applications from factory
I wanna go with a 4hp plan on getting it in a month or so
Yea after getting the 6 I would have gone with 4, good medium. Went with the 6 because local guy sold it nearly new for less then a 4.
@@thejuanderdude7911 damn good deal
