@@billerickson5604 it IS possible to "not remain" and, little by little, fall away, so that at the end, you're openly sinning and openly ignoring God's word. Then one would question that person's true conversion though!! It's very very possible, and I think scary.....that's why we are reminded to work out our salvation "with fear and trembling" .....not to work FOR our salvation, but to work "out" our salvation.....to see if we are in the faith. It can be hugely deceiving......you CAN go through your life thinking you're saved, when you're not........xx

So it seems to me that it wouldn't make sense for him to tell them to remain if it wasnt possible not to as reformers suppose. But from what i have heard, the argument would be that they it would be possible , but they wont due to the warning. Gods keeping them by it . What do u think?

I don't have a question about the remaining apostles, I do read of others who didn't walk with him any more .......and later, in the time of acts, how some people (who had previously been with Paul), actually did him harm (Alexander the coppersmith), ........and Demus (loved the world)..... I do know it's possible to talk the talk and walk on the straight path, and then to turn away. I'm talking about myself. I am so shocked about it, that I now firmly believe, I was never saved. I NOW think, it is impossible to lose the faith. Impossible. Or you're still lost..... that I DO know. You can be somewhat enlightened but not really be His at all. All these wasted years. Bitter experience. I'm inclined to say: "why me Lord! I do NOT deserve it". And my Father answers: "No you don't. But in Jesus sacrifice you're accepted" I have no more words. X

If a person can lose their salvation, they can never ever say that they know they are saved. Because if you can do something that can cancel out your salvation today (or next week, or next year), then at best you can say is "I know I am saved right now." But what you can never say is, "I know I have eternal life."
I love the part where he says, that you can't jump out of His hand. I've had true Arminian's tell me that you can jump out! That's nonsense! I'm the one I need saving from! If I can jump out, I'm sunk, and Christ is a liar! Thank you Lord for your grace!

So in a very real sense we are all born branches on the vine because we are all dependent on him to even live another second. So this illustration would then not have the implications suggested.
