My daughter is an adult but when she was little I was blessed that my sister friend could do her hair. I would try to do her hair never a straight part so I got good at parting at a angles🙄. Her hair would make it through the morning part of school. She so rough and busy. i used to use cowry shells as my sort of "signature" finish, however i realized that it really should be short term because the inner shell can cut the hair on the ends.
