I'd love to know what your most used fountain pen inks are! Comment below to let me know!
I’m so glad I found your channel!! Your voice is so soothing and I was just searching for Noodler’s Ink videos and now binging your videos. Great work, really enjoying!!👍🤗❤️
Yay! Welcome! I'm glad you are enjoying the videos!
I like rainy stormy blues. I love the way you write.
Thank you so much!
I’ve bought a bottle of every color of Noodler’s waterproof ink during Black Friday. Can’t wait to get them all in
Lucky duck! I hope you enjoy them!
My most used is Fountain Pen Hospital's Noodler's Ellis Island blue black. I love this ink and always have it in one of my pens. I keep meaning to try one of their other exclusive inks from Noodler's maybe sometime.
Love seeing the ink comparisons. My favorite inks this year have been Noodler's Borealis Black and Diamine Oxblood. I love them so much in my pens.
I haven't used Oxblood in a pen yet but I have used Borealis Black and it is such a good dark black!
My most used fountain pen ink is probably Manyo Ume. I love Writer's Blood too, but Manyo Ume just hits the sweet spot for me for red inks. And then, on really good paper for sheens, it has a subtle golden sheen appear and that makes me even happier. Am probably going to finish a bottle of it this year, think I opened it in May. I use it all the time, am so in love with it!
Ooooooo that sounds like a gorgeous ink!
Dark Matter is such a stunning color!
I wholeheartedly agree!
Diamine Smoke on the Water and Colorverse Coffee Break are my current go to’s for inks in 2022.
Love the blue cast of roaring patina black!
It is rather striking!
Great comparison, thank you. I love your handwriting, mine is terrible but I’m trying to clean it up.
Thank you! My handwriting has changed through the years and keeps developing little quirks based on what I'm using writing for the most at the time. I have changed the way I cross "T"s" and dot "i's" depending on how fast I need to write for extended times! Developing handwriting naturally or based on current need is so fascinating!
I'm loving Noodler's USS Texas. A blackish teal. I think you introduced me to it on your channel. Dromgooles owes you a cut.
😆 I do love that ink! It is currently in my Monteverde Regatta pen.
I might need to get Dark Matter. I usually use Heart of Darkness, but I’m really diggin’ that kind of soot black look.
Rome is such a unique color ❤. It has been in my wishlist for a while now.
"Soot!" Oh my goodness but that is a good word for it!
Do it. I recently got it and love it in a medium nib. It's going to be constantly in rotation. If you turn up the volume on this video you will hear the noise it makes gliding across the page as well. It's a unique sound that I've only gotten with Noodler's ink. So far it's only been with 54th Massachusetts and Dark Matter. I love the sound it makes as well. I'm weird though haha
@@williamcatalano1762 The sound of the ink! Now I have another reason to obsess over it!
@@curatedavalon As if you needed one hahaha
@@williamcatalano1762 😆
Absolutely love "Rome Burning"! I hadn't used it in awhile, but recently had a Pilot 'Falcon" inked with it, and it quickly reminded me of how amazing this ink really is. Still haven't tried my FWP "Roaring Patina Black" ... really need to give that a go, soon!
Yes, you should try the Roaring Patina Black! I would love to know what you think!
@@curatedavalon 👍👍
A few new favourites for me this year have been: Sailor Manyo "Kikyou" - a nice steely grey-blue. Diamine Inkvent "Elf" - a solid green that's so well behaved and quick-drying it's always in at least one of my pens. Diamine "Ancient Copper" - actually a dark red that shades beautifully.
Those all sound neat! I have so many on my need to try list now!
Hi Logan, my most use ink is something very simple, Parker Quink black but this ink became one of my favorites instantly make any nib so smooth. Thanks for sharing, i've enjoyng every single video, greetings from São Paulo, Brazil!!!😁
Love an ink that will give a smooth writing experience! Thank you for watching the channel! I really appreciate it!❤️
I'll never not recommend Monteverde Horizon Blue for someone looking for a true intense blue: good shading & subtle sheen, flows well, dries in good time, its my favorite blue bar none. God bless you Curated Avalon!
I haven't tried that one! Thank you ❤️ God Bless!
I second this one! It's a great blue.
For a "bulletproof" blue, I enjoy Noodler's Bad Blue Heron.
@@FrankDAgostino77 ooooo I haven't tried the Bad Blue Heron yet either!
Yup, Horizon Blue is the best blue.
@@MarysInks Ah, I really need to try it!
LOVED THIS, I MUST TRY THE NOODLERS BLACK MOCASSIN
I'm glad you loved the video! Thank you so much!!!
Nice cool colors. For Blue, try the incredible Rohrer & Klingner Verdigris and Monteverde Blue Velvet Cake, or Ferris Wheel Stroke of Midnight, and finally J. Herbin Bleu Des Profondeurs.
Good to know!
FWP Roaring Patina got me back into pen and ink, and I have yet to see it in person. I purchased 2 bottles from a stationer in my hometown but am only traveling there in May!! 🤣
That Roaring Patina Black is so incredible.
You can add a bit of black to your blue ink to make it darker. I do it all the time to make a color more what I was hoping for. My current favorites are sailor 123, 223 and troublemaker petrichor.
I should probably give it a go!
If you like the crimson of Diamine Writer's Blood, you should give Montegrappa's Gryffindor Red a try. Absolutely the best red I've seen! Easy to clean out of a fountain pen, too! Also, thanks for showing off Bad Black Moccasin! I'm planning to pick some up, now!
I've been skeptical of the Harry Potter inks. Now that I know they are worth a shot, I'll ad to my wishlist!
My favorite blue is actually mixing liberty Elysium and lexington grey. You get a lovely deep blue with brighter blue shading.
I always have writers blood inked up as well!! I bought it for the name and absolutely fell in love with the color. One of the few i own multiple bottles off.
I have Noodlers La rein mauve almost always inked this year which was a surprise for me as im not a huge purple fan but it just hits the mark somehow.
Im definitely gonna have to check out Raven and dark matter. My most used black is Heart of Darkness. Something about it just makes me smile when i see that ink on the page.
Im coming to learn the fun ink names as well as the color seems to really grab my heart hahahah.
Mixing the two colors! What a fantastic idea! Heart of Darkness is a gorgeous black. I have a sample of it and need to use it!
@@curatedavalon ive found mixing (accidentally when i thought id cleaned my pen and i had not) writers blood and heart of darkness gives a really awesome black with undercover purple tones. :).
HOD and Lexington grey get along with a surprising amount of normal inks so you can create some fun shades, and add a dash of permanence to regular inks too. :)
@@lindseyB_33 Very cool, and good to know! Thanks!
Haven't heard Bay State Blue mentioned, and curious if you will be trying? I love this ink, both color and properties, but selective about which pens I use it in. (Currently, a Majohn A1 Capless is serving wonderfully).
I quite favor the permanent (and sometimes) archival qualities many Noodler's inks have, and uplifted to see you continually review and use them despite their (undeserved) bad press.
Enjoyable and informative video - great job! Recently discovered your channel and appreciate your fresh perspective, please keep the vids coming!
Thank you! ☺️ I will have to add Baystate to my list!
My most used inks are:
Noodler's X Feather black, Black swan in Australian roses, and LA Coulour Royale.
Waterman's Inspired Blue and Harmonious green.
Sheaffer blue scrip, and Platinum blue-black. Also Parker black Quink.
What a gorgeous list! I haven't tried some of these yet and some have been on my list to try!
I forgot to add J. Herbin Emerald of Chivor, Lie de The, and Vert Atlantide. Emerald of Chivor has a gold flake shimmer, and Vert Atlantide has both gold and silver
@@mikeerler5465 I have tried Lie de The and liked it! I need to fill a pen with it soon!
now you have me thinking
😀 Hopefully that's a good thing! 😆
My most used ink is probably Diamine Oxford. My favorite black ink is Diamine Onyx. I just subscribed to your channel. Your content is great.
I'll have to add those to my list to try! Thanks so much for subscribing! I'm glad you like the channel! ❤️
For a more intense blue take a look at Soda Pop Blue by Robert Oster. I've never tried it but it pops and looks awesome. Kind of reminds me of a bit of Iroshizuku Kon Peki if that is the kind of blue you are going for.
Will check it out! 👍
@@curatedavalon 🙂
Have you ever tried Noodler's 1984? It made me fall in love with purple ink. Lovely dusty purple that flows obscenely well in my Retro 51 Tornado.
I'd say my most used this year have by far been 1984 and Visconti Green. Although Baystate Blue is a super close runner up after I got over my fear of that ink.
I haven't tried 1984 yet but I do have it! It will be in an upcoming video!
I am careful with using my Bad Black Moccasin in my Parker Jotter (Bond Street Black) as its extreme ink properties, and the darkest black I have. Fav this year has to go to Blue Upon the Plains of Abraham from Noodler's, unfortunately discontinued in its second line. Now onto the fav ink for 2023.
I only have a sample of that ink! Upon the Plains of Abraham is such a pretty color.
How about Pelikan inks? Or even Pilot iroshizuku ink? Robert Oyster fine Australian ink? Akkermann’s ink? Diamine is great but there so much out there to explore. Thanks for the video I used Lamy, Pelikan and Diamine I prefer Pelikan ink but I will use other types too I love ink and fountain pens
If I had the money I'd give them all a whirl! It's a pity fun hobbies get pricey!
Wow, yet another vote for Dark Matter. I have yet to figure out it's special characteristics, though I'm still trying.
Well so far between use and comments people like how it dries quickly, they like the actual color of the black, the inks sounds lovely when be written with, and from Noodler's website thr ink is forge and water resistant. I guess it's just a favorite of some!
I agree with you re Dark Matter. I’ve neit found a pen that didn’t like it. Works in dry writers as well as wet writers. I use it, as well as Noodler’s black. Noodler’s Antietam is another good one I use. I am also a fan of Lamy black and blue.
Mine are Diamine Syrah and Diamine Ancient Copper.
Those are gorgeous inks!
Do you have flow issues when you use Liberty’s Elysium? I’ve tried it in two pens and it completely dries out and stops working. I used the pens daily and I can’t figure out the issue. I’m not sure if this matters but I use fine nibs.
I have only had issues with a Lamy Al-Star. The pen just dried out one day. I haven't had issues in any other pen. So I figured it wasn't capped well or something. It was a fine nib as well. I didn't use this pen daily.
@@curatedavalon thank you! The pens I used were a LAMY Safari and Esterbrook Estie. I’ll try it in one more pen and see what happens.
Do you use 52 gsm Sanzen tomoe river paper?
This is the older Tomoe River Paper in 52gsm.
I found Raven black because of you and bought four bottles once I found out it’s no longer produced
I'm glad you found the ink! That's terrible they don't make it any longer! It's such an amazing ink!
@@curatedavalon pretty sure I bought the last two bottles last night, 540ml should last a bit
@@Lognamackya I kept meaning to grab another bottle! Pity I got ink on my label. Good thing you grabbed it before it was gone!
I have been using Dark Matter more and more. It has grown on me :)
By the way what is that pen you are using?
I love how your top inks are all black. Most people avoid black ink like the plague. You should check out Mountain of Ink. She is doing a series on black inks. I have a gallon size bottle of Heart of Darkness if you need any. ; )
Oooooo I'll have to check it out! I do like Heart of Darkness, such a good ink!
bruh your channel is making me want to get a fountain pen
Fountain Pens are a neat way to customize a writing experience! Different inks, different pens so many choices. They even make disposable fountain pens!
Do a 2024 update!
Have you tried going over dried Rome with plain water? Magic happens.
Yes! It is so neat what you can do with that ink! It's crazy to see the purple and yellow. How it makes that gold color is astounding to me!
Rome Burning is quite a burn to the Empire...
Mam please paste clear cellophane tape over the label once you receive the ink bottle that way your label wliu be the same even after few years even some spillage will not effect the beauty of the label I am a collector of empty ink bottles and labels thanks god bless
What a great suggestion! Thanks so much!
Wow. Great idea!! Thank you
Two and a half minutes of my life wasted. "Why do I love this ink? I just do." What a load of crap.
Lol, my previous videos explain more of why I like this ink. The "I just do" was more of a joke.
