Ever since the porygon episode was banned porygon never appeared again in the Pokémon anime and reason why it’s evolution porygon 2 and porygonZ are the only Pokémon that never have first appearance in Pokémon anime all because of pikachu.
when my grandpa was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in 2012, my mom used that episode of Arthur to tell me about it. I was 7 years old at the time and Arthur was one of my favorite shows, sad to see it was banned for so long when it really helped in my understanding

That’s so weird! I watched the episode in 2013 when I was six and my grandma was just diagnosed with cancer. I’m glad I’m not the only person who was positively impacted by that episode
I remember that episode where arthur favorite lunch lady McGrady who had cancer I'm didn't know that it was aired in the US but I'm didn't see the news of the banned episode and I'm didn't know that Lance Armstrong had a battle of cancer I'm never knew that but the episode important to make kids understand how you lose someone you love when deaths come I'm lost my father from sickness he was 63 like Donna Summer age on February 9 he died two months ago.
Considering how effectively Mr. Rodgers discussed such sensitive topics such as divorce and even assassination, how in the world do they ban those episodes?

After learning about the Simpsons episode "Stark Raving Dad" becoming banned from both DVD and Disney+, I can officially say that I will never let go of my original release copy of Season 3 on DVD until the day I die if it's now considered valuable.
Mr Rodgers tastefully tackled many hard topics that children need to learn about but most parents either didn't know how to address the subjects or thought kids didn't need to know about certain topics... considering the children were always affected by the circumstances, Mr Rodgers helped them deal with it when they experienced the hard times in their lives. I've got mad respect for him!

If any SpongeBob episode deserves to be banned, it’s One Coarse Meal. Suicide is a serious and sensitive issue to a lot of people, and I can’t believe that Nickelodeon had the Gaul to treat it like a joke.

You've probably seen this in the openings of shows like My Hero Academia, to make sure something like this incident never happens again.
Or...you know...they could just not have seizure induced flashing period. Like...does anime really need scenes showing bright lights flashing? I don't think so. They could easily just make normal scenes and just not use flashing lights period.
@@vgmaster02 It's not just the flashing that triggers seizures, the bright lights in particular are what tends to cause certain people to have them. Dimming down the brightness during action sequences (as well as those warnings not to sit too close to the TV) was probably the best solution. If a lot of stuff is happening really quickly all at once and the brightness is too high, it may produce a similar effect in people with photosensitive epilepsy. And no shit Sherlock, no one IS putting strobe effects in their shows anymore for those exact reasons, so congrats on contributing nothing to the discussion while trying way too hard to look smart. You sure showed us.
I was so upset that Stark Raving Dad was taken down. It's one of my favorite episodes of The Simpsons, Happy Birthday Lisa is just such a sweet gesture from Bart...its a shame it's been wiped from Simpsons history basically.

What makes it even more frustrating is that Leaving Neverland is quite possibly a fraudulent documentary. It contains multiple lies and the claims of the 2 men were thrown away by 2 different judges. Senseless ban in my opinion.
I understand why it was banned, but "The Encounter" is a very well-written episode of "The Twilight Zone" and George Takei and Neville Brand acted the hell out of their roles.

Sanitizing everything that makes us uncomfortable dooms us to repeat it over and over because we never question our actions by ignoring them. You didn't mention that the Pokemon incident happened in two waves. Japanese TV aired news reports showing the scene, and still more people went to the hospital. The episode is available now, but the colors of the explosion and the frequency of the flashing was drastically changed so it wouldn't trigger any ill effects.
I never expected that. Why? Because I expected them to have more sense that to play the clip in a way that would actually induce a seizure. And I am among those warned by my doctor to avoid flashing lights for this reason.
I remembered the great McGrady and a s a young cancer survivor( very young at the time) this episode was so helpful I showed it to all my friends so they could understand it a little better. I'm still upset about Lance Armstrong as I wore the livestrong bracelet for years. However, as far as a hero for cancer survivor still a great role model for young kids.

When I was probably about 10 years old, I thought flashing lights can get anybody seizures, but I guess I was kinda wrong since I learned that it's usually for people who have epilepsy. Since I was never affected by it.
I'd thought that whole thing was something Michael Crichton invented for the book THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN. Imagine what I thought when I found out it was real.
I remember when Wang Chung's music video was pulled because some people actually claimed (never proved) to have seizures from the flashing camera angles. It was pretty silly, but a lot of people were incredibly worked up about it, just because they wanted to be on the outraged bandwagon....

I refuse to let Mid-Life Crustacean's removal from any kind of digital streaming or viewing prevent me from every seeing it again if I ever want to. Thus why I bought the first three seasons of the show on DVD.
Theoretically they could edit Electric Soldier Porygon to remove the red and blue strobing lights. Instead they could edit it to show a large cloud of smoke as a result of the explosion. Sadly not only did they ban the episode but they banned the Pokémon Porygon from ever being allowed in the anime. Outside of a brief cameo in the movies Porygon has never been seen in the anime ever again after this episode, and it’s evolved forms Porygon2 and PorygonZ has never ever been seen in the anime period.

It’s sad that the original ‘The Great MacGrady’ was banned all because of the appearance of Lance Armstrong. So glad the show revised the episode without him.
Seeing that Baxter Stockman scene is amusing, considering how much else they got away with; the gradual mutilation of Stockman, as more and more body parts disappear; also, Shredder getting his head cut off - of course, the twist is that he is really an alien piloting the armour from inside the torso, but when the decapitation happened, this wasn't revealed, so it seemed like it was fatal, gruesome injury.
And Family Guy Episode! The Creators pulling The Simpsons episode was the worst thing that ever happened because it ruined my daily school routine of watching The Simpsons and Futurama at my break time. I had to find an alternative way to see it. Thanks a lot pullers.

yeah i remember reading about that pokemon episode, ever since porygon became one of my 5 favorite pokemon ever. it got banned for all episodes and it didnt give the thundershock.....poor thing
I do think it's worth noting that while 200 and 201 remain banned to this day, Trey and Matt still won in the end, because they VERY NEXT season was released under the pretense that "We don't see it until *YOU* see it". For that season, there was ZERO moderation for the show, and absolutely nothing Comedy Central could do about any content provided, since they were not allowed to pre-screen it. It was a 100% free pass. And yes, Comedy Central was REQUIRED to advertise this fact, and advertise it pretty much every commercial break of every show on the network, between the season's premier and finale. It was the single largest serving of crow the network has ever had to swallow. And they have NEVER since crossed Trey and Matt. They make the fucking show the way they want, no matter who likes it or not. Lesson learned.
Four other Pokémon episodes that were banned was the Kangaskhan episode in Japanese in season 1 original. Was banned because the kid in the episode asked for something inappropriate from Misty. The Milktank episode from Joto Journeys after Meowth and Cyndaquil restores HP. 😉 The third one I remember was also from Joto Journeys. It's when James dressed up as a woman and um... just think with your imagination as to what happened. The fourth episode was about Ash's Tauros in the Safari Zone season 1. Was banned because of to many guns in a kids show. Which is funny because the first time Ash's Pikachu gets hurt a store owner pulled a gun on Ash, because Team Rocket just robbed his store. Don't think that episode got pulled or censored. At least not the English version. -Younger Bro
Saw a good amount of those. The only one that should be banned is the Pikachu Shock. As soon as pokemon popped up I knew exactly what it was. That show is straight up dangerous. I somehow watched, u say it’s banned completely, idk how I saw it then but watching it even gave me a headache and hurt my eyes. That episode is no joke. Everything else is a joke and needs to let the shows writers play out.

That Family Guy episode was aired in the UK nearly a year later (not due to controversy it just used to take that long for it to make its way over here before the BBC lost the UK rights.)

When I was probably about 10 years old, I thought flashing lights can get anybody seizures, but I guess I was kinda wrong since I learned that it's usually for people who have epilepsy. Since I was never affected by it.
I'd thought that whole thing was something Michael Crichton invented for the book THE ANDROMEDA STRAIN. Imagine what I thought when I found out it was real.
I remember when Wang Chung's music video was pulled because some people actually claimed (never proved) to have seizures from the flashing camera angles. It was pretty silly, but a lot of people were incredibly worked up about it, just because they wanted to be on the outraged bandwagon....

As a hard core LGBT+ supporting progressive, I bust a gut laughing when they burst in and started eating carpet. Me too!
Theoretically they could edit Electric Soldier Porygon to remove the red and blue strobing lights. Instead they could edit it to show a large cloud of smoke as a result of the explosion. Sadly not only did they ban the episode but they banned the Pokémon Porygon from ever being allowed in the anime. Outside of a brief cameo in the movies Porygon has never been seen in the anime ever again after this episode, and it’s evolved forms Porygon2 and PorygonZ has never ever been seen in the anime period.

It’s sad that the original ‘The Great MacGrady’ was banned all because of the appearance of Lance Armstrong. So glad the show revised the episode without him.
Seeing that Baxter Stockman scene is amusing, considering how much else they got away with; the gradual mutilation of Stockman, as more and more body parts disappear; also, Shredder getting his head cut off - of course, the twist is that he is really an alien piloting the armour from inside the torso, but when the decapitation happened, this wasn't revealed, so it seemed like it was fatal, gruesome injury.

I do think it's worth noting that while 200 and 201 remain banned to this day, Trey and Matt still won in the end, because they VERY NEXT season was released under the pretense that "We don't see it until *YOU* see it". For that season, there was ZERO moderation for the show, and absolutely nothing Comedy Central could do about any content provided, since they were not allowed to pre-screen it. It was a 100% free pass.
And yes, Comedy Central was REQUIRED to advertise this fact, and advertise it pretty much every commercial break of every show on the network, between the season's premier and finale. It was the single largest serving of crow the network has ever had to swallow. And they have NEVER since crossed Trey and Matt. They make the fucking show the way they want, no matter who likes it or not. Lesson learned.

I saw the banned Married with Children episode in the Paley Center in New York City!
Four other Pokémon episodes that were banned was the Kangaskhan episode in Japanese in season 1 original. Was banned because the kid in the episode asked for something inappropriate from Misty. The Milktank episode from Joto Journeys after Meowth and Cyndaquil restores HP. 😉 The third one I remember was also from Joto Journeys. It's when James dressed up as a woman and um... just think with your imagination as to what happened. The fourth episode was about Ash's Tauros in the Safari Zone season 1. Was banned because of to many guns in a kids show. Which is funny because the first time Ash's Pikachu gets hurt a store owner pulled a gun on Ash, because Team Rocket just robbed his store. Saw a good amount of those. The only one that should be banned is the Pikachu Shock. As soon as pokemon popped up I knew exactly what it was. That show is straight up dangerous. I somehow watched, u say it’s banned completely, idk how I saw it then but watching it even gave me a headache and hurt my eyes. That episode is no joke. Everything else is a joke and needs to let the shows writers play out.
I felt bad for Porygon because he was banned from broadcasting on TV again because of something that wasn't even his fault.

That Family Guy episode was aired in the UK nearly a year later (not due to controversy it just used to take that long for it to make its way over here before the BBC lost the UK rights.)
