What a great interview, he’s so sharp I could listen to him all day! Real shame men like this are disappearing our country would be much better off if they were still around.
I love these vids of WW2 vets...they were standup guys, patriotic, incredibly brave without the hangups that are all too common these days. 🇺🇸👍 🥉
Waiting for the video where Roy talks about his time as a detective with the Los Angeles Police Department’s Administrative Vice Squad, after the war.
Yeah, they should follow up on that. I'd be really interested to hear about that.
I would have gone with _High Sierra_ given the choice. That's probably where Rockstar lifted the name from given they can't do anything that's not from old movies.
48:00 Marines impersonating sailors to get extra chow is the most Marine thing I've heard. Hearing this man's stories from the service makes me cherish my mischievous episodes w my buddies in the Corps.
The irony of Roy landing on "Roi"-Namur for his first combat experience. Great interview! Thanks.
This is awesome!
Thank you Roy for being such a great patriot with a sense of duty, that is all too uncommon today.
These men are a national treasure,my heart is sad that they are all leaving us, but as the old poem goes,"and when he goes to heaven,Saint Peter he will tell, another marine reporting sir I've served my time in hell."
I think I'm going to check myself out with them, soon. America isn't for me. I dont recognize it anymore. I'd rather pass away with these great men.
Please Have This Guy Back On Again, Just To Check In On Him.! One Of The Best Interviews Ever.!!
4 landings ! Wow
I enjoyed this very much. Thank you.
Good man. Thanks for serving and enabling me to have a great life since '69.
A GREAT AMERICAN!
Great interview!
Very entertaining interview. I got a kick out all the laughs.
Fantastic life for a fantastic man!
My dad was on Iwo Jima, and he had _'a nose'_ for picking out other Marines. Once he found them, young or old, he would talk their ear off for hours if allowed the time (which was usually the case).
What a great interview this guy is such a live wire of history. Great light sense of humour 😂❤🎉.
Apparently it wasnt only Marines that a problem with the Red cross back then. My dad was with the Army in Normandy until he got hit and evacuated home. I asked him one time if he wanted to donate to the Red Cross in 2000. He told me that ther was no way that he would due to the way he and others were treated by them in 1944. He was typically a mild mannered humble man but that was a grudge he couldn't get over.
Thank you sir for my freedom and for sharing your story
Great interview/ storyteller!! I love his laugh-!!!!
Hello my name is Austin. i live in maui hawaii. I'm doing a documentary video about the 4th marine division at Camp Maui. theres a zipline tour and camp maui museum on a parcel of land at the top of where the camp used to be. I am making a video to be displayed in the museum. We've compiled photos from private collections and USMC national archives. and Video from university of South Carolina and National Archives (NARA) . I wanted to ask your permission to use some of your interview to go with the video. there's footage from April of 1945 when the 23rd and 24th regiment arrives to maui, that goes along with his story talking about Kahului docks and salvation army. let me know if thats possible , mahalo and thank you.
Shame that he shares a name with one of the shittiest fictional characters depicting his generation. Just because it's a name used in old movies.
This man is a gem. What a wonderful person.
Whay a great man. Starts it right off wiith a joke.
i wish kids were like this today
God Bless and thank you!
