Yeah, I usually have really small containers but this time around space wasn't a huge issue, since I used 4 panniers instead of two. So I went with a normal size tooth paste.
Härligt att ha med en stor burk starkcider! Då blir man mjuk och avslappnad i kroppen utan att stretcha efter en lång dag i sadeln 😉 Tack för alla fina, inspirerande och välgjorda filmer du delar med oss! De uppskattas! 😀🚵♂🏕
Tjena, lots of new toys. I hope you used the drone lots and the head net a little. Can’t wait to see the upcoming videos, and especially Vilhelmina. I can’t believe you didn’t take any cheese in a tube, we camped at the weekend and our friends took some!
Just came back from a week of camping with the family and was a bit tired of the cheese I must admit. Hate to let you down, but I didn't film super much from Vilhelmina. When I started I was to eager to get going, and when I got back I was too tired. But I did film some scenes from the centre and from the train station, where I had parked my car when I was cycling. Free parking for 5 days! I was scared that I would have gotten a lot of tickets when I got back, but I got away without getting even one.
Nice though out kit Mike. Be sure to take extra bags for the Sawyer. They can be bad about splitting open. I learned that the hard way. Lol I look forward to seeing your adventure and the drone will be cool. Keep the shiney side up. Atb, Tony
Thanks for the heads up Tony! Luckily the Sawyer fits our standard soda bottles here in Sweden, so if the bag was to break I could just head to the nearest gas station. But fortunately it held up.
Hi Mike, really useful video for all us willing to embark ourselves on the bike touring world. It would be nice also if you could include a comprehensive list of your gear on the description of the video. I'm extremely eager to check out your next videos about "Vildmarksvägen" since I'm planning to take that road next year.
I'll try to add a list in a couple of days. Quite busy editing the other video at them moment. I'll post here when it's done. Good choice of a tour, you definitely won't regret going there.
Congrats on the drone. I also carry a dirty laundry bag so I don't have to mix clean with dirty. Looks like you have your system down pat. Thanks for the video. Can't wait for the next one. Take care and stay safe, Al
Glad you find them useful. I try to make one for each of my tours (longer than a couple of days), since my setup varies depening on the lenght of the tour, time of year and where I'm going.
i like the little bags you have, i will have to get some as they would solve problems of my panniers becoming a mess and having to dig everything out to find things.
They really are helpful. Especially if you find ones in different colors. It's a bit difficult to fins things in the panniers when it's bright outside and everything is black inside of the pannier. But it you spice it up with different colors everything becomes a bit easier to find.
Bike Touring Mike I often go touring with a mate and sometimes we stop to make coffee. And he will have his water boiling before I have even found all the stuff I need in my panniers. So it’s about time I improved my packing.
I'm subscribed & catching up on your videos. After a US coast to coast trip I plan to check out Scandinavia. Your videos 📼 are helpful. Thanks & be safe. 👍☮️🌞🦠😷🚲
Great start too a Saturday morning the Leafs win in OT and you've got a drone! Look out should be a killer next couple of weeks...looking forward to fallowing along, safe travels Mike...🎥👍👋🇨🇦
I certainly did. Just came back and it was a fantastic trip. Now I just have a lot of editing to take care of. First video is already done and will go live Friday at 12 PM ET/6 PM CET
As for mosquitos, the organism gets accustomed to them after few days, and you don't feel bites like local people. I bring some repellent like "Off" and essential oil creme like "Dr. Mom" against bites. Why do you need to filter natural water? We always get it from springs, as the last resort from a creek and boil it.
Nice load out Mike , the drone will add another dimension to an already great channel . dont want to be a downer but I ditched my sawyer for the katadyn filter as it way quicker at filtering lol atb Dave
Now that I've tried it out for a couple of times I can agree with you, it takes a bit of time. But I think i can live with it. It took me about 4-5 minutes to go through the whole procedure of filling up two 750 ml bottles. Notice the Kopparberg Dave?
The only two items that I would upgrade from your things are your bike pump: Topeak makes excellent road to Mountain Bike pumps (Morph series) which are much more durable and can be attached to your bike frame with their pump bracket mount to be installed behind the water bottle bosses, and your sleeping pad; Klymit (which comes in two sizes; regular and V-Luxe (wider pad)) it is more compact and weighs under 2lbs. Everything else is somewhat similar to what I have also. Happy Bike Touring; Adventure in, Traveling, Camping, Sight seeing, and Cycling all in one. Who could ask for more? :) Where's your camping stove?
I came back to this video to get the name brand of the Tent, so I can order now for the post-COVID future. For now, I can practice in the living room >:}
Unfortunately I didn't film how I packed the gear into the panniers this time around. I try to mix things up each time I do one of these gear list videos. I will definitely show that the next time I do one of these. But you can check out this video if you want to see how a pack a similar setup: th-cam.com/video/vKH-azVLmNw/w-d-xo.html
I'm sure that you took essential repair tools, a spare tube, some patches? I was hoping you would list your essential repair gear because I'm not sure what is considered a must-have and what you can leave behind? For example, on a long trip, would you take a chain repair tool? Chain lube?
Thank you Björn! They're called Ortlieb Back Roller Plus and they are great bags. I've done a review of them here: th-cam.com/video/a_NE7__BVFQ/w-d-xo.html I bought mine from Erlan.se, I don't know if anyone else sells them in Sweden but they should have them.
Hi Mike! Nice video again. Perhaps I missed it in the video, but do you know how much all your luggage weighs? A few days ago I weighed my luggage and I was astonished that I was carrying around 35kg. I really love the sneak preview of the Wilderness road! I think it's probably the nice road to cycle in Sweden.
Unfortunately I didn't weigh everything this time around. But when I go on longer tours my wieght usually lands around 20 kgs in the four panniers. I was carrying a lot more food this time though, so the weight might have been greater. Hope you will find the rest of the series to be interesting too. Day 2 was probably the most special day of bike touring I have done so far.
Hi Mike. Great content, and I am really looking forward to the videos from the trip! I have recently completed an eight day trip following the coastline og Sjælland in Denmark, cycling arround the island. A fantastic trip for the most part, especially following Østersøruten in the south part and Nordkyststien in the north. As you previously recommended, I completed the trip with a pair of Ortlieb back roller plus in the back and an Ortlieb ultimate 6 handlebarbag. Absolutely thrilled with the performance of all of them, thanks for the tip! I was just wondering where you found the collapsible backpack and which manufacturer it was made by. Also i would love to hear if you are happy with it. Thanks again. Kind regards Odin from Norway
Soory for the late response Odin. The backpack I had in this video is from Decathlon, and I am very pleased with it. I've previously had another one from Sea to Summit, but that one was a bit pricier. I think this one from Decathlon costs about 10 Euro. Although I didn't have to use it one single time during this trip, since I had pretty decent amount of space avaliable in my panniers. But on other tours I have done, such as the one in Provence it was nice to have an extra bag with me.
I don't know the exact model, but the brand is called Northwave. They are almost like normal tennis shoes, but with a little more stiff sole on the under side. And with Spd cleats. I'm sure there are many shoes that are better than these ones, but I like that they look like your average shoe, rather than a specific cycling shoe.
great video as always, thank you!! do you have a video where you review your gear - I'd love to know how happy you are with the Sea to Summit COMFORT PLUS SELF INFLATING Sleeping Pad, I'm thinking of purchasing it, since I trust your experience and it seems to be in my budget. Thank you so much :) Edit - Oh I think you have the insulated pad and not the self inflated one, right?
I have the Sea To Summit Comfort Plus Insulated Pad. It's like you mention not the self inflated one, so I can't really speak about that one. But I'm very happy with the one I have. Takes about 20 sec to inflate and self deflates in a second. And it's perfect for the colder conditions that we sometimes have here in the north.
Hi Mike, I know this video was made a couple of years ago, but can you advise how long your tour lasted? I'm trying to determine what to bring on a tour lasting 2 to 3 weeks. ( Summer UK).
Hi Mike a good tooth paste i use is a tooth powder comes in a plastic small container saves a lot of room.
Yeah, I usually have really small containers but this time around space wasn't a huge issue, since I used 4 panniers instead of two. So I went with a normal size tooth paste.

I can see from your preview that this video will be your best yet. Thanks for sharing the gear. Always interested in what folks take on a tour.

Great closing Mike! ...hope you have a wonderful trip, stay safe.
Thank you for all your great videos all the best all ways kg
Have a great trip! Thanks for letting us come along.
Glad to be able to share the trip with you!
Bike Touring Mike by way, please don’t work about pronouncing j words like USA does. Your way is charming. I miss the sound of Swedish/English 🙂

yes they are useful. My kids bought me the Ortlieb ones for my birthday. they stack nicely into the panniers.
ianmatlock1 i will have to make do with cheaper bags to do the same job.
@@fenman150 Ha Ha indeed. I wouldn't have bought them fo myself as I have some similar things already that we use when travelling.

2 bottles of red wine 🤣👍 Have a great trip!
To my defense they were really small. 😀
quite an editing job here. thanks for your efforts. and the youtube ad didn't manage to detract from the great outro.
Thank you David. Yeah, I saw they unfortunately placed an add just where I didn't want one. Just before the preview. I have removed the add now.
Tack för alla fina videos. Följer gärna med på en cykel tour när du kör med flera

good luck on your trip!
Thank you for your good advice.
Have a good one. Interesting video.
looks Epic Mike, can't wait!
The trip was great, escpecially the first couple of days. The last two days were unfortunately characterized by heavy rainfull and dull forest roads.
Good luck Mike, safe travel

No Systembolaget in the mountains. :-)

Bike Touring Mike yes I sure did , looked a slimmer can than the ones we get 👍
It's just a bit taller. That one is 500 ml. We have two different sizes of them, 330 and 500 ml.

It's a Naturehike Cloud Up 2. Sorry, forgot to add the list/links in the description. I'll get to it. In the meantime:

Sorry, no first aid kit. Justa couple of band-aids. I really know I should bring one with me but I keep forgetting to get one.

Great video. With your short hair couldn't soap be okay instead of packing shampoo, too.
You are not carrying much food really but I presume it is not for 5 days :D
