When WINSTON CUP was the name of the series. Thank you for uploading these races. I enjoy it way more than what it has become.
High quality, good audio, classic cars, legendary track and drivers.... THIS is the sort of fan-interaction that NASCAR should be focused on more than anything else.
Not only does it keep "the history" alive, but it also makes a direct connection of "where we have been to where we are" that you just don't get in today's broadcasts.
I miss these old days of NASCAR! We will never see personalities or racing like this ever again. Been a fan since 1979.
I loved the stock car events when they had Husons and they dominated in the early 50's!.................
So glad iRacing has cleaned and scanned this track, not as good as having the real thing but still preserved in some way forever.
You do realize it wasn't iRacing that cleaned the track it was Earnhardt Jr who cleaned the track so iRacing could do their scan, I believe Jr is trying to revive North Wilkesboro.

North wilkesboro seems to be getting a lot of love here lately, maybe just maybe, NASCAR will see that, and see that there’s value in that

I would much rather watch these old races from the 80s and 90s than the current stuff. Having it in HD quality only makes it that much more desirable. These were the glory days of NASCAR. The drivers had unique and interesting personalities. The race cars looked awesome unlike the ridiculous things being raced these days. There was no chase/playoffs, no stage racing and no other silly gimmicks. It was better in every single way. NASCAR should keep the HANS, safer barriers and full containment seats, yet try to make everything else as close as possible to the way things were in the 80s and 90s. If that happened, the stands would be full and TV ratings would improve dramatically.

"Race to the yellow" at short-tracks was exciting but also incredibly dangerous. I stand with others though in asking NASCAR for a lot more of these classic races!
As someone who is from North Wilkesboro, and from a NASCAR/Racing family, I'd do anything to bring racing back here. With how the Next Gen looks, and the fact people want a return to NASCARs roots, I believe that coming back could be the best decision NASCAR can make. Lots of things could be falling into place at the right time. Maybe an experiment with Trucks here in 2021? And maybe Cup at a later date?

Maybe it won't become a cup series track because of the costs of installing safer barriers and what not, BUT it should be purchased by NASCAR and serve in lower tier series. Just clean it up, put up a couple sheds up for like a ticket booth/concesssions and add new grandstands. Nothing fancy. Just like a local track in decent shape.

2022 Dale Jr helped to get it reopened and actually ran in one of the races.

I was at this race. Sitting near the top row just above the finish line. I was amazed there was no pit wall between the crews and cars coming in. Most dangerous pit road I've ever seen. The half mile track I use to go to see local drivers actually had a pit wall. Cars were pulling in all different places and angles when they came in. It was amazing more people weren't hurt. RIP Bob Jenkins and Larry Nuber

The first race I went to at North Wilkesboro. I was sitting just to left of the start/finish line about 3/4 the way up. I was a big Dale Earnhardt fan. It was a great 15th Birthday.

I was there that day. My first race at North Wilkesboro. My aunt had bought me tickets for my birthday. Great seats near the top row near the start/finish line.

No matter how fox and nbc cover the races, this was the pinnacle of nascar on TV. I remember seeing races on CBS when I was young. I think we only saw three.
I realize the amount of work it would take to make this track viable again.... But it would be a Grand Slam Home Run if it were done right... I have watched it twice in the last 24 hours.... Amazing....
They need to do a throw back race. Racing 87’ cars in 2023. Same attire and all!

To think that track used to be on ESPN every year and, for many years, has sat idle and slowly fell apart after being left like a parental couple when their kids leave for college and then the big city. What a shame! Would love to see a promotional ad from NASCAR on TV someday with a epic voice-over saying, "This year, NASCAR...comes home."

Love this place... never even been there but wow do I love going back and watching these races. I would be there in a heart beat with a reopen. I would even be willing to donate a good lump sum of money (to me) for a campaign to bring it back.
It doesn’t matter if it isn’t cup anymore, just someone please #SaveTheSpeedway. Someone just weedwacked it, and it just needs a few buildings and grandstands remade. The track is fine.

I think a great race to upload would be the 1984 Daytona 500, which as far as I know, is the only Daytona 500 run since the race first went live start-to-finish in 1979 not to have surfaced in it's entirety (parts of the race from laps 100 to 155 are missing). I doubt that either of the two Daytona 500s won by cars owned by Junior Johnson, the 1969 and 1977 races (the telecast of which may not even exist) would be good ones to put up, since they were not aired in their entirety and the broadcast of the 1969 race is already up on more than one channel.
The one thing about that particular race is that, unlike almost any other Daytona 500, that race came down to a battle of titans, both in terms of drivers and teams, with no surprises. In fact, I happen to think that was the greatest Daytona 500 ever run, start-to-finish, yet it rarely even gets talked about among the better races at Daytona.

It sucks that I live less than an hour away but never got a chance to see a cup race here. I hope one day I can, I hope even more as a journalism student that I can call or report on a race here in my life.
