Tom Landry mad

Probably the only known instance of Tom Landry showing emotion or anger on camera by calling (presumably) a player a "dumb-head" during a game against the Los Angeles Rams on January 4, 1976.

When I saw this title, I said outloud "I didn't know Tom Landry could get mad." He was always a class act.

Mr. Landry was about as evil as they come with that "dumb head" comment. Just being funny. When my brother and I were watching a Cowboys game, they replayed the moment when Landry jumped up in excitement which was also a rare thing to see. I still remember seeing that image so many years ago.

Dumb head? A very restrained response. Anyone else (John Madden) would have used much stronger language.

I recall that. They made a big play and showed Landry and you could see about an inch of clear air between his coaching shoes and the turf but from waist up he was like stone. Seems like he did have an excited look on his face. I doubt he could coach today now that they have outlawed coaches wearing sport coats. He was something else.

That's the point. The "dumb head" comment was very mild. But, it has been said that Landry was notoriously distant from his players and would ride them hard behind the scenes. Jimmy is a grade A alpha crazy person who has an angry streak.
