    Nice video, beautiful workshop.
    I had long ago forgotten that trick to tying off the anchor to retrieve it when stuck, thanks!

    We have a Winner!!! I think you have the most toys and a float tube anchor. Former U.S. Navy I appreciate your proper terminology too. Bravo-Zulu!!

    Nice work I found a dog leash that many of the goofball pet owners in the neighborhood now use (no longer is a dog leash a rope and a clip). The new dog leash is a coated stainless cable and a button that retracts the cable into the plastic handle. Still need to lift the anchor by hand then retract the cable, but its small simple and easy. The anchor is a mesh bag with a rock or two from the area, or most of the time I will find something to clip to. Works well. Thank for your videos, the float tube is the best way to fish. Easy, quick, light I also have the 'Cumbersome' (and a couple others too). It is a fun tube with tons of room, but when compared to the Cad yellow tube the Cumbersome is a slug. Again thanks for your time posting it is appreciated.

    I made a bag out of hardware screen(nylon mesh) door mesh. about 8x16 with a loop on the top on both side of the bag. I clip a Polyrope to this with a SS carabiner. Drop it over ths side and tie it off to a niteize figure 9. It works. Just have to pick up a few pounds of rock and put them in the bag. when I am done I dump the rocks and have to only carry af few oz of weight. I use a pontoon boat.

    A long retractable dog leash or laundry hanging system will automatically pull in your line for you instead of having to spool it manually. It will also take up less space.

    I use a 3 lb window weight and drop it and tie a loop on a carabiner on tube. works to perfection. weight stores in one of side pockets

    Surely if you anchor to the side you will rotate to the side. A rear fixing would be much better ?

    Mike, great video than you! I had a question. A buddy of mine told me that you need at least 3' of chain on the anchor for it to lay down in heavy current conditions. At first I thought he was joking, but I still don't believe it. What has been your experience? I've had a float tube for many years without an anchor, but like yourself, I am getting older and if I get tired I want the opportunity to stop out on the water via an anchor. Thanks!

    Would anchors work on floats if your using it in a bay!? When I took a skiff out the anchor was just being dragged around

    on paracord you can mark it every 3 ft with a knot..or a felt pen.... depth finder

      the 3 months of bad ice fishing is something we say here in Michigan because our summers are so short and winters so long. I've lived here all my life and I've seen snow in October November December January February March and April. I think we average 75 inches of snow a year.

    Hey Mike, I have looked at the Cumberland Float trying to decide if I want a kayak of float tube. A comment was posted on another site with a guy weighing 305 lbs, and having no problem with this tube. I am 6'4" and weigh 275 lbs. I am in my mid 50's and am interested in your set up. How did the tube work for you last year? I will look at your other videos, maybe they will answer my question and concern. Thanks for the anchoring idea. Danny Mc.

    • @mikehedden5997
      @mikehedden5997  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hey, Tommy. Thanks for taking time to leave the comment. Float tubes are for taking life easy. If you can kick out and set an anchor, life is good. If the wind comes up while you're out there, then you have to bust a gut to get you back home. The float tube can handle you, so no problem there. I love the float tube, but there are times I really want a kayak. Don't know if that helps, but it's all I have to give. Thanks again and all the best.

    Just bought my float tube (Caddis Sports Nevada - What do you think of it?), and watched a couple of your videos to get me started. Great vids! Keep up the good work on your channel. I already subscribed. Thanks!

      Hey, Juan, thanks for taking time to leave the comment. A friend of mine owns the caddis and loves it. I own caddis waders and love them. Can't go wrong with caddis, but floating around on a tube with a fishing rod, it doesn't matter what belly boat you own. Thanks again and all the best
