I hear you, I have also display boards "piling" up, including my own :-) It definitely has a gorgeous high resolution display. It would be a shame not using it for a project/gadget. Right now it is serving me as a weather forecast, attached to my USB hub for power. I am open for any suggestions 🙂Stay safe.
What an interesting display!! I've been getting interested in the Lilygo products involved in the Meshtastic series. I'm tossing around the idea of learning and using the Meshtastic communication system. Not yet sure I want to dive into just yet, but it sure does interest me!! Thanks for this review and I look forward to seeing your next video showing your add-on custom PCB board, and what you decided to do with it. Till Later my friend!!!
Thanks Adam. What a coincidence, was just looking into Meshtastic as well the other day, yesterday actually but I think it only works in the US. So I guess I am out. Till later, stay safe my friend.
The board looks amazing especially for the price. My biggest problem with it is the size though, at least for the applications I'd like to use something like this for the display is just plain too small and the resolution seems almost overkill.
It surely is a nice product. There are many different sized displays available, just need to check what will work best for your project. I agree 450x600 pixel is a lot, and I see the ESP32 S3 coming to it's limit with fast screen refresh. Again, it will depend on your needs and skills to make the most out of it. I still have not found a particular use for it, for now it is sitting on my desk till a light bulb in my head comes on to use it for something special :-)
I do not now as I did not try any video playback, but given that it has 450x600 pixels compared to 320x240 that do play video, I would assume it will not have the greatest framerate.
Hi Michael, I have not ordered the breakout board yet and need enough interest in it to make it financially feasible. This is where a Kickstarter like website would come in handy, but I am not allowed to create a funding project from Bulgaria, although they would greedily take my money to fund somebody else's project. If I do get enough people willing to buy the breakout board, I will order it and make another video showing it and giving the link to it.
@@iHayri1 Don't rush. I contacted Lilygo about the same thing. They say they will list a similar board, possibly, next week. That might really reduce your sales volume. But thanks for helping. What is really lacking is cases for these beauties. Of course, each use might be different so case design is a big problem.
@@elliottraymond3274 Due to not enough interest I have not ordered the PCB's but apparently LILYGO does offer a breakout board themselves, albeit I am not sure if it has the 30 pin connector on it, can't se it from their pictures.
Hello, I'm brand new to ESP32 and these kinds of displays but I wanted to see if it could work for my usecase? Can I make it connect to wifi, listen to a websocket server and then display that data on a GUI I create. I am currently using a raspberry pi with a 1.5" oled over I2C but this screen would be much better
I don't see why not, the ESP32 has WiFi and BLE, can connect to a websocket and surely display anything you want on the display. If you can use a Pi, you can learn how to use the ESP32.
Had my eye on this board because it looks so nice but already have so many that I’ll never use. It’s a great size and the best display so far.

nice! can it play videos from SD card at decent framerate?

I could not find that breadboard listing. Could you point me tto it, please? I like the T4 but need a case and that breadboard. Thanks.

I am also interested at the right price - for me if under $30 AUD delivered it would be worth it...
