If you love these, I’d also highly suggest A Certain Hunger by Chelsea G Summers! I read it along with Bunny & Boy Parts this year, and so far it’s my favorite of the sub-genre! Great video!
I couldn't love this video any more !!!! maybe I should be concerned that I love the theme of unhinged women so much.... I have read The Vegetarian and thought it was so incredible. I've also read Bunny, and have My Year Of Rest and Relaxation to get to one day. I think you did a beautiful job describing The Vegetarian
I think I read, or heard Moshfegh say somewhere that Rest & Relaxation was an allegory and somewhat satirization of the US just before 9/11 -- hence the end. She was worried it was too obvious but I've found most people don't even mention the end. Great dry writing, I loved the section about her mother.
omg that is so interesting i genuinely had no idea! i did wonder about the 9/11 so that makes total sense of it being a satire of that time rather than now - thank you so much for letting me know about this!
The vegetarian actually was the book reading sort of clicked for me, really started to obsessively read after that book, very intense one to kick of my love 😂
Since you’re an otessa moshfegh enjoyer as well, I suppose you would like Pizza Girl by Jean Kyoung Frazier! Also, I totally love reading about unhinged woman as well like yes they’re horrible characters but also interesting 🤣
Loved the video! Have you read ‘Drive Your Plow Over the Bones of the Dead’ by Olga Tokarczuk? It’s about the mysterious murders of hunters in a remote area in Poland, and the MC is an unreliable narrator.

loool same girl, and i agree - i didn't love the book as much as others did
Yes! Vegetarian is indeed dark. I love the quirkiness of the Vegetarian by Han Kang.

Side question, arebyou familiar with any graphic novel publishers in London or around those parts? I've heard of Self Made Hero but that's it.
i do live in london but unfortunately i'm not too familiar with graphic novel publishers - so sorry!😫
I love unhinged women but Grace Bernard SUCKS
loool I liked the premise/plot but I know what you mean, there were times she annoyed me
@@katerinareem me too, I really enjoyed the plot itself but Grace was so insufferable that I didn't care what happened to her, if that makes sense?
Amazing!
thank you !!
