The concept of the rapture always terrified me as a kid and still disturbs me to this day. It felt cruel. Imagine all your loved ones floating away, leaving you to rot simply for believing differently than them, regardless of how kind you've been in life. Even when I truly believed that as a kid, there was an air of tragedy to it. I'd have nightmares about me being left behind, despite truly believing. Even now, I can't make myself hope for it or celebrate it. How could I celebrate when so many people get left behind?
Trauma dumping aside, this playlist captures this perfectly. The inclusion of "On the nature of daylight" is amazing ❤
Btw I don't want to offend anyone that believes it or anything. I'm not asking for a religious debate, just airing out some feelings that this playlist brought back out 😅
As someone whose also had dreams of being left behind and not being ready to meet Jesus, I will say that a verse that resonated with me a lot during those days (as a non-Christian) was Proverbs 9:10-12. I was afraid but I also longed for something to live for, heck, even give my life to. So, I put aside my own biases and told God that if he was real then I needed him to take control and to give me a purpose worth living. This was back in 2021. After I had those terrifying dreams and made that prayer, I can tell you with confidence my life has exponentially changed in a way that even harsh events don't make me feel sick. I've finally learned that there's a difference between church doctrine and what a self-proclaim christian might say, versus what the Word of God says and what My LORD Jesus of Nazareth has to say to me. I've been skeptical of many things, but after that prayer, I've seen a lot of things that made me to never doubt the existence of the supernatural and authority that the name of Jesus has over many things.
I myself can relate to your experience. It's frightening indeed, but, if it helps in any way, I would encourage you as a friend to try it out and to call out the name of Jesus and to ask Him to show you what life is actually about. Going to church and being around zealous religious people, yeah, sometimes that's part of the journey but most importantly it's your journey and not theirs. Now, I don't feel lost anymore. Sometimes things get tough, but at the same I feel so much peace that I even begin to cry because I'm unshaken from this world because I know that the unrighteous man that I have been, my LORD had mercy on me and gave me so much love and has shown me a new way to see the world. And my prayer is that those truly humble in heart, mind and soul will experience it too one day.
I pray that you find that peace you're looking for and that My LORD gives you the strength to overcome that trauma and for you to become a light for others.
@@Kevin-lw2gl Thanks for sharing that! It helps to hear that from another christian. In many religious groups, saying things like that is seen as blasphemous and is often looked down upon. Your story coming from your perspective is healing in a way. I don’t really know what to call myself, christian is the closest word to it, but I do want to pursue a journey with God. It’s just hard to tell what is what when other christians are screaming at each other about what is right and wrong. But I know God is above that.

I definitely understand its still a tough concept to swallow for me too. I always felt uneasy about living in heaven for eternity, i love earth. Even being told that as I kid, I hated the fact that id basically never die or live forever it just didnt sit right with me.
The Rapture is a misconception and a lie.
The Rapture is ultimately a misconception about the Second Coming of Jesus and a misinterpretation of Jesus' words about the end of the world.
It is a term that is used excessively by the Protestant Church and since it is in that aspect of Christianity that such an event is most widely spread, to give a complete analysis of the matter we would have to go into theological matters related to millennialism and its implications, not However, I will try to give a less technical touch and greater understanding so that we can understand the reality of this biblical misinterpretation.
This term Great Tribulation refers to the time of persecution that is denoted by Jesus' words about the end of the world. In this an allusion is made to the rapture, however before going further into this matter it is necessary to note that the term rapture for the Church means an annihilation, an ecstasy. Saint Teresa of Ávila defines it as: “rapture, ecstasy or rapture, which is all one in my opinion."
The allusion to a rapture in which Jesus will appear in heaven at the end of time invisibly to rapture the Church is totally false, Jesus Christ will come at the end of time but it will be a visible and glorious coming that no one will be able to ignore. It will be then that the final judgment will occur; The living and the dead will be taken from this world to the presence of the Lord. There will be no "secret rapture" before the end of the world.
Authentic Biblical interpretation does not accept novelties and the concept of the rapture was not known in Christianity until the 18th century.
How belief in the rapture begins: According to the research of Paul Thigpen, author of "The Rapture Trap", the doctrine of the rapture was born in the 18th century. A Puritan minister named Increase Mather wrote of Christians caught up in the air before the world was consumed by the fire of divine judgment. Later others published similar ideas.
A Chilean Jesuit named Manuel Lacunza, in his book The Coming of the Messiah in Glory and Majesty, published in 1812, speculates that the faithful who have received communion will often be, towards the end of the world, collected by Jesus Christ to keep them safe for 45 years. days while the world is punished. This book was translated into English and his ideas about the rapture had great influence among some groups of sectarian Christians.
Those who believe that the rapture will take place before the Great Tribulation of the Antichrist think that only the wicked will suffer that time of persecution.
Suffering has deep biblical meaning. The fact is that Christ suffered and his Mystical Body which is the Church has a continuous trajectory of suffering and persecution. But there will be a final chase that will be extraordinary, before the end. Christians cannot be waiting for a premature rapture but must be strengthening themselves to overcome the test.

I am not a person of Christian faith, no matter how I try, I cannot accept it. When I imagine the rapture and being left on this earth while my loved ones disappear, it makes tears come to my eyes - not only from the loneliness of my current spirit or the fear i'd have in that terrible moment, but because I am glad that in that moment I'd know at least they can be someplace together. anyway this is just what i thought about while listening to this

Since it says I need to have 100% faith in Jesus order to not be a sinner, who's to say that one of these branches of Christianity is fully aligned with the true teaching of either God or any of the Apostles?
If I devote all my faith to any apparently wrong branch and I still get punished like I never followed it in the first place, does it even matter.

Idk if anyone will see this but I just need to let this feeling out.
Im a Christian and after being lukewarm for so long I've finally felt close and devoted in my spiritual life. The only thing I lacked was "hearing" from God. The most important thing to me (after God ofc) is my future career, and I've been pleading and praying for about a year now for confirmation on this. I just feel so close to giving up, and theres so many doubts in my mind. Everyday in prayer and in the word. I prayed, I worshiped and still nothing. And I undertstand its a process and he's probably testing my faith. But at the expense of doubting him?
I just want answers and I dont know how much longer I can wait it out.

don’t stress out about hearing from god. he sees your faithfulness. his words are spirit and truth. jesus himself is the word made flesh. your discipline is admirable. i pray you have an encounter with his holy spirit that changes your life forever

Its not just about believing. Before Jesus, Hell, or perhaps Abraham's Bosom, were the only options for human spirits because of the curse. When Jesus came, he gave us a choice while maintaining our free will. Its like jumping off a plane with a parachute, you trust it. If you decide to jump without it, because you didn't want it, you will die. All you have to do is believe and love him, put on the parachute. He won't reject you.
