At 58 I have to agree. My first dial up was 2400k baud on BBSes before the 'net and .GIF format for images was standard before .jpg - took forever to download a single photo back then. Feels like technology has far-exceeded my brain these days.
@@Kislotikas I think of all the money we spent back in the day upgrading modems almost every year...doubling the speed each time. We had a 2400k, 9600k, 14.4USRobotics and ended with a 28.8 before we finally switched to cable internet.

I am watching this on a 1080P monitor and it looks crisp and clear, so this is what a 1080P image is capable of looking like meaning that what we normally get is a long way short of what HD is obviously capable of.
It's all about the aliasing of the image. Plus the fact that on youtube and most streaming sites they have a low bitrate. If you were to download a 10gb 1080p video it would looks very crisp too but on youtube an hours worth of footage is under 1gb.
Basically it looks like where were supposed to be with 1080p as they had shown us when HDTV was first introduced because since then everything got watered down where HDTV looked like shit compared to the first demos
1:11 the cats backside (lol) is blurred. this shows us that as far as we have come, we have a lot further to go, before we can duplicate reality, at least in visual terms. amazing stuff but, best we have seen yet
this is what 1080i looked like when demo reels were first put out uncompressed. you could see grains of sand on beach footage. now they compress everything to oblivion

Once you start getting into photography you realise very quickly that no matter how advanced the phones get and yes they are getting incredible they will never be able to equal a proper camera. The reason is sensor and lenses sizes it matters a LOT in photography and phones just don't have the room to contain these things. So what they do instead is use very advanced software to fake most of the effects from a proper camera. So there is a very real ceiling to the quality.
@@DagHolmen The industry doesn't hinge on them inventing new physics phone cameras have long surpassed what users are happy with. More likely they will move onto a new area of the phone development to fight over progress on.

@@BB_S Ok. Even if this video lived up to what the title suggests, the number of pixels it had should've corresponded with what my TV was indicating. It was only uploaded in a 4K format (2160p). If it was in 8K, my TV would have been indicating 4320p. There are no 12K TV's available to the public. Even if there were, the highest resolution that TH-cam can support is 2160p (4K); even if the video was recorded on a camera that could shoot recordings in 12K. Sony has developed a very large 16K screen in their Labs; which costs $5 Million by the way. 4K TV's are excellent and they're predominantly what's being sold; and will continue to do so for quite awhile. 8K TV's are an improvement but their prices are just too high right now for them to flood the market. The reason I choose to purchase one is because I'm big into home theater. I've invested a lot of money in it. This has been a hobby of mine for many years.

this is upscaled from 4K at the higher resolution. sometimes the picture drops below 60fps. it is poorly scaled, and there is no 12K or even 8K here

1080i is worse than 1080p. You're right about the compression though. All streaming services are stupidly low bitrate.

LOL, TH-cam doesn't support Dolby Vision... Just like it doesn't support ATMOS but there are plenty of "Demos" on the platform.
