I wasn't familiar with Sam Chatmon however once I saw his face, I knew this was going to be good. You can just tell by looking at him that he has lived life and has some amazing stories to tell through song. Good stuff right here!

I don't know how old he was when these songs were recorded but he's got a brilliant voice!
he was 81, closer to 82. he would die a month after his 86th birthday. beautiful voice and a sharp mind to remember all those tunes.

Did this guy possibly change his name from Aaron McCall at some point? I'm sure this is him.
There's an interview on you tube where he talks about his father getting the name chatmon from a slave master ,it's interesting to hear
